All the teams in the Bedard sweepstakes have several guys playing for their next contract they'll all catch opponents on off nights too. What you say is true as there are individuals who are struggling to get good contracts and cannot be expected to lay down for the sake of the "franchise" at the expense of their individual/family welfare. I guess it shows how important it is to maintain quality through the years instead of having to rely on getting more ping pong balls in the hopper as a determinant of the fate of the franchise. There's a lotta (ifs) and getting the #1 is a big one but the other (ifs) like most of the better kids now in the system working out and a good number of the many high picks to come also working out are (ifs) too,but should be much less (iffy) if assessed and developed properly IMO. Plenty of cap space to add needed pieces too. I just see big potential for improvement for those reasons alone, how much success we get from all that potential depends on how the new FO preforms the next 2-3 years. I think we all should expect considerable improvement by then. At least ae had our eight year, moment in the sun.

I really hope that is how things play out. Besides an immovable Jones, Tinordi and McCabe are the two I would keep.

Johnson I still feel will just retire since he just turned 36 and I'm sure he sees no future in this teams plans. Unless they may want to consider coaching in Rockford maybe? I can see that happening.

Make good draft picks; develop them well and the use the cap space to buy some proven vets. If getting a #1 pick comes along also, that is the icing on the cake. As you say, there will no doubt be improvement over the current version of the Chicago franchise, but the big question is how much improvement will there be. As we all know, for every Arizona, Edmonton and Buffalo there are very few Colorados. That period of 2010-2015 was definitely the highlight of my sports enthusiasm. It was so much fun to be so invested in the welfare of a sports franchise and have it get fulfilled. It was quite different than my current enthusiasm for the KC Chiefs and the Denver Nuggets.
