Now ahead of the Ducks for the 4th worst team. We be out of the Bedard derby right now. And probably Fantilli too. It really doesn't matter because they have all these young offensive stars already under contract with several more to come from the next two drafts-----NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hawks win 2-1. I think we can kiss Connor Bedard goodbye. Have to hope we get the maximum bonus in the loteery, maybe we'll get lucky. Or not. Shit!

Home now. Traded some pavement for gravel and got home 6 miles quicker. Anyways...i was listening to WGN postgame the last couple miles on the bike when battery life on the phone didnt matter and they said it was chicago's first regulation win against nashville in 17 games.
Anyways...now that i'm back watching live a long streak of losing is imminent.

You cant “tank” when your team are filled with players with chip on their shoulders and are in expiring contracts. Because theyll play their hearts out for their next contract. Same with young guys and fringe players in their “last chances” to prove they belong in the NHL. You need more players like the Johnson or Murphy, Zaitsev or Mrazek, players who doesnt have to be good to get a paycheck

This is the worst case scenario. The rebuild will take an extra 5-7 years if they keep inching closer to the middle. To me, anywhere from pick 7-20. Is not gonna get your team rebuilt properly. If the Hawks wanna become yesteryears predators. Go ahead. I won’t be around for that. A team suck just at the end of the middle that has good players, a lot of them. But can never get over the hump due to no star power. This team will be in the middle for quite sometime. No this isn’t jumping off the ledge. There’s not many gawdam games left. So we watch basically the same thing of last year. A shit team but never bottom out. If this keeps up. It may be best to part ways with Richardson. Let him actually go coach a real team to see what he can do. Don’t waste his time and the Hawks to get the talent needed. The Hawks will end up picking 7 or 8. And there’s bo way to recover except be bad for the next 5-7 years. Look at how many failed top picks there are in weaker drafts. This is the draft to get what you need to move forward properly. I’m really losing faith in this regime already. If you can’t even lose, that’s awful at best!!! If we fired richardson for winning too much we'd be the laughing stock of the league.

If you truly look at the league, we are far from what you call a laughingstock. Its the first year of the rebuild, with a rookie GM. Whats funny is everyone assume hes going to get it right the first time. The three teams i mentioned have been sucking for longer with multiple GMs replaced, worst coaches and worst contracts. Have you looked at whats happening in Vancouver and Pittsburgh? Even Stlou and Nashville are going in the wrong direction

They entered a massive rebuild with a rookie GM. You don't task a first-year GM with minimal prior experience doing anything close to this with a full rebuild. You hire someone with experience running a team who can also come in with a fresh slate, new eyes and ideas and really start over. This rookie GM only knows what the former guy taught him. It's a recipe for disaster and everyone knows it. The only potential savior to this entire disaster was drafting Bedard and that's going out the window. What's happening elsewhere is completely irrelevant. If it helps you sleep at night to look at other teams and say "ehhh it's not that bad here" go for it, but that's a sorry excuse.

It doesn't matter whether the Chicago franchise is the laughingstock of the league. What matters is that the idiotic organization hired a guy with no experience as a GM, or as a long-time NHL player, to rebuild the team. This was after the organization had a GM who turned a dynasty into a mediocre team in a matter of just a couple of years. One could say that the quality of a team starts with the quality of the GM and not be very far from the truth. Chicago has not had a quality GM for a long time.

Even though I don't like the odds of this happening again; keep in mind we were better (or worse) in the league when we won the lottery and drafted Kane.
It certainly would help the cause if guys like Murph and Mrazek would stop getting injured, though.

Like stated above, the players are going to play for their future, I'd say that the coach is doing the same, what would you expect them, ( players , coach) to do. I don't think there is anyone in this forum that would have thought the team would be winning some of these games.Things don't always go the way anyone would expect.

You seem to be pissed off about it in every post, hey, maybe deep down youre really a hardcore Hawks fan hoping you're wrong and deep down you want the Hawks to be good in 3-5 years? there really is a soft spot in there within you about the Blackhawks and this rookie gm, the laughingstock teams also have rookie GMs, but only one has turned the prospect pools from bad to top3 within the year. While i believe this doesnt really mean anything to my 2030 prediction, it just shows that he is better so far than the others. i keep mentioning that people have to lower down their expectations. Branding Bedard as a potential savior is putting the cart in front of the horse. Not getting Bedard or Fantilli the other top 5 wont be the end of the world. There are other drafts and other picks. Theyll be fine. no team is made in one draft

I’m really losing faith in this regime already. If you can’t even lose, that’s awful at best!!! If we fired richardson for winning too much we'd be the laughing stock of the league. I’ll take it a step further. If the Hawks do not end up with a top 5 pick. I 100% fire Davidson. I let the new GM put his own coach in there. Maybe you haven’t paid much attention to the rest of the NHL the last 25 years. Teams that pick around 5-10. Have never been successfully rebuilt. The Hawks for example had #8, #3, and last year #6 (although traded away). And the Hawks were no better off. They even drafted a new age scoring dman and a hug centerman. Didn’t work out. Montreal has had since 2016, #9, 25, 3, 15, 16,31, 1. They’re no better for it. Plus they’ve had a couple years with multiple firsts. Arizona since 2015. #3, ,7, 23, 5, 11, 9, 3. Still bottom feeders and again this year, they’ll pick 6-7 and miss out. That’s why teams like them will always suck. You have to bottom out. It has to. Even if the Hawks lose out the rest of the year. I’m still not sure they get worst now. It’s not ok. This is a disaster. I was one of the few here that was all for the tear down and start over. But this is more of the same from the last 5 years. Just not bad enough. And I’m sick of hearing the rebuild takes a while, this years draft isn’t the be all end all. The Hawks can get 1st next year, 2 the year after, 4 the year after 1st the year after. Unless those drafts are deep and have the stud you need, you’ll end up like Montreal. Even Lafreniere hasn’t lived up to his hype. It happens. But this years top 3 is very very good. All in all. I don’t care for this direction. It’s stupid and reeks of inexperience. I’m still hoping for KD to pull through. But this looks very similar to the last guy with no hockey background!!!

I don't know how old anyone is on here, but for those of us 60 and over, we may never see the rebuild thru (I certainly don't expect to). So the possibility of getting a player like Bedard gives me hope I may just see something special. So yeah, I'm pissed off that this group of players have suddenly decided to play with chips on their shoulders and potentially lose out on a generational player.
There was never a guarantee they would get him even with the worst record, but moving up in the standings dim the chances with every team they pass. Yes, this is supposed to be a deep draft, but a top 3 is essential and the #1 preferred in order to speed the rebuild.
So enjoy the wins now, it will be more of the same if they win too many more this year. Getting Bedard drastically shortens the rebuild, and not getting him will add years to it.

You’re still on the lengthy bike ride? Rides of 67 miles and 52 miles til now, just a short ride today of 30 miles will see me home. 95F days...the sun's beat me senseless. Weather soon will be quite a bit hotter but i'll never do a ride like this again this late in the year. I'm worn-out from reading that.....GOD BLESS!!!

However, because league rank != draft order because of the lottery, the best we can do is improve the chances by trying to finish worse, but even then it's not a guarantee. 2006 we placed 5th and drafted 3rd. 2007we also played 5th but drafted 1st. Besdies, if some posters here and elsewhere were complaining that mid-year when we were in the cellar that the draft lotto is fixed, how much does it really matter if we are *dead* last. If the tinfoil hat brigade is right and Bedard is going to AZ because Bettman, then finishing dead last won't matter. If they are wrong and the draft lotto is pure chance, then the best we can do is improve the odds. Unfortunately some of our best tank commanders got injured. C'est la vie.

A couple years is two and Stan ran the show from 09-10 through the championship years. It was not until after the 2017 season that we became mediocre. Second in 2016 and first in the west in 2017 is not mediocre.

Let's be even more accurate------Bowman's cause was not helped by Seabrook and Hossa falling apart physically and Keith and Crawford getting old before their time. He did some good things, but, overall, I think he was an ineffective GM when it came time to build the team on his own efforts with no benefit from the work done by prior GMs. There are those who can justifiably provide some cover for Bowman, but the reality is that now this team sucks and will suck for the next decade, in part, because they have an accountant junior as their GM instead of a guy with a hockey mind. They ain't got shit with their young offensive players and their defense babies are unproven at the NHL level. Their draft picks are just wishes at this point. It will take forever for whomever they draft to rise to the level of a NHL star, or even a quality NHL player, if that even happens. In the meantime, they ain't got shit on offense or defense. Yeah, they'll win a few games, but they will not be a serious playoff team for a decade, or more.

you're helping prove my points actually if you live outside Chicago and the Blackhawks bubble like I do, then you'd know the rest of the league thinks the team is a laughingstock and has been for a few years now, between the Beach thing their quick fall from the "dynasty" years and going back-and-forth between "win now" and "rebuild" it's been a joke for some time now "It's the first year of the rebuild, with a rookie GM" ding ding ding we have a winner... laughingstock material. Great points and well said, sir

There are other drafts and other picks. Theyll be fine. no team is made in one draft Sure there are other drafts but not all drafts are built the same. And while surely bedard and/or fantilli could fail to live up to the hype, certainly you’d want one and not the alternative. Generational talents don’t come along very often. Before bedard it was Mcdavid in 2015. Before him Crosby in 2005. (Maybe you can argue kane though the draft hype for him wasn’t nearly as great as for the other 2). Now go look at those drafts and see if the teams who missed out on no. 1 are ok cause “other drafts would follow” The rest of the top 10 in 2005 wound up being a legit dumpster fire. 2015 is a bit better though eichel hasn’t been as good as advertised and certainly didn’t help the Sabres much. The key in that draft was mikko rantanen at 10 to the avalanche. So yes, there will be other drafts. And intern GM can load up on 1st rounders. Maybe he gets lucky and most then into good/serviceable NHL players. But it would seem to me that it’s a superstar driven league and you need the bedard’s of the world to win cups and stay great for a lengthy time. To borrow a line from the wire, “when you come at the king, you best not miss”… if they’re going to be bad for and extended period and successfully execute a complete rebuild then they had better not miss guys like bedard or fantilli (and yes I’m aware it’s a matter of luck no matter what due to the lottery but they need to do their part to have the best odds. If they still don’t get the pick at that point then oh well. But playing themselves out of the pick is intolerable)
