4 breakaways and 32 shots and shutout...pathetic.

Couldn't score in a Tijuana brothel with $100 tied to their Johnsons.

well...we can hold our heads high, we worked hard tonight, we deserved better, we just couldn't catch a break....blah, blah, blah.
lots to like tonight considering our depleted lineup, no doubt about it but i just wanted a f****** win tonight for a change.

before bedard's injury we were 31st in the league in goals for/game with 2.31. no surprise, now we're dead last in the league with a paltry 1.40 goals for/game and i don't believe that counts tonight's shutout loss.
edit: we're now updated to 1.27 goals for/game, almost a full goal behind the 31st team. the islanders are at 2.16 goals for/game.

Well shit really don’t know what to say… Glad I made it to the saddle dome had seat at press level 1st row for those familiar with the old place the climb was almost as bad I have not had a cigarette in about 20 years when I got to the top I wanted one just like the old days. Fans were real good at both places I’m sure some of that was just pity. Probs take a couple day off from the boards gonna be a long second half.

I know I sound like a broken record, but when are they going to replace Derek King?
It's been 5 years with him here and the offense gets worse each year. Now it's game by game gets a bit worse.

They've been shut out 4 times in their last 6gms. Sure it's mostly AHL players but even with Bedard they were struggling to score. In the 14gms in January they scored 17 goals.

As I've seen they have improved slightly on team defense, but it has been at the expense of offense. Early in the season I'm sure the plan was to have AA, Hall, Perry and Foligno basically to carry the team and the kids. The 3 guys can bury the puck and that would have been the thing the younger guys needed to learn. Without them actually on the ice to help them, I don't think just talking to them helps much. When the vets went down for extended time, AA and Hall, they should made some trade for a vet. Instead we have at least 4 guys that should still be Rockford, Reichel comes to mind as 1.

So, even if AA, Hall, etc were around to score a few goals, the Hawk place in the standings would not have been much different and it would not have been a step in the rebuilding direction. It would have just been a temporary improvement on goal scoring. This way by finishing dead, or next to dead last, they will vastly improve their chances of getting more talent in the draft, which, in my opinion, will benefit them more in the long run. Since this is a situation where the long run is the primary objective, they are better off without those guys. Whether all their top notch draft picks build a better team still remains to be seen.
