Team Canada is holding their summer camp in Windsor. There’s a red/white game and a game vs Sweden. Then they head across the bridge to Plymouth (Suburb of Detroit) for the annual summer tourney there. Very good hockey to see at USA arena. There’s always 4 teams there. USA, Sweden, Finland and Canada.
I’ll be attending the games in Windsor. And may make it over to Plymouth for a game or 2.
There are no Hawks prospects invited to Canada’s camp this year. Now, any player that was drafted over the past couple seasons could still make it. They just have to have a solid start to the season!!!

Thanks. It seemed like an event that should be held each year. I wonder if the Wild will have their announcer there from last year's Kurvers Showcase; the one that couldn't pronounce the Blackhawk prospects names correctly. Remember Chorpinski and Landis from last year's squad? Surely he can't mess up 'Mustard', can he?Before the game between the Wild prospects and the Blackhawks prospects, maybe he'll mention the Blackhawks will be missing the last of their first rounders, 'Derek Vandever'. He certainly can't cut the mustard as an announcer if he does!

Pharand got a couple new assistant coaches in Sudbury, Drake Barehowsky and Andrew Desjardins. Andrew can teach him a thing or two.

BleacherNation had an article recently showing who the Hawks drafted from the players they traded.
Hagel- Moore, Boisvert Fleury- Greene Debrincat- Korchinski, Ludwinski, Spellacy Dach- Nazar, Hayes Future considerations in the Zaitsev trade- Kantersov First round pick in the Mrazek trade- Rinzel Kane- Misiak
That's a good list of prospects to replenish the pool.

You rarely hear anything about future considerations, he might be the best bang for your buck. Especially considering he was added to take on Zaitsevs contract. Everything Ebony said sounds encouraging, to go from the 4th line to the first and help win a championship says a lot. Sounds like a great teammate, liked by the coaches, and he's a hard worker at both ends. He's not tall, only 5'9", and 176lbs when drafted, but he looks solid and muscular. Might be in the mid 180s now. Debrincat was 5'7" 165lbs when drafted in the same round. I like how HockeyDB updated Debrincats numbers, 5'8" 180lbs, EliteProspects still says 5'7" 165lbs.

From a little I've read about him, and looking at his stats, so far he seems to be less than the sum of his parts. He's got some decent abilities so maybe they can get a little more offense from him. That part declined last season.

If he makes it, it’ll be as a defensive specialist. Not everyone is an elite scorer!!!

Pharand needs to accept being a checking player. Hit everyone , block what you can and embrace a lower line mentality.

That would probably be his best way of getting on an NHL roster and getting a role in the bottom six. I've read he has some offensive skills but has been so inconsistent with it. And I think you had said one time on the board that a player that isn't scoring much in juniors isn't going to be scoring much in the NHL. So it's hard to see Pharand's offense busting loose as a pro. Remember this goal from Pharand a couple of seasons ago. www.tiktok.com/@rinkrecap/video/7382976143353253125

www.dailyfaceoff.com/news/2024-world-junior-summer-showcase-who-stood-out-on-day-1Oliver Moore, C (Chicago Blackhawks): If I wanted a young hockey player to learn about skating and work ethic, I’d show them Oliver Moore clips. No matter the game, no matter the score, no matter the situation, he gives it his all out there. I still can’t believe the Hawks got him when they did because a player as versatile and difficult to play against as he deserved to go so much higher. His goal that made it 7-0 was pretty, and he scored that because of his speed.edit: 2024 3rd rounder a.j. spellacy on the team as well as moore.

Finland #10 Janne Peltonen, D (Chicago Blackhawks): Peltonen isn’t going to wow you with skill or much offensive production, but he seems to always be in the right spot at the right time. The 2023 seventh-rounder is a big, mobile blueliner who gets into scoring lanes just to help take away time and space.

always good to see a prospect named captain, or even co-captain. I know Greene went back for his third year at Boston University with a goal to be a leader on and off the ice and without the shadows of Celebrini. Hopefully he is the #1 center and has big year.

I’m going tonight to see Team Canada’s Red/White game. Then tomorrow is Canada vs Sweden. I’m going to both. There’s no Hawks prospects on team Canada. And I think there’s one on Sweden? Either way. It’ll be cool to see a WJ game. Even if it’s in the summer!!!

Watched the red vs white game. It was kinda lob sided for the first 40 mins. Team red crushed it and was up 3-0. Shots were like 25-9 for red.
Then the white team came flying back in the 3rd and tied her up. Red won with 33 seconds left. Or close to that.
We went out after to a local establishment that always takes care of players from out of town. My son hung out with Zayne Parekh and had a great chat with him he was given the game puck I guess and signed and gave it to my boy. He seems like a class act. He was the only player to give a few of the kids the time of day. So I will always give him points for that.
However. Parekh was a +1. He was on the ice for every goal against and every goal for……….
Gibson, who trains with my buddy’s kid (he was with me), Gibby had a great open ice hit on Yager. It was disgusting that they even called a penalty. But in the IIHF that would probably be a tourney ending hit. It’s really too bad what happened to air game. I feel it’s gone too far the other way.
But back to a couple years ago. I still say Colby Barlow is the real deal. I know the Hawks took Moore. And he may be better than Barlow but I’m still betting on Barlow. He looks like the real deal.
I’ll let you fine folk know about tomorrow’s game vs Sweden!!!

On a side note. Hawks had a few scouts there. Which I found interesting considering they have no prospects in that game. But that Marrone kid is there and he’s projected to be top 3 next year. So maybe Hawks are hedging their bets and staying focused on maybe the team tanks again? Or maybe there’s a player they’ll be targeting in a trade? But they had some guys there watching. As did most teams. I met Treliving. I never ever thought he was that tall. He’s 6’4”. He was watching Easton Cowan!!!

Shots 46-21 Canada. Going to a shootout.
Pretty boring game. I get it. It’s summer. It’s 91F here. And pretty humid. Most people here have swamp ass or a wet back. I’m sure it’s unpleasant. On the ice too. I’m right behind the Canadian bench. It’s fuckin really hot down here.
Couple things. Carson Rehkopf is a stud. He’s really good. Parekh is good. But he’s way too much of a 4th forward for my liking.
I know Vadar was all about Berkley Catton. But the Swedes are big. Very big. And he can’t get nothing accomplished. The NHL will not be for him!!!

I listened to part of a video from 'Locked on Blackhawks', with Jackie Bushman. He was talking about the Tom Kurvers Showcase that comes up in a month from St. Louis.
He was giving some hypothetical lines he'd like to see.
He thought a top line would be Lardis LW, Nazar C, Dach RW. He thought Rolston, Misiak, and Gavin Hayes might be a good line. He also thought Ludwinski at C, between Savioe and Slaggert would be a great trio.
He said Levshunov, Allan and EDM were the only notable D men taking part. Commesso and Gaudreau were the 2 goalies.
Here is the video.

Here is the video. There's a couple intriguing dmen that are OHL invites and both born in Ontario, Tnias Mathurin 6'3", 19yr old lefty, Wyatt Kennedy 6'4" 20yr old righty, both played for North Bay Battalion the past few seasons. Could end up being depth for Indy and Rockford. Lucas Brenton signed with the Hogs and he's at the TKS, 6'4" lefty who's 21. WHL dman who played four seasons with MooseJaw. And the last pick for Chicago this year, Ty Henry, will round out the 7 dmen. He's raw but he's similar to Isaak Phillips, both 6'3" lefties with natural athleticism and played in the OHL. Chicago likes big dmen.

Allan and Del Mastro could get a chance to play with Levshunov in the NHL, it'll be interesting to see who's paired with him at the Tom Kurvers Showcase.
