Oh man, me and my wife fed the tarpon just like that in the Keys several years ago. We didn't stick our hand in the water and tease them like that though. Those people on the dock weren't giving that guy much help. when he fell over at the end, I lol'd. I'm sure his arm he had through it's gills looked worse by the end of it... |

ahh...the popeil pocket fisherman. is that yours in the photo by chance? when i was a kid i really wanted one of those. of course, that was long before the days when i wasn't a skeptic of things that looked too good to be true. old ron popeil had a lot of stuff like that but he was a pretty good salesman. hell, i bought a "popeil pasta maker" one night at about 3 a.m. and i don't even eat much pasta. seemed like a good idea at the time. it got used exactly once. when something costs $19.95, you know it is quality. yeah, but i don't believe that included the optional wrist strap, which of course you'd need if you tied into a 800 pound sturgeon. |

Pike are more reliable 'hitters' when it comes to catching em than Muskies but both feed in 'windows' that have to do with moon 'phase' and other conditions. I didn't keep the Pike in my avatar but it woulda been cool to see what that bulge in his stomach was.......my money's on a walleye that might have made a meal for either one of us.......and still hiungry!LOL! |

Watching a few 'Big Winnie' videos to get my mind right for the trip up in a few weeks and I thought I'd post a few. No TV hero's,guides or tourney guys,just a couple of families out lookin' for a fish fry. The first one's by two young knuckleheads who are either messin' around or actually sleeping half the time while the girls catch all the fish and the only time you put your rod in a holder when pulling spinners is when you need to pee or get into the cooler(if then). It just seems to me that anything less than glowing assessments of the new FO aren't well received,I can 'go along to get along' or just refrain from commenting much on the state of the team.........it'll more than likely be the later. It's hard for me to go along with Edzo being replaced by an announcer from the team's most hated rival. JT and Kane's mentorship being replaced by one of the game's biggest D-bags and one of the team's past antagonists.......Katy Perry and Chelios? You can't retire a number twice........who's shittin' who? |

Not that you were looking for a response but I largely agree with your sentiments. I am trying to start fresh with the FA but can’t fault anyone for being skeptical. I am not thrilled with Edzo’s replacement either - seems clownish. It is tough to have to warm up to Corey Perry but I think I can get there. And finally - not a fan of the Chelios number retirement as I mentioned elsewhere. Appreciate your posts even on the occasions when I don’t agree!

If so,that's a FO decision I fully support! Great guy,smart guy and he went about the business of enforcer in an honest manor IMO. John Scott never targeted opponent's elite players or small guys and he rarely if ever fought non-fighters. I still remember him making Staubitz pay fo runnin' Soupy on a touch-up and Englund for concussing Kruger with a head-shot. I think both guys woulda answered the bell for their actions anyway given a choice but they had no choice.......Big John kicked the F'n door down and threw em a beatin'! |

right on. I've been working on talking the special lady here into going up to Eagle end of Sept/early Oct. told her the last time I was there , I wore shorts most of the trip (she is concerned about 1: it being cold). I neglected to mention the weather for any other trips there though 😏. i also told her she could handle sucker duty (she is concerned about 2: being bored) and I'll cast for 'skis and also that we can do walleyes for a couple days (for a while 😉). might could even go for smallies... we will see how how it goes. gotta also worry about that little 'rona and closed border issue too. maybe 2022..... Wabigoon is definitely darker, especially closer to town. there some gigantic fish in that lake and the fish seemed more aggressive (imo) because of the less clear water. we have a bunch of fun on our trip there, caught a good week apparently! we caught a baker's dozen between 42-49 but only landed one over 50 (52). we saw a few that were mid 50s, though. naturally the biggest ones weren't as aggressive..... Lac Seul didn't go quite as well, but was still a good time, as fishing is pretty much always better than most anything else you can do, imo! we caught only a half dozen on that trip, but my old man did catch a 55 incher (his best), so that made it worth the trip alone! that, combined with the lack of really anyone else around for a whole week made that trip memorable despite the lack of catching. on both, we only went once and only went for 'skis, so I can't comment on any other types of fish you might wanna go for. we wanted to go back to Wabigoon, but the week we wanted was booked, so we went back to Eagle... Eagle, I've been to a few times. we went a couple times, tried out the other two lakes, and then back to Eagle the last two times we went. I wouldn't mind trying Wabigoon again some day, or also the lake southeast of it (starts with a D, can't recall the name), but as I am familiar with Eagle, I'd like to go back there first. the 'ski fishing is good on a bad day and great on a good day. they might not hit the lures, but someone is catching something on the sucker, guaranteed. caught my Canadian personal best there (52.5) on a sucker (sadly, but it still counts!). I've eaten more walleye outta lake than I can count and on occasion I've caught some large northerns will fishing the 'eyes as well (which is a nice surprise as I prefer to use a light action rod for the 'eyes, so....). one thing I will say is Eagle for sure has more traffic than the other two combined, but luckily there's lots of room and lots of fish! one of these day I'll give Lake of Woods a go, I've always wanted to fish that lake! I haven't strayed north of the border with the exception of working with and shipping harness horses all over Western Canada back in the 80's ... well off topic here but it's not often the topics of hockey and harness racing cross paths. |

i guess if you're on the amazon fishing for piranha you should have a few tie wraps in your tackle box.
i've got pacu in my pond which is a relative of the piranha. their teeth are not as sharp but you're gonna' want a long set of needle nose pliers when taking out the hook.
