Last night I was recording two hockey games simultaneously. One the Blackhawks' vs the Jackets, and the other the University of North Dakota at Omaha. I started watching the U game, and after the first period I began watching the Hawks from the start. It's nice to be able to fast-forward through commercial, refs looking at replays, etc. After the Hawks' first period, I went back and zipped through the period break for the U game.
When I went back to the Hawks' game, it was so boring and poorly played (no offense whatsoever) that I decided that I would fast-forward through the rest of the Hawks' game, stopping to watch only pp/pk. I was able to get through the rest of the game without falling to sleep. I think this is the best suggested way to watch this year's Hawks.
I only wish I could put the tv on fast-forward and get to the end of this season because it is the most boring hockey I've ever seen, and the coaching moves are puzzling most of the time.

I'm the exact opposite. I'd rather watch every minute of every Hawks game, no matter how poorly played, than not have any Hawks games to watch. The offseason drags by sooo slowly and I miss watching the Hawks play almost immediately after their season ends. Hell, I search out 1-minute video clips from training camp and practice to watch. Hawks skating with sticks in hand and puck on ice = goodness. Hawks no skating with sticks in hand and puck on ice = sadness.

I only wish I could put the tv on fast-forward and get to the end of this season because it is the most boring hockey I've ever seen, and the coaching moves are puzzling most of the time. I fully agree that the team is awful. I love hockey too much to not watch. But this brand of coaching and style of players really ain’t for me. I have NHL live and you can watch any game at any time. So even if I’m late, I can fast forward through it. And the last few years I e been fast forwarding through a lot of Hawks games. I still watch most of it, but other teams are much more exciting to watch nowadays. One thing I do like and keeps me mildly interested in the Hawks are these boards. I would probably just mail in my Hawks card if it were for this place. I don’t care for the management, coaches, and for the most part..... the players. Just not an exciting style of Hockey. It really isn’t. And the interviews of the coach and the GM give don’t help at all. Really doesn’t give me much hope. So without hope, I would at least like the entertainment factor to build back up. At least it should be entertaining!!!

I suppose I could watch every minute of each Hawks' game, but it would not make me anymore of a fan. I will always pull for them, but I've seen enough hockey in my life (I used to coach and worked a lot of summer hockey camps for all levels from kids to pros: Big Buff was an attendee a couple of years), so I don't need to be wasting time getting frustrated by the poor product on the ice.
I am encouraged by a few of the newcomers I have seen : Suter, Lanc the goalie, and #23 K (who I originally thought was a Russian). The rebuild is going to take a lot of time, and since I am a senior (74) it might take longer than my life time. I hope not, but I guess it's true. I do have some of the Cup games saved on disc, so I can always go to those if the season keeps crumbling.

23 is Russian, from Wikipedia 'Kurashev is the son of Russian former professional hockey player Konstantin Kurashev. He holds Swiss and Russian dual citizenship, and is fluent in English, German, and Russian'

Thanks irmaks. I thought I had heard a tv guy say that Kurashev was from the Czeck Rep. I thought that was strange, but I didn't bother to check it out. I appreciate your info.

I don't find the Hawks play frustrating to watch at all. I glom onto little things that I see from the young players and find it entertaining. To each their own.

Even in the 90's when we had to bar-hop to find one that had the game on. These days I always DVR the games and skip all the commercials, which is why I don't post during the games. Most commercials are unbearable these days.

How's it goin' Ol boy? Do what you gotta do my friend, you been a Hawk fan longer than I have.....I can't tell you how to do it......no one can. I still watch em all despite my displeasure with management,I won't let 'My two sons' take hockey enjoyment away from me cause I ain't findin' a lot elsewhere right now. Watching without a preferred outcome is a new and liberating feeling to be honest,I still like W's and the play of Lankinen and a few other kids. I'll NEVER hold by distaste for the FO against a single player,I'll always try to assess a guy on his play and it looks like a few kids are NHL quality.......can't say to what level yet but a few kids have looked good. I still see a need for L's though and it's not to rip the team, the team still needs a few top three picks even if a few current kids do work out and I see a team that could easily be around .500 with continued good goaltending and that's still no man's land.

I found that there was no need for fast forward in last night's 3-1 win, but I was getting drowsy in the 2nd period for a while. The young forwards are looking promising right now (Suter, Kurashev, and even the "newest" one Johnson). Lank is the MVP of this team so far. He gives them hope in every game so far.
