Quite quiet this TDL. Any rumors at least? I'm not a subscriber to any tweets or tweeter whatsover so I am lacking all kind of info. GT, I'm sure you're bored. Throw in something...

Usually no news means there’s a log jam. Once one piece falls then everyone will go to plan B.
I was at the Wings game last night, my buddy’s cousin plays for the Flames, so we went. We were talking to some “people” there. It sounds like the Flames are content to sit on their hands. But I got word that Mike Green was sitting out, they said he was going to either Washington or Edmonton, and well, we have it now.
From what I’ve gathered over the last week here. It sounds like the Hawks still wanna try and make the playoffs. Although there’s been a lot of talk, I think part of the hold up with the Hawks is they’re teedering on a fence the last 24 hours. Now they are probably mulling over offers and taking their time. I’m sure ownership is involved at the exact moment too. The direction needs to shift to rebuild, so I’m sure the internal discussions haven’t been pleasant. Maybe they tie Stans hands? And just say go for it? We’ll see soon enough!!!

I sure hope Stan starts to tear this thing down. We pick 7th as of now and that just isn’t good enough. We need assets and a pick in the top 5, hopefully top 3. I’d like to see the Hawks make a few deals to clean up our house!!!

And Jets are still trying to shop Byfuglien. That is a trade the Hawks would do just for the PR. Please don’t. Stop the nostalgia kick. No more ex players.

Carolina and Pitt really going all in it appears....
I think guess the Avs goalie situation must not be to bad if they settled on Hutchinson. Carolina is gonna regret not trading for a better netminder, imo.

It goes to show that no one wanted to apart with a 1st rounder. It’s a deep draft and I don’t blame the teams for this. This is why I’d love to see Stan (or more than likely the new GM) make some trades in the offseason, especially before the draft. Should be a great top 5. Also there should be a good amount of good players outside of the top 5.
I feel Stan was only allowed to trade the UFAs, as the team wasn’t going to sign them any ways. Which is a sign that they will have a new direction, but more than likely not Stan. I think a day or two after the season they’ll say goodbye to him. And rightfully so!!!

IMO if they're going to fire SB then it should be now not after the season. IF they are going in a new direction I would rather have the new GM here now evaluating the players he has in the system before the draft. Plus he will need to build his own staff

There’s not enough talent in the pool at the moment. And if the team makes the playoffs, Stan will survive. So once the season is done, they’ll make their media spin on this and probably even keep Stan as a senior advisor. I don’t see them embarrassing Stan. And rightfully so. It’s best to let guys go gently and with class. I know a lot of fans want him shot out of a cannon, while entertaining and amusing, it’s not the best way to run a company!!!

SB is an Executive V.P. as well as GM. I had been saying since last season he won't be fired but actually promoted and a new GM will be named. But they should still name a new GM, Hunter, and if the new GM wants to hire his brother, Hunter, to be coach then let it happen now.

They own the team and it would be kinda pointless to do that at this point. Like I said, not much talent will be available till seasons end. So the right move would be to let him finish out the year, and hope that the team finishes a bit lower and moves even lower with a bit of luck!!!

Unless the plan is to just promote from within in which case nothing really changes. They could promote Maciver..... Going to need more than a Swiss Army knife and duct tape for this job...but seriously, if you just promote from within and Bowman gets to stay in his V.P job, does much change? Some teams like the Oilers managed to give their once venerated hockey idols like Kevin Lowe a sideways escape before their legacy was completely destroyed. Maybe Stan gets that option, as a V.P. with little exposure to hockey decisions. It’s possible some voices and fresh thinking in the organization have been stifled over the years and may finally find expression. It’s also possible nothing changes...again.

Canes should have picked up Lehner. Outshot Dallas 41-16 and lose 4-1. And it wasn’t Forsberg in net. What were they thinking?

What were they thinking? that they wanted to trade their first rounder for more offense apparently. boggles my mind they didn't go after Lehner hard. instead they spent a bunch on a forward they didn't need and 2 more dmen that they also probably didn't need as badly as a goalie.
