idk how friedman knows but he's not often wrong. www.sportsnet.ca/article/32-thoughts-could-the-predators-trade-filip-forsberg/ Chicago’s GM finalists appear to be incumbent Kyle Davidson, Tampa Bay director of hockey operations Mathieu Darche and Cubs assistant GM Jeff Greenberg.
This has been an interesting process. One of the things we’re all trying to get a handle on is how serious the Blackhawks were about non-hockey candidates Greenberg and Raptors Vice-President Teresa Resch? Were they legit candidates, or performative optics? Multiple sources at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment indicated Resch didn’t think this was the right thing for her, but felt Chicago was legit in its interest. (One thing about the Raptors, they pay very well.)
Greenberg apparently knocked it onto Waveland Avenue in his interview(s), which, I believe, led to a conversation about what it would really mean if someone with no hockey experience led your hockey operations. How would that work? What would you need around him? Would core players, potential free-agent/trade targets and fans buy in? Davidson was CEO Danny Wirtz’s favourite to begin this process, and Darche clearly impressed, too. Honestly don’t know how to handicap this one. |

If the “advisory” group is more than just a marketing ploy then I would expect Edzo, Hossa and Sharp would want someone with hockey experience. Should be interesting as it will tell us how serious ownership really is. They're moving to the next step of the process,additional updates on the search will be provided as the process continues. Self aggrandizing bullshit,we got a TDL around the corner,pick somebody! The Ducks lost Murray out of the blue and they already got their guy.......no fanfare........no media circus.......no townhall.......no mean old man yelling at town hall........just the guy who was Stevie Y's assistant for decade. |

We have to think for a minute. This gawd dam baseball guy has to rebuild the whole organization. He knows nothing of this sport. I don’t know if I’d accept him as president.
So I’d have to think that Darche should be the guy. KD will probably be named associate GM. I don’t believe the baseball guy fits in. Did he show up in a clown outfit too?
Let’s hope this isn’t just a shitty publicity stunt and KD is named GM anyways. I’m don’t like the looks of this. But I have to believe the right things will be done!!!

Darche would not be my first choice overall, but between the three left it better be Darche. I can't believe they could find better candidates to interview, but yet made a clown show out of it.

But unfortunately they'll probably go with KD or the baseball guy because he gave a good interview 🙄 |

You have to wonder how much influence the former players (advisory group) had in the process. Either KD impressed them, or their voices did not account for much. You got think that with this "extensive search" we would have come up with someone better than a former video coach and GM in training to lead an original six franchise. Still will be hawks' fan, just would like to see some reason for optimism.
