Should be lots of fun. Watch the younger guys for the draft. Plus we got 4 Hawks prospects playing too. Team rosters: www.iihf.com/en/events/2022/wm20/news/31312/camp_rosters

So it starts in a couple of hours. Pretty hyped about Slovak prospects. Let's see how they'll fare against one of the top favourites. Going to bed but alarm clock set. Hopefully I'll be able to get up

Russia is making a game of this. They did. Mishkov is really good. Kid finds 50 different way to score per game. Canada ties her up. 3-3. I think they’ll blow up the Czechs now. Just some sloppy play. They seem to be back under control now!!!

Just some sloppy play. They seem to be back under control now!!! Owen Power did his best Bobby Orr imitation and got a hat trick. That made me wonder if he is a phenom goal scoring dman, so I looked up his Michigan stats for this season-----18 games with 3 goals. I would guess that the Michigan stats confirm that he is not Bobby Orr, but just had a unusual scoring performance against the Czechs. I am not questioning his skills, I was just astonished by a dman getting a hat trick and just missing a fourth goal, so I thought I would check to see how he usually does. Hell, even Kane only had 5 goals in the entire tourney in 2007. So, good start for Owen.

Owen's defensive skills are more important to the team. he also has 20 apples thus far.

Mangiapani stepped in and really helped. But Power started playing 25 mins a game for an 18 year old. Not only did he thrive, he dominated. So seeing him dominate teenagers is really not that out of the question. He’s gonna be good because he chose to develop instead of struggling in the NHL. Bob made the point the other day. Not many teenagers should make the NHL, let alone 18. Development is huge. Power is actually developing. Most top picks should go back and develop. It’s great for them, unless their McDavid, Mathews etc!!!

Unfortunately the tourney is canceled. After we just seen Mishvov have a couple good games and Bedard score 4 last night. Just a shame. Just a shame!!! It is a pity. Steve Yzerman came out pre Christmas and asked a legitimate question, why test asymptomatic players? Of course he was quick to be criticized but several players are vocalizing the same. Other leagues have adapted, the NFL I believe has dropped weekly testing. With the NHL the Canadian border seems to be a major problem. Maybe it’s time for the league to revisit their protocols, if need be, cut the Canadian teams and continue with a truncated season for the American side.

Maybe it’s time for the league to revisit their protocols, if need be, cut the Canadian teams and continue with a truncated season for the American side. I agree with just about everything accept cutting out the Canadian teams. Those players are gonna wanna be paid too. It’s very unfortunate. I don’t see any reason to treat someone who’s asymptomatic like a leper. I’m taking this serious. My buddy’s dad failed to get vaccinated and now he’s on deaths door. I’m waiting right now for my booster shot. But at some point we’re gonna have to trust the vaccines. Can’t expect people to get vaccinated then be locked down. It won’t work much longer here in Canada. The problem here is we have public health care. And they just don’t have the budget not the people or infrastructure to handle this. In Ontario, we have roughly 15 million people. 40% or Canadians live here. We have 425 people currently in ICU’s across the province. That shouldn’t break the system. Out of all of the hospitals, 425 are in ICU. But they’re saying it’s maxed out, go get vaccinated and basically lock yourself down. I believe in Ontario 90% of people 12 and up and are fully vaccinated. So I find it hard to believe that the 10% are the cause of all of this. The effectiveness isn’t what they thought it was, and there’s no new vaccines to crush this thing in the works. So they’re selling us that these vaccines that were originally designed to fight the original strain, are what we need. I believe if we had 100% vaccinated, we’d still have pretty much the same problem. People who are at risk, are always at risk. Protect them and let the rest of the world return to normal. Not one young athlete has died from this. Unless they had a heart defect or some underlying condition. Which most don’t even know about. So let’s move forward and get our lives back in order!!!

I was following your comments about these young guys, particularly Mishvov and Bedard, and was ready to watch them play. At least I got to see a little, but it would have good to see more. I feel sorry about the players as it must be heartbreaking to lose the ability to play the tournament. Train all year long for it and then have it snatched away. As you said, what a shame!!!

Maybe it’s time for the league to revisit their protocols, if need be, cut the Canadian teams and continue with a truncated season for the American side. I guess I am missing something here because the answer to Yzerman's question seems real simple. Just because one is asymptomatic does not mean he is not infected and a carrier. That is important info to know, so that is why they were requiring testing of all players, whether symptomatic, or not. I guess some could say there is no need to test asymptomatic players, but that is just inviting even more infections than we are seeing already. It is really bizarre to see so many positive tests with all the supposed protections that the league has put in place. It is happening in the other pro sports so it is not just hockey players. Either the protections don't matter because these guys operate in such close proximity; or they are going out in public places among people regardless of the vaccination status of these others and getting infected. I guess one cannot expect players to stay away from the public, but as long as they don't, they can expect to get infected, vaccinated, or not.
