You know it's been a bad night: Part II. When you get the most SOG you've had in the last six games and still only score one goal, which is the second fewest goals over those last six games. When you score the first goal of the game and defy the odds and go on to lose the game. When two of the three team leaders in SOG for the game are non-prospects that don't score much at all. At least Stauber had a good game.

Anyone know if Gramaldi will be playing tonight? Or Wagner?
Hogs could use some help up front.

Hogs could use some help up front. looks like they're not. seney and busdeker were dinged up last game and won't play either. gust's wife is having a baby. 3C valleau was signed on a PTO 8 days ago as a defenseman. 4C koletrane wilson is also a defenseman. not often you see your 3rd and 4th centers replaced by defensemen. at least both goalies are goalies. could get fugly tonight.

soderblom stopped 45 of 46 in the game and allowed just 1 goal in 11 shootout attempts and the hogs get a win despite just 1 goal in regulation. laval had tied it in the last minute but hogs managed the win anyways. laval's goalie was first star somehow but he faced just 28 shots in the game and allowed 2 in the shootout. oh well. | American Hockey League Game #869 Rockford 2 at Laval 1 Place Bell Mar 4, 2023 | Referee: | Bobby Jo Love (51) Nicolas Loyer (13) | Linespersons: | Justin Johnson (57) Tim Heffner (55) | |

Yeah that's strange Soderblom wasn't the 1st star, but a win is better. Of course Beaudin assisted on the tying goal.

Considering the lack of offense, what will very likely keep Rockford in the playoffs is they have a fair sized lead over the 6th place team, and the first five get in. Rockford is currently in 4th, with Iowa in fifth, but only two points behind Rockford. The IceHogs currently have a ten point lead over the 6th place Wolves, with 15 games remaining. The Wolves have 18 games left. They may get into the playoffs but they've got to pick up their offense if they want to go very far.
Shouldn't they get Reichel and Guttman back by playoff time?

At this rate they won't make the playoffs, pathetic. And why the f*ck did they get rid of Gogolev, he scored the only goal in a 2-1 SO win then he's done. And the Hawks aren't making the playoffs so why keep some of Rockfords best players, what a mess.

The IceHogs remind you of a boxer that's built up an early lead and then tries to hang on as the opponent starts closing the gap. Considering the lack of offense, a loss to the 6th place Wolves is something the IceHogs can't afford to do.
Rockford was in fourth place, but currently the IceHogs and Iowa are now tied for fourth, with 63 points. The Wolves are now only 8 pts. behind with 55 pts. And the Wolves have three extra games remaining over Iowa and Rockford; they have 17 games left, Rockford and Iowa have 14.
It is amazing how much offense the IceHogs are currently missing. Grimaldi needs to start scoring. I saw he had 27 goals in 54 games for San Diego at the time of the trade, and surely he hasn't forgotten how to score. San Diego is the worst team in the entire AHL, with 39 pts.

And the Hawks aren't making the playoffs so why keep some of Rockfords best players, what a mess. About Gogolev. From Athletic. 'The Blackhawks were expecting Pavel Gogolev to be in the organization the next two seasons after being acquired as part of the Toronto Maple Leafs’ deadline deal. His entry-level contract had another season in it. And he did join the Rockford IceHogs for two games and scored a goal. But Gogolev had other plans after that. He decided he wanted to terminate his NHL contract and rejoin his former team, the Newfoundland Growlers, in the ECHL. That happened last week. He signed an AHL contract with the Toronto Marlies and was loaned back to the Growlers. Gogolev forfeited his signing bonus for next season by terminating his NHL contract. You don’t often see something like that.'

One thing I noticed though, even through these losses, is that the pairing of Vlasic and Crevier rarely have a minus on the box. They were paired earlier in the season and due to injuries and call ups they’ve been used together again for several games and they seem to have clicked again like they did in the season’s beginning. Vlasic has more upside probably and a little offence, but these two giants just seem to be hard to play against. I wish the AHL would show TOI in their stats and I wish there was a regular fan there who could give us some perspective.

Rockford with a big win in OT, Rocco with the game winner and 1a, Lynch 1g-1a, Philp with 2 goals, and Soderblom stopped 33 of 36 shots.
Rocco looked like he was shot out of a cannon, the camera person lost him, and Lynch scored a nice goal on the PP, one-timer from a cross ice feed from the blueline and he sniped it top corner far side.

It's nice that Rocco saved his first IceHog goal for the home crowd, and even made it a game winner in OT. It also would have been nice if we could have got to see it.

look at the forward group none will be part of rebuild. Next year we start seeing players Next season should be interesting; there should be a fair amount of turnover on the roster, although I suppose that's normal from one year to the next in the minors. We should start seeing some of the 2021 draftees, plus others. I'd think the main new players would be on D; guys like Allan, EDM and Wyatt Kaiser. One F that should be interesting to follow and see how he does is Lypen. It will also be interesting to see what happens in goal. Although I'm guessing that may depend on whether Commesso gets signed. I don't what the Hawks plan for Commesso but he's finished three seasons of college hockey, although I think I'd call it two full seasons and one-third of another since he only played in 11 games his freshman year.

Rough night for Philips. Has he also regressed somewhat since being demoted? It’ll be interesting to see what the defence corps looks like next year. Does Roos go back to Europe, one year left but he has an out. Do they let Galvas walk, RFA but he has NHL aspirations which he probably isn’t going to satisfy here. Regula, seemingly near forgotten in the prospect pool, is UFA. Either could become veteran presence. Vlasic should graduate, good year playing all situations and wearing a letter at 21. Crevier has a year left on his ELC. Now you have to fit in Kaiser, EDM, etc. Rockford may be more interesting to watch than the big club. But that might be a woeful bunch of forwards until some newer picks start showing up.

Hogs win 3-2 in ot, Gust with the game winner. Much different than last night, no player was a minus, Philips was -5 last night, +1 tonight.
Soderblom stopped 33 of 35. Rocco with 2 assists, Philp and Jordan with a goal each.
