we're not going to score shorties every game. without the shorties we could easily be 1-4 or even 0-5. we are playing better than expected though. luke did say he was going to make kyle davidson's job hard. he wasn't bullshitting i guess. Don't the Hawks have more short-handed goals than five-on-five this season? 6 even strength, 4 shorties, 4 ppgs, 1 penalty shot and 1 goal 3 on 3 in o/t.

I’m not gonna lie the fact that Eddie was back in the building and they did nothing for him is very classless true colors of front office . This would seem to show there was bad blood. Hawks management thought they had a deal and were shocked when Eddie left, taking his son with them. I believe this was their way of showing their displeasure

If you are selling yourself as the kind and gentle front office this would seem to be neither of those . Again just surprised and disappointed.

fun game today. as much as we need to lose, I love seeing wins!
I have little doubt that the losses are coming, but damn is it nice to see the boys working hard and never giving up. Bowman should be tarred and feathered for the Jeremy Colliton nightmare. sure is nice having an actually decent coach behind the bench...

Last game the question came up as to whether the Hawks goal song would change. During today's Panthers game, they said instead of having 1 goal song, each player has chosen a song for when they score. Kind of like when a baseball player comes up for his at bat.
Maybe the Hawks could do the same?

Maybe the Hawks could do the same? When Toews and Kane came into the league they had separate songs, Toews didn't like that and asked them to chose one song out of solidarity. They might change the song but I doubt they'll have individual songs of their choosing.

Since I won't be able to watch the game live, I've set it to record on NHL Network, which will air the replay of the game twice, including 1 AM EST (will also be on at noon EST Monday). So won't be on here until I actually can watch the game tomorrow morning. GT (or anyone else who won't be able to watch it live), if you get the NHL Network, maybe this time frame would work better for you? same as tater, i prefer the live version, even if it's 1 a.m. local time. on nhl66 you can rewatch games. i don't know for how long but it's now 10 hours after puck drop and the game is still on. and that link i sent you earlier the game is still available to watch.

That was a pretty entertaining game and a good effort. Is the tank going to ever start; or is that no longer part of the plan?

max domi leads the nhl in faceoff % with a 64.4 winning percentage. (minimum 50 draws)
likely not sustainable because before this season he was under 47% but still interesting i reckon.
jonny's 16th at 60.8%
as a team we're 2nd in the league at 58.2%.
our top 4 centers in terms of numbers of faceoffs are domi, jonny, lafferty (55.4%) and dickenson (50%).
i know....just 5 games in but i can't help myself.

pretty much how i woulda' picked it. LOL - yes a very strange start to this season. And some weird things elsewhere in the league too. It’s still just October but Cup contenders are getting beaten at home by weak teams (Avs and Rangers) and Wings have yet to lose outright.

I tried to look at the nhl66 site for replays. Still can't watch them without having a VPN. So it's still a no go until they figure out how to override the VPN issue.
Just started watching the replay and "OH JOY" the turd is between the benches and already won't stfu.

I believe this was their way of showing their displeasure Rumor had it the offer was underwhelming. He still seems loyal, mentioning the Hawks rebuilding and youth several times in the one nationally televised game he did and complimenting the new HC. All we know is the Org made an offer,Edzo might have been the one shocked when he saw it.........I believe he liked it here and wanted to stay.

I did not know JT went to management to just have one song thanks for the share OTH

"tyler" "yes coach king?" "can you step into my office?" Tyler Johnson was only around the locker room for the first 26 games last year if I recall. I have no problem with a guy complimenting the atmosphere in 'the room' but the comparison seemed unnecessary but no biggie.

What's the point in having Sharp in the booth when the other idiot won't shut up. Even if I do finally get to watch games thru the NHL66 site, it won't be to watch Hawks home broadcasts. At least on the road the TURD isn't on during the game.

"tyler" "yes coach king?" "can you step into my office?" Curious if this comment was based on the players they got rid of, or the coach they dumped in Colliton?

So if the Hawks can play competitive as they have so far, but start losing to get into a top 3 draft position, I'd call this season a success. But if they keep winning and either just miss out on the playoffs, or get in only to get eliminated in the first round, the season would have to be considered a complete failure in a draft rich year as this may be their best chance over the next decade to get a generational type player. With last years picks, along with guys like Reichel waiting in the wings there is some promise to turning this around quickly.

hits 40-8 chicago and faceoffs we won 70%. crazy numbers. like last game way too many giveaways...21 giveaways for chicago to 6 by seattle. jonny 12 for 17 domi 11 for 15 rafferty 8 for 11 dickenson 4 of 7domi led the fwds at 18:45, entwistle the least at 9 minutes. seth at 24:15 and tinordi the least at 16:02. 3rd star khaira's 6 hits led the fwds, mccabe and tinordi 4 each led the d. jack johnson's -3 and 3 giveaways led the team. This is something the previous GM never addressed, leaving Toews alone to win every faceoff. Puck control starts with winning the draws, and is likely a huge reason for the Hawks early season success.
