Truth br told Boston is one of the best teams early and the 'hawks are a team decimated by beancounting. I'm not surprised but it's an eye-opener of how far the 'hawks have regressed. Remember in 2013, the Bruins and Hawks were relatively equal in talent. Nine years later and the Bruins have gotten much better and the Hawks, as you say, have regressed, but they also have no offense. Shows that it was possible to manage a team and maintain some excellence, instead of having it go down the drain as an inevitable outcome. It's as i've been saying for over 5 years now that the Bruins and Penguins have had the same system in place for the parent team and the farm team. Which has made for near seamless transitions for their young draft and prospects to integrate with the parent team. Even when they changed coaches.

Besides the systems you mention, there also had to be some pretty decent draft picks over the last 9 years. Whether the Hawks also made decent draft picks and then traded them away or failed to train them is a question I will leave to be answered by the resident experts. To me, a good analogy is that in 2013, there were two cars that were the same model with the same mileage, one owned by the Bruins, the other by the Hawks. Nine years later, one car has been well maintained and functions well; while the other has turned into a total piece of shit that is dangerous to use on the highways.

Boston also didn't have a beancounter pretending he was an NHL GM, either.

Instead, they had a GM who did even more damage to the car than the usual wear and tear.

Yeah, unfortunately for the Chicago franchise, they had no Car Shield insurance plan backing up the deterioration of their ride. Instead, they had a GM who did even more damage to the car than the usual wear and tear. Then he abandoned the car and there was a homeless orgy in it. But it got stripped down and it's being built the right way. Drafting 2 dmen in the first round is a good start, especially considering they have size, unlike the last time they drafted 2 dmen in the first round.

Not many positives from this game but I noticed the D aren't chasing players behind the net, they stop and let the dman on the other side cover them. And of course they aren't chasing them to the blueline, what an absurd style.
Once the Hawks start adding more skill and youth the system will pay off, especially if they get a top5 this year.

The best thing about dating homeless women is..........you can drop em off anywhere when you're done.
