lots of chatter out their (nothing official) about it being an opportune time to move on from chelsea dagger.
personally i don't mind the song, but i think with a new era unfolding it's likely time to retire it. i'm all for tradition but 15 years is likely long enough for a goal song, especially in the team's current situation.
so...with a bit of time to kill before the draft and a lot of time to kill before the season, what do you think?
myself, i'm voting get rid of the dagger and let the players pick their own goal songs. apparently as of now, just 3 nhl teams are doing that (florida, buffalo and washington).
if you just want to have a new team goal song...any suggestions?
i read somewhere this morning that jeff skinner's personal goal song with the sabres was whitney houston's "i wanna' dance with somebody". i thought that was funny AF.
this YT video is only a couple months old so the team goal songs on it should be current. i just posted it because the current list is in clear view but it's not bad to watch if you have time.
there was only 8 that i recognized out of 29.
of course, it goes without saying that nashville's song is still the world's worst.

I agree with Vadar, but I'd still like to hear a new song. No idea which one (I'll think about it) but Chelsea is getting stale.

I'll also say that I like it mostly because of what it is. it is the Blackhawks goal song. that's what it is. Seattle has Nirvana for their song. Nashville has someone shitty. and on and on. not many have a song that is known solely for being a goal song.
no one is rocking the Dagger nowadays unless they are a Blackhawks fan.

I guess I’m afraid of what it might get replaced with and that could start a trend of too frequent changes IMO. It has become a tradition and accompanied 3 cups.

Even though Chelsea Dagger somewhat grew on me (I still think it's reminiscent of the Sesame Street theme song onc rack), there's nothing wrong with changing it since it's not like it's been the *only* goal song the 'hawks have always used (See also, Portland Winterhawks who have used "TNT" as their goal song since their inception in the '70's). I think prior to Chelsea Dagger the B'hawks used another AC/DC song. So why not get a change in there?
That being said, I think hat trick songs should be personal to the players, like "Johnny B. Goode", "Rock you like a Hurricane", "Sharp Dressed Man", etc.

Instead of being a 'wet-fart' and getting creative with a goal song or two for a team planning to lose a lot more games than they win again,I'll leave it up to the more.....let's say.....involved.
Either way's good with me,I grew to like 'Dagger' and the success it represented but far more important 'icons' of the era are gone and I expect a change.
Let Bedard pick his goal song,let him pick 'THE' goal song if he wants!

I know everyone talks about his shot, but his release is even more lethal and looking at these highlights the goalies for the most part either not able to pick up the shot right away and it is by them quickly or seemed stunned the puck is already in and out of the net. Most hockey people will say if the goalie sees he will stop it. This kid might have something to say about that. Btw, loved the Light Em Up video with Bedard. |

I'm perfectly cool with the song having a catchy hook as long as it's not overly annoying. As for the "personal songs for each one"? I think it's possible, but the odds of getting a hat trick aren't that high. The only 3 from the previous gen I remember were Toews, Kane, and Sharp (as aforementioned). It would have never happened but I wished they would have used GWAR's "Black & Huge" for Buff. But still, assuming they all pan out, I could see a personal hattie song for guys like Bedard, Reichel, Korch, you know. Hell, I think if he makes it all the way, if Commesso gets a shutout or a goalie goal they should use Der Kommisar.  |

Lonnie Brooks's version was always my favorite...... www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLuOycw-xUwBack in the mid 90's,a good bud re-did his place out in St Charles into a blues joynt and he had Lonnie and his boys Ronnie and Dwyne a few times a year. Ol 'Louisiana Lightnin' had a tradition of showing up a few hours early to sit at the bar and chat-up fans when he did gigs..........a bit underrated for a Blues HoF inductee IMO. |

This is probably his full time job. There are a myriad of YouTube content creators whose channel is so successful and popular that they can make a living solely off of making videos. Getting paid to talk about your favorite subject, in the world, seems like a dream gig to me.
