Pathetic effort, the only bright spot after Bedards goal was Luke calling the ref a f*cking joke then telling him to leave. Zero penalties in the first for Arizona, they got away with a couple after the Bedard goal but of course no call and it was downhill after that. And Reichel should be a healthy scratch over Katchouk. Zero points in 9gms as a 2C is a joke. Scratch him, send him to Rockford, or trade him, just get him off the top6. yep, it is way past time to try something different with Reichel. put his ass on the same line as 98 and see if it sparks him. drop him down a line. send him to Rockford. something. Maybe he is just waiting for that 5X5 contract that everyone thought he should have gotten ??

Can’t say I’m not disappointed in Reichel but there’s a lot of expectations placed on him. This is a bad team with little offensive talent. They’ve placed him in an almost untenable position. There’s other players from that draft, Rossi 9th overall and Holtz,7th overall who also had success in the AHL but are also trying to stick with their big clubs, and both those teams are better than what we’re icing. Thing is, those players can be insulated somewhat yet Reichel has been placed into a spot that’s overwhelming him right now. They need to back off on him for awhile.

That's the problem with websites like this one. People in the know (you) have to deal with idiots (me) when the idiots express their opinions. You are right. The Hawks can basically restrict Bedard's movement away from the team for 7 years by matching any offer sheet. I would not expect the Hawks to let him go for 7 years. However, given what we have been seeing in the NBA with trade demands, the Hawks may force Bedard to go for broke and force the Hawks to trade him, altho that is doubtful. Still, I would not expect to see any improvement in this team's offense for the length of Bedard entry level contract except to a minimal degree. Look, their best prospect after Bedard is Reichel and he is plain worthless, so why should any "fan" expect the other prospects who are currently floating around various other levels of hockey be expected to impact the Hawks' offense before Bedard's ELC has expired? You're thoughts and opinions are what our boards are for. Keep going on. Yeah, but not when I set out an incorrect premise. Thanks for calling me on it and setting me on the straight and narrow.

There is no harm in backing off him as there is no alternative. So, they might as well try to teach as much as possible and then let him go and see where he ends up. They can always dump him later, if he doesn't pan out.

He'll be an RFA at the end ELC. He won't be going anywhere unless opts for the KHL. That's the problem with websites like this one. If I was Bedard, I would know that there is a reason the 'hawks were a high-odd lottery team: we suck like Monica Lewinsky at a white house Christmas Dinner. The addition of him and a handful of others is not going to turn goat-piss into gasoline overnight. But, there should be improvement over the course of the next couple of years... As there was for 2 and 7 (the real 7, not Detriot's 2nd best 24). Compare 2006 to 2008 and 9. If the current gen 'hawks are still bottom feeders in that time frame then yeah, I expect Bedard to bolt, take the hightst offersheet, etc. But there is still time for improvement.

But, what concerns me, but doesn't put me on the ledge, is that they have no forwards other than Bedard who is worth anything on the current roster. The Rockford roster does not have anyone either; and who knows about the other Blackhawk property forwards currently playing in Juniors and college. There is a big difference between playing in the hinterlands and under the spotlights. Just ask Reichel, altho he was no superstar at lower levels either.

I was just joking with the Lucas comment. My biggest problem is I wanted the kid who went right after him. You bring up a great point about being insulated. He has flaws in his game he needs to work on them he has gotten a tiny bit better defensively. But he cant hold possession of the puck or use anything but his stick to regain possession. He has all year to work on it no better place to work on it than center. For me I just feel bad for CB and how little he has to work with. I believe that needs to change next year and Im not just talking Nascar or Moore easy part is almost over it will be time for KD to roll up his sleeves and get to work.

worst part (for me) losing 8-1 before a 4 day break is the boards are in a surly mood (understandably), and the chatter is mostly negative (understandably). certainly our luck will improve with the weak sisters (florida, jersey, tampa, florida and tampa) waiting in the wings.

I wanted the guy before Reichel, and so did the last GM. He even called Montreal and they said they were taking a forward, but they took a dman, Guhle. Basically a middle finger to Stan.

There is a big difference between playing in the hinterlands and under the spotlights. Just ask Reichel, altho he was no superstar at lower levels either. Perhaps, but on the other hand, late bloomers are a thing. See also: Sharp. Plus, as others have mentioned, we have prospect and draft capital that can be moved into other pieces which we might need. The issue is that Kyle from Chicago needs to be Savvy--much more so than his predecessor. He needs to listen to his scouts and hockey-braintrust to know which prospects are likely to stick, which are superfluous, and what potential incoming talent might be worth more than the throw-of-the-dice for a given draft pick. So, at least in my opinion: Vlassic has proven himself to be the kid who, right now, is the most NHL-ready of all of the youth defensemen (and the vets, but that's a separate tragedy)--in spite of his injury. So, naturally, we'll want to keep him. So, if there is someone else who plays his game, he's superfluous. If we can't move a superfluous vet for incoming needed pieces, what about a prospect? If there is a kid who plays Vlassic's game but is not as-good, why not? Plus, there could be a prospect who plays Vlassic's game, but is long-in-the-tooth and there's a younger prospect who might have more upside than the long-in the tooth prospect. It won't be easy and nothing is guaranteed. Plus, If the team is shit this year, that's another chance for a high pick. After all, the 2006 team was shit, had both Keith and Seabrook, and for the effort (or lack thereof from the at-the-time vet presence), we got Toews for our troubles with that 3oa pick. Same with the following year with Kane. Hell, back then we even previously squandered a 3oa pick with Cam barker (much like Kirby Dach) and still came out alright. Like said, Keith and Seabrook played on a right abysmal team their rookie year (and also got obliterated by a then-up-and-coming-but-bad Canucks team). Back then who was the upcoming FWD core? Ruutu? St. Pierre? It was pretty dismal. I was expecting this year to pretty much be the Bedard Highlight Show...and that's about it. We also got Vlassic which I'm happy about and hope that he bounces back fine. Baby steps.

I agree that the situation with the dmen is in pretty good shape, so I would let it go and work on getting some decent forwards. I think that if they want to get significantly better they will have to use the prospects and draft capital and turn them into other pieces as you suggest. However, those other pieces must be proven good NHL forwards----no Reichel clones. Then, they also have money to buy some free agents. How well they put all that together will determine whether they will become a Cup competitive team. Personally, I would rather see them do it sooner rather than later. I am getting tired of watching their miserable offensive performances game after game. There is some hope, but it is getting to be time to turn the hopes into reality.

I wonder if the Sharks will beat the record for the worst regular season record in the NHL set by the 74-5 Caps who totaled 21 points with a 8/67/5 record back when they only played 80 games. I think they got a good shot at it.

Whether or not they ultimately break it, the Sharks have made an excellent start on breaking it. It would be rather quirky to have the 22/23 season in which the Bruins set the point record for most points in a regular season followed by the Sharks setting the record for fewest points in a season. Glad I am not a Sharks fan.

Reichel practicing with 2nd line as a winger. I really hope he turns this around weather on wing or center. Not many forwards ready yet, I am pleasantly optimistic on the D though. Reichel looked "fast" and confident in camp/preseason. Not sure what changed or happened. I understand that is preseason and the regular season is a whole new level or levels. Man, he does not look good out there right now. Boy a goal or two would really help.
