On page 1 of this thread, I said:
"(... it would be good to see them beat another rebuilding franchise. If they don't, then they have even more serious problems than we already know exist."
I guess it's true, this is a franchise with very serious problems. I guess it is just waiting for the reinforcements who won't show up for 2, 3 or 4 years from now. That's a long time to hang on without reinforcements.

I missed the opening goal. Who fucked up? Jones fucked up, pathetic poke check on Jenner, completely misses, and Boone was able to bang in an ugly goal that shouldn't go in. 9+mill for an ok dman, definitely not a top paid top2 dman.

The doom and gloomers are loving this, step off the ledge, or jump and do us a favor.
It's the start of year 2 of the rebuild, it's not like they're constantly being blown out.

The doom and gloomers are loving this, step off the ledge, or jump and do us a favor. It's the start of year 2 of the rebuild, it's not like they're constantly being blown out. Look, the truth is that this team sucks. So what, they suck. They are rebuilding and they aren't any good. Maybe they are not constantly being blown out, but the just lost to the Preds and the Jackets, who are two of the downtrodden teams in the league. It only indicates how bad the Chicago franchise is. But, as you have mentioned numerous times, the help is on the way. So, it is just a matter of waiting for the help to arrive. When that happens is anyone's guess, but it ain't gonna happen for another 2-4 years. Until then, those who follow this team will just have to suffer thru the bad years. You call it doom and gloom. I call it a recognition of reality. Anyone who expects quality from this team is in la la land. This is a team that will be beat many times. That is not a statement of pessimism. It is a statement of reality. There is no reason to expect a bunch of wins from this team because they simply do not have enough quality players to win. Getting regularly beat is to be expected at this point and it will get better, hopefully. Honestly, what do you expect from posters like myself as you suggest that we jump and do the rest of you a favor? I cannot post that they are great and showing a lot of promise because they aren't. I have praised them when they played well in a few games this year, but have also indicated quite frankly when they do not; or when their offense is totally inept, which it is. Do you expect constant rah-rah-rah? On the other hand, I sort of get it. You don't like it when I post that they suck or that they don't have an offense because it is not necessary to state it since it is so obvious. If such posts are so offensive to you, then I will personally try to tone it down and not state the obvious. Would that be better because I do understand how continuing to state it might bother you? Here is a feel good story that I am posting to show you that I will try to be more positive in the future; or at least tone down the criticism: www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nhl/blackhawks-connor-bedard-joins-historic-company-despite-loss/ar-AA1komlO?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=0076a0a32cf3453fbe8e1cbd54fd76e6&ei=22

Davidson has $11+M in cap space. He can not "save" it for next year because that's not how the cap works. If it is not spent this year, it is done. The truth here is that the team once again is deliberately tanking while saving money on a cap-floor lineup. We all know it, and so do the players and coaches. We should not be surprised then that the team mails it in on many nights. The players are doing what management is directing them to do (lose). The team sells out most home games. Bedard jerseys are flying off the shelves. There is money to spend. The Wirtz family is likely making more money now on its hockey operations than ever before. My big concern - and I have expressed it here many times - is that this kind of deliberately losing environment might damage the development of young impressionable kids..... A team (Edmonton, Ottawa etc) can draft high for a decade or longer. It will be no further ahead if the coaches and veteran players can't teach the prospects to play the right way. To get the players fully on board, management must commit to winning by injecting real talent into the lineup. I thought the four kids on defence all looked awful last night -- perhaps their worst effort the entire year. Bedard and the other young forwards seemed allergic to backchecking for much of the game. Am I surprised? Sadly, not at all..... It is inevitable.

With the crazy amount of draft picks the past 2 years, especially rounds 1-3, they'll start to be implemented more next season and things will start to look better. This season is about getting the younger guys more experience, especially on D. They're learning and it'll only help once guys like Moore, Nazar, Dach, Greene, etc, get here. Similar to when Keith and Seabs broke into the league.

pro tip. (thnx to t-man for making me aware) when you copy and paste a URL (address) from X (twitter)...if you backspace over the first "x" in the address and write "twitter", the tweet will appear instead of just the address. so...copy and paste the address like you did. x.com/wallmaz.... etc.and change it to: twitter.com/wallmaz.... etc.that way lazy people like me don't have to needlessly burn half a calorie making that extra click.

Jones needs a Hjammer-type pairing to be effective. Maybe that is Vlassic. But he needs to be the D-anchor for the kids like Phillips or Korch. If he can't do that he has no business wearing the A. Jones would be better on the 2nd pair and not pout when he's not on the #1 PP unit. He needs to be moved somehow. jones earns a lot of the disdain he gets here but i don't agree calling him a pouter about getting moved to the 2nd unit. or pouting about not getting the "C". i mean...idk if he was asked to give his opinion on the vacant captaincy situation or if he just volunteered his opinion but if he was asked, what is he supposed to say? "i'm currently the 3rd longest tenured blackhawk in my 11th nhl season. why TF would i want to captain an original 6 team"? www.nhl.com/news/seth-jones-wants-to-be-next-chicago-blackhawks-captaini think too many people just read the headline and not the article.

I think just about any player would want to be captain of their team. Especially if they're signed long term as Jones. I don't think that's a bad thing. When the Hawks named Toews as captain, there were loads of veterans on the team who would have stepped into that role. But Toews already had that stoic swagger about him that he was a leader.
