They really need at least one person in the booth that has played hockey. I really hope the consider replacing Vosters, he's brutal. His goal calls seems forced and faked. He has no passion for the team, and comes across like he thinks people tune in to hear his stupid jokes. He should have been forced to do some games on radio first at least.

soderblom's second career shootout. he's allowed 6 goals on 6 shots unfortunately. He must have studied tapes of Robin Lehner’s “Five Hole Shootout” series. I’m no goalie but I’m guessing that that’s one position and one spot in a game where a young player can slide into a debilitating mental block. Painfully.

Hawks officially last in the league. I knew this team would be at the bottom, but not dead last. The frustration is mounting on the rookies, it’s quit evident in there play. The defensive zone play is atrocious. The biggest issue I see, if you can’t match a team with talent you need to match them with work ethic, and that’s where lies the problem. To many players coasting, out of position, making poor decisions. The team has had a few closed door meetings but it’s the same old, the energy and drive is lacking. The team as a whole needs to start focusing on the little things, clear out, dump ins, a hard forecheck, ice management, making smarter decisions, stop throwing the puck up,the middle in your own zone, start covering the trailer who seems to be always open, get in the corners and battle hard, get more physical.

If you call the defensive zone play "atrocious", what do you call the offensive zone play? The attempts to get the puck into the other team's defensive zone?

When Jones was playing in deeper last night, joining in the offense, with someone covering, things looked a lot better, more time in the o zone, things like that give more options, and seems to put the other team out of sorts to a small degree, there's a lot more,I know, but I liked it and needs to happen more,in a structured manner

Hawks officially last with 15 points. SJ with 16. On a side note. My son played in a tourney in Detroit last weekend. We played the SJ jr Sharks. Mike Griers son was on the team. He’s a lazy player. The coach was former player Jonathan Cheechoo. His son was on the team too. Cheechoo looked awful for 43. You would never think he made almost 60 million. I’m pretty sure he had a mustard stain on his shirt. Dude has quite the boiler on him too!!! I wonder how long that will last. It's gonna be an interesting race to the bottom. We’re already there. The Hawks have won the race. Bedard buys them some extra time. It’ll be better. Just watch!!!

seth 29:04, 2 apples and a +3. he made a soft cross-ice pass in his own end in the first that reminded me of a pass that i'd make but besides that he had a dandy game. likely heard his name called more than anyone tonight. I thought Seth engaged more into the offensive side of the ice far more than he usually does. He looked more like that two way guy we were promised. Jones wasn't two-way, even in Jr's. His backend play is acceptable-at-best. He doesn't have the in-zone prowess to cover for a guy like, say, Korchinski. In that respect he's less of a Duncan Keith and more of a Brian Campbell--which is not a bad thing. If he's paired with an Offensive d-man things go pear-shaped fast, but with someone who can cover the backend well, good things happen. Thankfully, Vlassic is looking like a defensive stud--the best we've had since Hjammer. Thus, that should free Jones up a bit more offensively so he can play more of his game, while Vlassic covers the back end. Now all we gotta do, like I said, is find a righty of that type to play with Korch.

Jack, the offensive zone play is just as bad. The team currently is atrocious in all areas of the ice.

But except for a couple of decent years in Columbus, (with Panarin?) he’s had fairly pedestrian numbers. For a supposedly #1 I’d expect at least 65 points and exceptional defensive qualities.

If you think about it, Hjammer and Campbell would have been a 1-2 pair on a lot of teams that didn't have Keith and Seabrook. Trying to take his salary out of it (Since anyone who knows hockey would have never paid him that much), pairing him with a D-stud would make the pairing top-4 if not top-2, as long as he lets his partner cover on D. If he tries to be a Defensive specialist, like covering for Korch, things go sideways. Might as well keep classic with him until we can get another guy who can play D at a high level (preferably a Righty)
