I think you made the point you wanted to make anyway. Although I see it was Korchinski with the-3, but one EN probably. Korchinski has been terrible defensively too. Both he and Arty have too many clueless moments when they're supposed to be defending. I've watched the last 6gms and Korchinski hasn't been terrible, far from it. He's reading the plays much better than last season and far more aggressive. Friday's loss when he was -3 not one goal was his fault. And the first 2 on 1 I saw he quickly attacked the puck carrier and broke up the play, the many he saw last season he would hesitate and couldn't break up the pass or block the shot. Levshunov tries low percentage plays with the puck and coughes it up at times but he's been good without the puck, he has a strong stick and uses his size to separate guys from pucks. A lot of the goals against are from the forwards losing their man and the goalies letting it weak goals. Plus Guttman and Seney have had some bad turnovers for goals against.

I didn't say they have been bad in all aspects of the game - but what I've seen that I consider terrible is getting caught out of position and too often flat footed looking around for the puck rather than looking for a man to cover. Korchinski has shown better instincts playing in the d-zone than Arty, but far from good enough to play against NHL players. Arty makes more mental mistakes that are compounded by hesitation with knowing what to do to correct or minimize the mistake - there have been times when he's stood there flat footed like he's thinking about what to do. I'm not dumping on Arty because I wanted Demidov instead of him - that's water under the bridge - i want him to succeed and be the guy KD wanted him to be. Unfortunately I've seen a guy that is struggling defensively - at least in my opinion based on what I've seen so far.

Isaak Phillips sent down to Rockford and with Anthanasiou getting waived and probably not claimed with that cap hit. Both should add some nice juice to the hogs.

This is the best move for the team and the player as well.
AA has not played much in two years. He needs to get back in game shape, play every day and rediscover a feel for the game again. He did not look good this fall. A few months in Rockford could make a big difference. If nothing else, he gets the opportunity to showcase what he can do. Should he produce good numbers, a team looking for depth scoring and some speed in their bottom six might come calling in February.
Davidson was not wrong to re-sign Athanasiou. It was unfortunate the player got hurt. Hopefully he still has something left, though I would be surprised. Injuries do have a habit of catching up to players.

Hogs get that ass whooped again Forgot it was a very early start, Hogs only gave up 21 shots to one of the top teams in the league. Drew gave up all 5 goals on 21 shots, his numbers are horrible, 3.71 GAA 854 SA%. Hopefully it's a sophomore slump, but it's not encouraging for the "goalie of the future".

Hogs get that ass whooped again So far, Nazar is the only one looking like he’ll crack an NHL roster. Arty is young and raw, so really can’t comment on his play so far. KK is a bit concerning. Commesso, EDM and a few others that joined Rockford. When the coach tells Dach he had a good game and keep doing that, then he decides to take the next few games off. That is very disappointing. So far, there’s very few bright spots in this rebuild. Leave out Bedard. If this was all we had, it would be very discouraging to see the end of this. I really hope that we see more kids play stronger games by the new year. I get it, most are new to pro hockey. Gotta give em time. But maybe there’s too many young kids in the farm? A few years ago LA drafted Brandt Clarke. He spent a total of 55 games in the AHL. He now has 13 points in 17 games. He’s a 6’2” 200 right shot dman. I sure hope the Hawks get some of that soon. It seems every team has been hitting on their picks. Gotta start seeing some hope here soon!!!

I didn't see the game today - what's with a 10am start? Obviously AA getting 2 goals is noteworthy and to a lesser extent so is Commesso giving up 5 goals. Does anyone have a report on the game?

It seems every team has been hitting on their picks. Gotta start seeing some hope here soon!!! If you watched the games and didn't go by the stats line lol, you'd see EDM is a stud back there and a calming presence, he'd be an upgrade over TJ or Martinez, sure his numbers aren't as good but he's making smart plays with and without the puck. And Dach didn't have a point last game but he could've had 2-3pts, he was hitting and creating chances but Cossa was literally huge. He has 5pts in his last 5gms and 8 in his last 10. Korchinski isn't lighting it up but he's playing much more aggressive and starting scrums and even had some big hits, plus he's much stronger in front of the net, I'm not worried about him. The 3rd line of Hayes, Ludwinski and Savoie are all rookies but show a lot of promise, Savoie looks NHL ready. So does Slaggert and Rolston. Of course Nazar is the top guy, it's impressive he's 0+/- when almost every is a minus, and 11pts in 10gms. He's fun to watch and creates a lot of chances, usually out of nothing. The main reason the Hogs are struggling is the goalies letting in soft goals, both goalies GAA are over 3 and both their save percentages are under 0.890. And some of the vet forwards with bad turnovers and not producing, Sandford only has 3 assists and he's -9. Many times guys like Seney, Guttman, and tiny Mayhew turned it over in their own end and resulted in goals against. Also, Sorensen should be let go, his lines and system are bad.

I watched the last game until it was 2-2, because it was downhill after that, but the Hogs came out flying and could've easily been up 3-0 after the first 5mins, Cossa was huge in net.
Dach barely missed shortside on a onetimer, Guttman shot it through Cossa and hit inside the far post, and Savoie had a breakaway and went forehand backhand and Cossa got his leg on it, could've been a totally different game.
When it was 2-2 Levshunov was in his corner and yelled and pointed at a forward to reverse it but they played it to him when he was covered, he tried putting it around the boards but it was picked off and GR scored from a bad angle.
Another goal against Phillips with a bad turnover at his blueline and GR walked in and used Levshunov as a screen.
The worst goal against was a goal that shouldn't go in, the puck was in the corner and Korchinski was pointing for someone to cover him, AAs man, but he was left alone and shot it top shelf short side.
Even the play by play guy said it should've been more than 1-0 Hogs after 1 period.
The vet forwards, goalies, and coaching are hurting this team.

Figured someone would say that Ludwinski was benched so ill add that OTH you are the first one that I have heard is happy with Kors play. Team is a lot like the big club cant come close to putting together 60 min and a lot of excuses. Lets hope they get out of this funk.

Team is a lot like the big club cant come close to putting together 60 min and a lot of excuses. Lets hope they get out of this funk. Ludwinski is working his ass off but snake bitten, Savoie set him up with some great chances but nothings going in, hopefully sitting him gives him a spark. And Korchinski is playing far more aggressive than last season and reading plays better in his own end. But I wouldn't say I'm happy with him though because he's an offensive dman and should be putting up bigger numbers. Just like the big club the PP works the perimeter and looks bad most games, Korchinski is the QB and needs to step up and start producing. The last game vs GR Korchinski had a couple great looks but couldn't score and one play he had a nice give n go with AA and Korchinski set him up with a perfect pass all alone in the slot...then AA passed it back to Korchinski, could've got a hatrick.

Well Hogs win!! Thats not a very good team and Im talking about the hogs. If you think the big club struggles to pass and receive passes hogs are the same it was kinda rough hoping it was just this game. Young D guys Arty and Kor still need work Arty more than Kor. No one really stood out if I had to pick Nascar and Savoie. The Gutpunch Slag and Dach line had a couple good shift but nothing that would get you to excited. Daughter will be at Sundays game maybe she will have a better report. The new casino is real nice so that was a plus before and after game.

I watched only a bit of the Hogs game last night because I flipped over and stuck with a lot of the Denver (Thompson) - North Dakota (Boisvert) game. From the small sample of Hogs game I thought KK and Arty looked better than they had previously - not without blemish, but even a little better is better than "not better".
The UD/UND game was a fun watch. Denver is not only the reigning NCAA champs - they're currently the #1 rated team in the NCAA at 11-0 and are a freaking juggernaut machine and Aiden Thompson is a major piece. He had a assist and a nice one-timer goal last night. He now has 19 points (8g/11a) in 11 games. He's a good skater who is always moving and engaged in all 3 zones. Is he NHL level good? I don't know because he's already 22 so maybe he'll top out at a AHL/NHL tweener like our other Denver alum Cole Guttman - but he's a fun player to watch. The other player I was watching - Sasha Boisvert was pretty much invisible - but he's a freshman and his team was getting boat raced - so ...
