Derek King will be replaced by mid season. The HC normally chooses his own coaching staff but LR inherited his including King.

Yesterday, I doubled down on my initial prediction from July that they will marginally improved and finish with 66 points. After watching the game last night I'm tempted to change my prediction to something less than 66 ... but I'll hold steady for now.
However, after 6 preseason games and the opening regular season games - my attention is being pulled to the 2025 draft class, specifically the players projected to go in the top-5 because I will be (pleasantly) surprised if the Hawks aren't drafting in the top-5 next June. The top-3 forwards are projected to be James Hagens, Porter Martone and Michael Misa. I'm already on record of saying "let's play like pagans for James Hagens" - but Hagens is only 5'10 and while he's a very gifted player - he's only 5'10". On the other hand - Martone is a 6'3" power forward LW who already is leading the OHL with 5g/8a in 5 games. And Misa is 6'1" and 2nd in OHL scoring with 10 goals in 5 games.

I am a little more sanguine about Hawk's record this year. The preseason not withstanding, it has been only one game, in which after a horrible start, the Hawks got their shit more or less together and acquitted themselves pretty well for the most of the game. I think that once they reach a certain level of cohesion, they will look decent.

I think they fed off the energy from the first game there. Now tomorrow we’ll see the Jets. I’m very nervous about that game. I could see that game going south in a hurry. If they lose 3-2 or 4-3. I’d be ok with that. Good effort and the wins will come. But they can’t pick and choose which period they wanna play in!!!

The Coyotes were 5gms below .500 last season and had 35 wins, plus they upgraded their D. Of course they fed off the energy of their first game in Utah but they're not that bad. Not all teams fed off their home crowd in their home opener, loved seeing Winnipeg beat Edmonton 6-0. But now we'll see how Chicago does in Winnipegs home opener tomorrow night.

But….. can’t take the first off anymore!!!
