With the amount of activity generated by the untimely demise of our cat, Holly, and everyone sharing their pet experiences, I figured we might as well centralize it. So come on in here and post some of your photos of your pets if you so desire--whether in memoriam or otherwise. Holly (In Memoriam)Unfortunately we had to euthanize Holly recently, but she was a 13 year old domestic shorthair (even though she looked a lot like a korat). She was chill, social, regal, would love to sit on laps and watch hockey, or chill on my wife lap while she read. She was one of those cats who loved to lick her guardians. Aside from the 'nip, her addiction was condensation on a glass--if your glass has some condensation on it she would try to come over and lick it off. She was also great to photograph. The picture here was one of a small set where I was experimenting with a portrait lighting scheme, and she came over to the little bench I had set up and sat down. She helped me tweak the final light settings. She came down with a very aggressive metastatic lymphoma that started attacking her organs, so euthanasia was the only option. Firefly
Firefly is about 5 years old. She is a dilute tortoiseshell Manx (for those not in the know about cat breeds--no tail). True to her coloring, she does have the "tortitude"; she's sassy vocal, wants her way and lets you know when she's pleased or displeased. She will tap us with her paw when she wants you to pay attention to her and she will regularly "converse". Unlike Holly was, she's not too social and the minute someone else comes in *vip!* she's gone and behind a couch or under the bed.

I'm not a cat guy but my girlfriend is "the cat lady", she has a dozen or so cats. Hence why I don't live with her. LOL Plus my dog has to be center of attention and he let's you know it.

I know pets like that. Firefly could be considered that except only towards my wife and I. Generally I made this for any/all pets. Dogs, Cats, Birds, Fish, Rabbits, Lizards, Snakes, Tarantuals, et al. Personally, I'm most partial to cats but I don't hate any type of pet. Hell, before the new plague if someone was walking a dog and the dog came up to me friendly-like my question to the owner would be, "Is it a good girl or a good boy?"

My dog Ball Buster. If you know him, you'd understand the name. Wear a cup if you come to visit.

So for those following along at home, Yes, we did adopt a new cat from a shelter. Wife named her Kaylee keeping in the Sci-fi tradition (the engineer from the TV show Firefly). 4 months old. Lives up to her namesake.

Been awhile since this happened, but I didn't post it here...yet: So about a year ago we did an emergency re-home for a pair of cat sisters. Their owner's husband had just died of a heart attack , and she was mobility-impaired so having a pair of cats underfoot could have been bad for her. So, we took them in. Luna on the lower-left, Ariel on the upper right. So, yes. We have 4 cats. My wife put it brilliantly: "If you have 4 dogs or 4 kids, no one bats an eyelash, but if you have 4 cats...suddenly YOU are the crazy one."
