Reinsdorf isn't doing anything to correct the upper management problem, and in the case of LaRussa adding to the problem. They either hire a manager who's been out of the dugout for a decade or hire a first time manager. Grifol is simply awful. In a recent game he sits his 3 and 4 hitters......who does that in the same game? And he seems to cater to the hispanic players. Case in point.......Gavin Sheets has been with the team now for several years and sits on the bench with Colas is played every game in RF, and he has shown nothing to indicate he should have been handed the RF job. Then Moncada, one of the many injury prone Sox, barely plays this season but as soon as he comes back, Grifol moves Benetendi from leadoff to 5th and puts Moncada in the 2nd spot. What exactly has Moncada done the last 2+ years to immediately be put back in the lineup? And to make room for him, they trade a guy in Jake Burger who led the team in homers and has overcome adversity with not 1 but 2 achilles tears. His average wasn't great, but at least you could see he was enjoying the game.
This team needs to be blown up completely and start over. Get rid of the oft injured Moncada, Roberts, Jiminez and bring in guys who actually play 150 or more games a season. Doesn't help to have these guys when they constantly miss huge portions of every year. Don't get me wrong, I like Robers and Jiminez, but these talented players aren't helping if they can't stay on the field.
And get a manager with major league experience who hasn't been out of the game for a decade.
The White Sox are pathetic, and I am afraid you are right another teardown is looking possible. They told us when they tore down the team several years back that this was needed to sustain success and excellence for a long period of time. How's that worked out? They bring in LaRussa and that did not work out (no playoff series wins). We were told that Grifol "aced" the interview, a player's manager and great communicator. How's that working out so far? Burger to you point was bringing some excitement and fun to the game and fans and he is gone. Reports are the Marlins wanted Jimenez (just a matter of time before he is on the DL again), but Sox backed off and turned to Burger. We were told that Grandal was the best pitch frame catcher in the game and how he was going to help the pitching staff, really? Cease has taken a step back this year, Anderson is a mess, Kopech, great stuff, up and down and trouble throwing strikes, and while I like Vaughn, he was the third overall pick in his draft class, and you need your first basemen to hit homeruns and drive in runs. Between Jimenez, Grandal, and Moncada, my opinion they are all soft and you can keep them. Roberts though I would not trade. Colas, another hyped rookie with 3 homers and batting close to the Mendoza line. Clearly losing Abreu has not helped, this guy played hard and wanted to play every day, Too bad Jimenez, Moncada and Grandal rather rest all of those soft tissues in their soft bodies.

Living in Georgia now and still a Sox fan but now a Braves fan also because they are National League and as a Sox fans always cheer for 2 teams the Sox and anybody who plays the Cubs. Watching the Braves this year reminds me of the 05 Sox. They have it all and then some while having so much fun in the dugout. Wife was pissed at me when they played because I was rooting for the Sox which they took two π also was wearing my Podsednik jersey around town and telling the Braves fans " Y'all are going down ".

I'm a rare breed who's always rooted for both Cubs and Sox. But I don't like the makeup of the Sox team at all. I like a good ethnic mix on teams, but Sox seem to be leaning way too heavy on Latin players. I can't relate to a team like this. I think the manager has been awful all season, and it really seems the players already tuned him out and just go out and go thru the motions. I don't see much in the way of positive emotions, and the one player that you would, Jake Burger, was traded. Vaughn never seems to enjoy playing, and I would have dumped him before Burger. And Sheets has never been given a fair shot at any position, yet an unproven player like Colas has been handed the right field position. I'd prefer seeing Sheets at first being much taller and left handed, which is an advantage on both pickoffs and throws to 2nd on ground balls with potential double plays. Height makes a difference at 1st for high throws as well. And if given a chance to play regularly, I think Sheets has more homer potential then Vaughn. Sox need power. Moncada needs to go, but who'd want an injury prone player. Anderson can go too.....he was a favorite of mine but his antics on the field the last few years and outbursts has soured me on him. As I said before, the Sox need a complete tear down from front office down. And stop going cheap on managers and hire someone with some managerial success, not a bench coach from a losing organization. He's brought that losing atmosphere with him from KC. Hopefully this offseason will see major changes made. Until then, I'm out and won't waste my time on any more Sox games.

I think thatβs an excellent summary. Interesting what you said about Anderson as I too have soured for the reasons you mentioned. Tired of poor defensive play and a mediocre (at best) bullpen.

I don't follow them closely enough to be able to have an opinion on what is wrong with this franchise. It is enough to know that when year after year shows failure, there is something wrong with the management that cannot be fixed. They can't figure out to who to draft or acquire by trade or free agency. Compare their process and results to the Mariners and one can easily see how pathetic the Sox are. They are a bunch of chumps from the bottom to the top and it will never change.

A complete tear down is in order and is finally under way. That said the ownership is the same and it allowed the decay and decline so can it actually be rebuilt? We shall see . . .

Looks like Reinsdorf is going to play the move threat again as their lease is up in 6 years according to Crains and most likely sock it the taxpayers if they stay. I would just let them go, it will always be a Cubs town, very few if any visit Chicago to go a White Sox game, although parking and other amenities are much better on the south side. The product and effort this year is embarrassing. A bunch of lazy and always hurt players for the most part, just collecting paychecks. They should have fired 75% of the team, good riddance Chicago White Sox. The Cubs on the rise again, 2nd best farm system, great TV contract, great revenue streams coming in and national fan base that just goes to the games to mostly party.

I thought Williams and Hahn were gone 10 years ago. Shows how much I care less about this team. And I'm a lifelong Sox fan.

Anyone think the sox will win 10 games this year? Not sure about only 10 wins, will break team record for more losses of 106 IMO.
