taking rangers in 5 because i'm banking on playoff freddie andersen to appear soon.
and although carolina has more balanced scoring, they've always lacked that star power. it's been the same problem for them year after year.

Don't know if the Canes have enough physical play in them to slow the Rags down.

First, I was very glad to see Panarin score. I always liked him and his personality.
Some of these guys must not be too smart. In fact, they might be downright stupid. All week I have been reading about how good the Ranger power play is. So, here is what the Cane players do. De Angelo lands an elbow to the head of a Ranger at the end of a little scrum----2 minute minor and Ranger power play goal in 2 seconfs. Then, Kuznetsov cross checks Fox in the face when the puck is nowhere near the incident---2 minute minor, but this time it takes the Rangers a whole 30 seconds to score. So, that is 2 power play goals and the Canes lose by one. Real smart, Canes.
Then to top things off the Canes get a power play with 40 seconds to go in the game. So, Svechnikov promptly trips a Ranger for a 2 minute minor and the face off goes deep in the Cane end. Adios Cane power play and game. Three stupid plays go a long way in explaining a one goal loss. Are these anomalies, or are they really that stupid?

Are these anomalies, or are they really that stupid? way she goes. I am not so sure about that. It seems to me that there is a basic lack of control of emotions and an inability to think before acting. "Way she goes" is when there is a slap shot that gets deflected right past the goalie and he has no chance of making the save. Cross-checking a guy in the face to give the Rangers a power play is plain stupid.

Cross-checking a guy in the face to give the Rangers a power play is plain stupid. he didn't cross check him in the face, his teammate tripped the player as he turned and Deangelo's elbow rode up and hit him in the face. he shouldn't have even gotten the penalty cuz he I saw it more as guys maybe playing a little out of control than purposely doing dumb shit. I'm sure it'll settle down as the series goes on. edit: nm, I forgot about Kuznetsov penalty. again, I doubt that keeps up. not if he wants to play, anyway.

I like Brindamour, he gets the team in the playoffs, even always win the first round, but how lany of that until you start asking “maybe he isnt the right coach?”

I won't say the Canes have the most loaded team in the league but they do play a defensive style that should prosper in the PO's but really hasn't. They rarely figure-out how to score that 'big' goal when needed and the undisciplined play you pointed out falls at the feet of any HC and it cost em the opener.

Maybe "the Bod" tells his players that they only call 1 out of every 7 infractions, or whatever the percentage is, so go ahead and get the advantage as often as possible by dirty plays since we'll only get called on it so often; and, even then, they only score on 25% of the power plays. Who knows, but to lose by one goal after outright gifting them two power play goals don't seem so smart to me and I can barely speak English.

I find it weird that they started this series so early. It seems like they started them a couple days early. They’re the only ones that played the other night.
Anyways, I say Rags in 6!!!

Anyways, I say Rags in 6!!! not as weird as Edmonton and Vancouver not starting until tomorrow night, even though both have been done with their first round series for days... pretty sure the rags series will be over before a game 6 in the van/edm series begins...

Gotta give the Rags credit. Haven’t lost yet in these playoffs. Pretty impressive 6-0. This may be their year to get there!!!

I still maintain my opinion on the Canes. They have no real star power. They remind me of the good Predators teams. Very deep team, but no stars to elevate them to greatness. It’ll be more of the same. Just don’t see it working out for the Canes!!!

Then the Canes got called for 3 in the 3rd, the Rags got none, that led to the tying goal. Yes the Rags got 1 each of the OT periods and the Canes none.

I'm still not sure how it favored the Rags, yeah the three in the third was lopsided but Trouba and Panarin were called for penalties in OT, they didn't capitalize but NY did when they had their 1 PP in OT.

if my math hasn't failed me, the rags have been outshot 129-87 but lead series 3 to zip.
shesterkin is definitely earning his paycheque. save percentage at .938% in the series.

I know Shesterkin gave up the late goal in game 3 to tie, but he is the difference in this series with Rangers now with stranglehold 3-0 series lead.
Boy Lafreniere is a force as well. There was a time where there were reports that he was available and did Rangers make a mistake taking him first overall. You can longer touch this guy and he is going to get even better.
