www.nhl.com/news/stanley-cup-qualifiers-predictions/c-317693016gonna drop this here..... a whopping one person picked the 'hawks to beat the oil. I don't feel like going back to look, but I don't think a single person picked a qualifying team besides the loafs (naturally) to make the Cup Finals. nor did anyone pick the blows to repeat. hope they got that part right.....

The guy who picked the leaves to win the trophy was tim campbell. I believe you said the same guy's picks were "dogshit" in the article you posted about the ranking of the S.C. playoff coaches this year. : )

not looking good for scheifele. there's chatter that tkachuk's right skate blade may have contacted sheifele's ankle area. hopefully not an achilles. don't think it was anything intentional on tkachuk's part.
still like the jet's chances against calgary.
edit: uhm....maybe not. laine left halfway thru the 3rd with what looked like a wrist or arm injury.

Like Dach's skate on Ennis. Ennis had a tough game with the Cags hit and then the Dach skate. Hope he's alright.

took the war room about 5 minutes to reach a decision but it was deemed a good goal. colorado wins 2-1. hard to imagine a closer call than that one.
always nice to see the blues lose...

I had a beer with him when I went to Columbus for the draft and he was the Leaves coach. He’s a great guy. But I think he’s wrong here. I don’t think Chucky kicked him. I think it may have been a bit careless, but it’s just an accident. I know it’s unfortunate and that’s their #1 center. I get it, Chucky is a dirty player at times, but this wasn’t one of them. There was no distinct kicking motion. I give all the credit in the world to Tkachuk, he got called out and called upon to answer the bell 🔔 . He did and didn’t complain about it either. He’s a pest and he’s needed in the game. He can play for my team any day!!!

I had thought I got past that, thanks for bringing up my childhood memories I tried to suppress. I can’t post pics well from my phone, probably have to use a host site to do so and I’m too lazy to do it. But I’ve got some cool old Polaroids somewhere of me as a 12 year old skating with Maurice, Adam Graves, Glen Featherstone, Jim Revenberg, Pete Deboer etc. Good times, bad colours!!!

blue jackets playing playoff hockey, the leafs still in the regular season, freddie anderson gives up his obligatory one iffy goal per playoff game...adds up to a 1-0 series lead for columbus. say what you want about tortorella....his teams work hard.

sounds like the Jets are stewed. I was betting on Hellebuyck to win that series, though, so not all hope is lost.
seems like the lower seeds are fairing well thus far in the qualifying round. hope it keeps up.

Absolutely. The BJs came with their metal lunch pails. And smashed them into the faces of the Leaves. I know it’s one game in. But the leaves have a horrible track record stemming back decades of not showing up. And this exact core has a knack for not being big game players. It’s sad when OV calls out the leaves and says “they gotta decide on what kind of players they wanna be? Gotta play selfless hockey in the post season. Can’t be selfish”. And that’s coming from one of the most selfish players ever!!!

just caught the last 5 minutes but was surprised to see the jets (minus laine and scheifele) beat calgary. didn't see that coming. 'canes seemed to win easy today, i'm a bit surprised they're poised to sweep the rags.

I watched just the first Hawks game and the last two periods today. Between, my apologies for not following closely in the third period when things deteriorated. My bad, sorry for the loss. Lesson learnt - I will follow the next one completely and we'll surely win

Lesson learnt - I will follow the next one completely and we'll surely win i really only follow the hawks 100%, but i do keep tabs on the leafs and the jets, my older brothers' teams. i likely mentioned minny because i wasn't expecting much from them but they played an impressive "playoff style" which i haven't seen too much of due to the circumstances i suppose. the jackets also impressed me. out of the round robin games, none have really blew my socks off although i expect hockey quality to improve as the tournament progresses. i'd like to follow closer but with games kicking off at 2 am here, it's not easy to watch them all. i hope the remainder of the hawk's games (how ever many there are) start at a more civilized hour.

looks to me like the 'hawks are looking at either Vegas or Colorado should they get by the Oil.....
can't say I like our chances, tbh.

I dunno.... Vegas just owns us, it seems. the Avs are fast and deep. either way, Crow is officially announcing his Smythe campaign in case anyone misses it at the end of this round with the Oil.
