News stories today say Nylander will be out for four to six months after meniscus surgery. He must have really had a serious problem as most athletes only miss a few weeks for this type of surgery. But, more important, although I do feel sorry for the guy, it appears that he just will never pan out for the Hawks. I hope he has some other skills he can turn into a job that pays him what "normal people" can earn.

I've had both right and left knee surgery for meniscus tears (actually having another on December 28th on my right knee). Recovery time for the left knee was 4 to 6 weeks. Although my surgeon told me the recovery time on my right knee would also be 4 to 6 weeks prior to surgery, after it was repaired he told me 4 to 6 months (while I was under anesthetic so don't recall him ever telling me this). So obviously must have been much more severe and because I was under the impression of the shorter time frame, I was walking on it way too early and believe that is why I need to have it repaired again.

I wonder if we'll get more details about the tear Nylander had. It was said he suffered the injury during the playoffs, rested it, then when he started to train "conservatively", as the article put it, symptoms began to appear again.

I hope Stan doesn't make another mistake with the guy. I think we both know that Bowman is going to bring him back, especially now that he has missed the season in which he was supposed to show whether he was improving or not. I'm guessing he will get a 2 year deal for less than a million a year.

I'm hoping he's healthy enough to expose in the expansion draft. Idk if seattle would bite or not or if stan would even consider it.

At least he could be used to shield an actual hockey player with some actual use from being picked.

I know it's become common for athletes to put off surgeries until the start of an upcoming season even though the injury occurred in the previous postseason and it sounds like physical therapy was attempted first but the Vegas series ended over four months ago.......he could have been well on his way to recovery by now.

I was thinking about that too Bob, but only excuse, might be due to covid-19, but I doubt that
