i guess i wasn't paying much attention to the rosters because i was surprised to read this. youth vs experience. should be interesting. not sure if commesso starts again or not. edit: commesso is backing up strauss mann tonight. Apparently youth had the upper hand in this first game. |

While the Slovaks are not playing as good as they should, our youngster Slafkovsky is tied with 4 goals scored at the top of the rankings. Will surely help him in the rankings prior to the draft. |

Wow, totally unexpected. We've eliminated the United States. Would have never happenned if the NHL boys would participate, but the history will not ask. We're in the semifinals! ...and 17 years old Slafkovsky notching another tally, his 5th in the tournament.

Actually looked for some Olympic hockey to watch last night,scoured the many channels and the Comcast Olympic page......no mention of a game. I'm okay though....the last thing I need to see right now is another American Olympic collapse.
When was that game played? Are there more games today? I pay some attention and I still don't know.....no wonder the ratings suck.

i've somehow never seen this before or even heard of it.
it's from the 2002 salt lake city olympics, canada had just defeated the u.s. 3-2 for the gold.
in between periods 2 and 3 in the intermission, a rumor had surfaced in the canadian dressing room that the americans had a canadian flag on the floor of their room and were walking on it. (the rumor was later debunked by a usa hockey and canadian hockey association investigation).
anyways, the emotions when these teams play is second to nobody, including the men. tonight will be no different i'm sure.
this interview takes place after canada had won the game. idk if you can see it but hayley appears to be a bit upset. : )

When the americans pulled to within 1 with 12 secs on the clock i almost fully expected them to tie it before time elapsed.
Thats just the way this rivalry plays out usually.
Our goalie ann-renee desbien was rock solid stopping 38 of 40 this game and 51 of 53 against the u.s. in the preliminary game. .957% total.

When it was 3-0 I was thinking, finally it won't be a 1 goal game, nope, it was lol. 36 times in 163 meetings it was a 3-2 final. |
