Very sorry to hear of your diagnosis.
I enjoyed getting to know you during the summers UND Hockey School when I was an instructor there. The Thursday night "Gino's treats" at the "Moon" were a lot of fun, getting to know a lot of the former Sioux players that had gone on, like you did, to the NHL. The fact that you played for my favorite team (Chicago) just made it a little more special for me.
I know lots of Hawks fans everywhere will keep you in their thoughts and prayers, as we will, also. Your attitude will play a major part in your recovery process, and I know that you are a battler and will do everything needed to have one more "Sioux" victory!

So he will have this beat, great support group he has is family.

Great photo, GT. It brought back a lot of memories and seeing a lot of the former Sioux hockey players was fun. In the photo, Troy is in the very back of the group and can be seen if you look over the right shoulder of player #5 (that's back when Troy had hair). I recognized a few other NHLer's-to-be. The goalie kneeling on the left in the photo is Jon Casey (North Stars and Blues). I believe that Dave Tippett (former player for the Kings and others, and now coaching the Oilers) is standing third from the right (he's in street clothes behind coach Gino Gasparini).
Although he never played in the NHL, Dean Blais (standing in back, third from the left) went on to have a very successful coaching career, winning two NCAA Championships at North Dakota, and won a World Junior coaching the US team. He also was an NHL asst. at Columbus. A knee injury when he played for the Dallas Blackhawks in the old CHL prevented him from becoming a Chicago Blackhawk. He would have been a good one!
Thanks, GT, for the memories. Now I only can hope that Troy comes out with a clean bill of health and lives on to do many more hockey games on the radio (or on TV).

On a positive note. The vaccines for mrna have shown the way to help fight cancer. Now researchers have learnt from them that they can give the body a “blueprint” on how to beat or at least fight off cancer. The vaccines have shown that they give the body instructions on how to eliminate what it’s designed to go after. Now they’ve turned it towards cancer and it’s looking promising.
Let’s hope we get some better news as time goes on here. It sucks to see people battle this disease and get wasted away by doing it with chemotherapy. We now have hemp to help the fight. Let’s hope the mRNA vaccines help the rest and cancer becomes a minor threat to people!!!

UND is located in Grand Forks. There are other future NHL players in that photo, but I could not make them out.

Troy will be back in the booth tonight to call the game with John on Hawks radio. Great to hear he's back in the booth. This is awesome news. One of my all time favorites. Have a funny story about watching him on the ice with a group of kids at the UC. I believe he was coaching them in a game situation. At one point, he moved the goal from behind the goalie without his knowledge, then had the kids go thru a drill to try and score. When they came in, the kid in goal had no idea why they shot into the corner until he turned around, saw the net had been moved. Murray was laughing his head off, and the kids got a kick out of it too!
