What a game this was. Canada won 3-2 in OT. Canada trailed 2-0 after one. I didn’t know that they do 3 on 3 for a full 20 in OT.
We were at that exact arena earlier in August for a tourney for my boy. It’s in Calgary at the Winsport arena. That facility is next level. Like totally National league.
But good for women’s hockey. It’s come a long way. Hopefully it goes further for all of them. The other teams are now catching up to the US and Canada. Should be great things to come!!!

When we were out there in early August, there was absolutely no Covid protocol at all. No, mask, no physical distancing, no nothing. Just life as usual. Did the IIHF put their own protocols in for this? I found it weird that we had a packed house for our kids tourney, but this one was no one allowed. That facility though is unreal. Like 6 ice sheets, and the main bowl in its own building. They have luge tracks and all that jazz. It’s just General Winter comes by for 6-7 months there, and it’s tough sometimes to make it through. We went to Banff after for a week. The locals there said the winter there lasts like 8 months. That’s 7.5 months longer than I would like!!!

It was cool, I got to see my cousin who lives in Cochrane just outside of Calgary. He’s from Windsor. He said your first winter is the worst time of your life. He’s been out there 10 years now so he’s used to it. Windsor’s coldest day on record is -29.1. And that rarely happens. -5 is a cold day here. Usually that’s the night time low. Day time high is around -1 or 0. So it’s cold, but not like that. I can walk around during the day with a light jacket and not be bothered. Today is 23 and it feels cold as hell due to it being 35 the last few weeks. However, I’ll be like you and head to the tropics one fine day. November to March is grey and cooler temps. Gets depressing at times with not much sunlight!!!
