What a sniper he was. A true GOAT during his time.

Sad news, his career and life were both cut short.

Like everyone said great scorer/sniper. He had a great shot with quick release. From what I remember was not flashy or smooth skater, just filled up the net on a consistently basis. 15th overall pick in 1977, Hawks drafted Doug Wilson 6th overall. Also drafted 44th overall WHA by Indianapolis Racers.

Teammates of Trottier and Denis Potvin among many others on a talent loaded team. Not taking anything away from him - as others have posted, he was a great goal scorer.

He's the only player with a minimum of 400gms that's over 20% shooting accuracy, only player to have 9 straight 50 goal seasons, his 10th and final season his back was a mess and he still almost had 40 goals. Definitely a great goal scorer, probably the best.

We have guys that can not even hit the net from right in front.

RIP Mr Bossy. What a player he was. 9 straight 50+ goal seasons. He seemed to be one hell of a guy too. 65 is not a full life. It would a been nice to see him get another 10-15 years. Sad day for hockey!!!

bossy had to score twice in the last 5 minutes to get his 50th goal in his 50th game, something that at the time had only been done once before.
to my recollection there was nothing really remarkable or flashy about bossy. you could kind've compare him to gretzky that way. maybe above average in a few facets of the game but nothing else really that would jump out at you. but like gretzky, he had such great vision and just pure hockey sense. it's something that cannot be coached into a player, you're just born with it somehow.

The other day reading the Kane thread someone was commenting on his lack of checking and it reminded me of Mike Bossy being passed over twice by the Leafs because he couldn't check and like Kane in the end it didn't matter as the other teams were doing most of the checking. RIP

Born goal scorer plain and simple

Islanders had a wonderful video tribute for Mike Bossy before their game with the Panthers Tuesday night, with many teammates and opponents talking about his amazing career. Not sure it will be available anywhere, but it's definitely worth seeing if anyone can find it.
