So it was their 1000th game playing together. I was confused. Kane and Toews played their 1000th game together vs the Rangers Sunday. Both have played over 1000. But the Columbus broadcast kept saying both were playing their 1000th game, and it happened to be in the same game

jonny running away with the faceoff race at 65.3%. (edit: updated number is 65.6%) next on the list is chandler stephenson way back at 61.9%. (edit: updated number is 61.5%) worth noting his best year prior to this year was 59.9% back in 12/13. pretty amazing to be eclipsing those numbers by so much 10 years later.

looking a bit deeper into jonny's year at the dot. currently at 65.6% which is a whopping 4.1% ahead of the next guy. putting jonny's number this year into perspective, here are the top faceoff numbers the last 8 seasons.
21/22 bergeron 61.9% 20/21 bergeron 62.3 19/20 couturier 59.6 18/19 spezza 58.2 17/18 vermette and o'reilly 60.0 16/17 vermette 62.3 15/16 jonny 58.6 14/15 bergeron 60.2
the guy's having one helluva' year at the dot.

i may have under-estimated the ineptness of the jackets. They are a serious threat to the Hawks occupying the cellar. Better get used to the idea of the Hawks not getting Bedard, which, to me, is not that a big of a deal as I don't think that someone his size can be that dominant in the NHL. Look at Gretzky, McDavid, Crosby, Lemieux et al who were all pretty big players. Hard for me to see a smaller guy like Bedard being that dominant in the NHL. So, if the Hawks don't get him, hey, no big deal. Besides, they need a lot more than just one guy.

Good for the players, and the fans to get a win, at least every now and then I think you have expressed a good attitude about this situation. I guess whatever will be, will be when it comes to where they finally finish and who they get in the draft. It all seems so far away that there is little sense in giving much thought to it. Besides, they need so much to be competitive, it is really unlikely that they will get all they need in the next several years. They might turn into a team like Edmonton, at best. Pretty good, but not really good enough.

I've never heard anyone say Gretzky was pretty big, 6' 185lbs is average and Bedard was 185lbs at 16yrs old, if you watched him play you wouldn't say he plays small. At the World Juniors in the summer he took some big hits but he also gave it back and then some. The kid is really strong. But I'd also be happy if they got the #2 pick and took Fantilli, Nazars teammate.

Better get used to the idea of the Hawks not getting Bedard... i was used to it before the season started. even with a dead last finish, the odds of someone else getting bedard over us are high, so i'm not going to fret about it too much. just keeping your fingers crossed when the ping pong balls do their thing is all a person can do.

Good for the players, and the fans to get a win, at least every now and then Yeah, it felt good. BUT, we can't afford to be beating any of the teams that are challenging us for the cellar. Anaheim, Columbus, and Phoenix are all 4 point games. We need another 10 game losing streak or two to get comfortable.

On the other hand, in the little film I have seen of Bedard, he impresses as a shorter player. But, I didn't measure him out either.
