Good for the players, and the fans to get a win, at least every now and then Yeah, it felt good. BUT, we can't afford to be beating any of the teams that are challenging us for the cellar. Anaheim, Columbus, and Phoenix are all 4 point games. We need another 10 game losing streak or two to get comfortable. not concerned.

I've never heard anyone say Gretzky was pretty big, 6' 185lbs is average and Bedard was 185lbs at 16yrs old, if you watched him play you wouldn't say he plays small. At the World Juniors in the summer he took some big hits but he also gave it back and then some. The kid is really strong. But I'd also be happy if they got the #2 pick and took Fantilli, Nazars teammate. Gretzky always impressed me as a taller than average player, but I never took a ruler to him. On the other hand, in the little film I have seen of Bedard, he impresses as a shorter player. But, I didn't measure him out either. Denis Savard....5'10" Stan Makita......5'9" Steve Larmer.....5'10" Gretsky............6'0"

Good for the players, and the fans to get a win, at least every now and then I think you have expressed a good attitude about this situation. I guess whatever will be, will be when it comes to where they finally finish and who they get in the draft. It all seems so far away that there is little sense in giving much thought to it. Besides, they need so much to be competitive, it is really unlikely that they will get all they need in the next several years. They might turn into a team like Edmonton, at best. Pretty good, but not really good enough. This is where the 'wheat separates from the chaff' IMO jack. I think we can and should expect the team to improve quite a bit over the next 2-4 years with the assets they've collected and to be fair,a perennial PO team is a reasonable expectation. What happens after that and how deep they go year after year depends on SO many things. Some good fortune is always needed as far as draft position and player health, organiztional strength as far as player development and coaching and FO performance as far as trades and FA signings will be paramount to success. I still feel a veteran Pres of hockey opps might be required to accomplish all of this but who know.

A home win was badly needed,it woulda been great if it wasn't a lottery opponent but badly needed none the less. As I said in another post,17K+ braved the brutal cold two days before X-mas to see a team on an 8 game slide that ain't won at home in almost two months......BADLY NEEDED! Our two future FoH'rs sent em home happy!
