I still don't get how Commesso wasn't a star, even in the highlights they showed him making a huge save near the end of the 3rd. But I'm sure he doesn't care, he got the win, which was a goalie win. Even Del Mastro should've been a star over Thompson, who's goal wasn't even nice, just threw it on net through a screen. It's great seeing Crevier and Del Mastro as the top D pair, 6'8" righty and 6'4" left, big boys and they were captains in the CHL.

Some big boys on D, the top pair is a combined 13' tall. Second pair has Allan at 6'2" with Parrott, only 5'10", but he's 216lbs. And the third pair has Maniscalco at 6'3" 200+lbs with 6'4" Roos. Another thing I like about the top4 is that they're young, they're 20 to 22, and all wore letters in the CHL, 3 were captains and Perrott wore an A. Plus Maniscalco wore an A last season in the ECHL. Also, each pair has a lefty and righty.

The first two goalies taken in the 2020 draft faced off in Rockford, with the second one taken topping the first one taken at, #11. It was great to see Commesso have a very good game. It is odd he wasn't one of the stars after stopping 32 of 33 shots; what else could he have done, other than get a shutout? Commesso off to a nice start in his first pro year, 2.24 avg. and a .917sva%. I don’t think for a moment Askarov won’t be a good one also and eventually they’ll square off in the same division in the NHL, but I’m not sure what he was complaining about on the OT goal.

It wasn't offside, high sticked, and no goalie Interference. Guess he's just a whiner, perfect for Nashville.

All 3 goals against were lucky bounces. Didn't show the empty netter, but it probably was as well. Dachs now a point a game with 5g-7a in 12gms. Nice to see the big dmen get a point, EDM a goal and Crevier with an assist.

Dach and Del Mastro are 4th and 5th in points for Rockford. We only see goal highlights in these game videos so we don't see the rest of their game, but it seems like both have adapted fairly well to the AHL from juniors. Which is encouraging. Rolston won't ever be high on the team in points but it's encouraging to see him with 5 goals so far. And scoring goals is what he does; he has only 1 assist so far.
I'd like to see Luypen start getting on the scoresheet.
edit: I should add that the three players ahead of Dach and EDM in points are Gust, Bjork, and Seney; all older AHL vets.

Mike Hardman isn’t having a bad bounce back season. I know he’s not the future but I wouldn’t mind him getting some fourth line minutes up here. You know he’s going to hit and be in the paint.

They're missing Anderson and Guttman, plus big Crevier. Kaiser had 3 shots but also took 2 penalties and was -1. Teply isn't playing like a guy wanting a spot in Chicago, or another contract with Rockford. He was the team worst -3.

Yeah its crazy Teply has been there 3 years and looks like the same player when he first got here.

There are two IceHog highlights. One is Rolston's goal that starts about 2:13. Nice passes by Allan and Hardman.
The other is a highlight reel save by Commesso. The whole sequence starts about 1:36. The replay is a good view.

Hogs were 9-5, they'll be 9-9 after tonight. They're down 5-0 after 2. They really miss Anderson and Guttman.
Commesso let in 4 then he was pulled.
With Hall and AA injured, plus Perry leaving, it really depleted Rockford.

With Hall and AA injured, plus Perry leaving, it really depleted Rockford. Ended up 7-0, solid butt kicking. Stauber didn’t fare much better than Commesso. I guess if there’s any silver lining it looked like the two Josh’s pairing on defence took most of the brunt. Allan ended up even and EDM and Kaiser only -1, so I guess that’s something. …plus, besides Guttman and Anderson, Bjork is hurt and I didn’t see Gust in the lineup. That’s pretty much their first two lines. They are as thin as Chicago. Also shows how few forwards they’ve drafted and how many even made it this far. Going back to the Schmaltz draft I think maybe they’ve had five picks at forward play NHL games and three of those were traded away. Only Kurashev and Reichel might be Blackhawk picks that made the team. Not counting this year of course.

To give an idea of the impact of losing Anderson; even after being gone for a couple of weeks he's still the team leader in goals, with 7, and total points, with 16. It's interesting that with Anderson gone for a while, Ryder Rolston is now tied for the team lead in goals with 6. He's tied with two AHL vets, Gust and Seney. Dach is only one goal behind the three.

About the only good things out of the loss is Del Mastro getting his 10th assist of the season. He's now only one assist behind the team leaders in assists, Gust and Bjork. And Commesso's .913 SP.
One stat that overall probably isn't a good one was nearly half the shots taken by Rockford, 13 out of 28 total, came from only two players; Gust and Seney. I may be wrong but I thought Gust and Seney played on the same line.
