The Hogs will be a fun team to follow with the many young kids that'll be added, like Commesso, Allan, Del Mastro, Dach, Stjernborg, Rolston, and Luypen. Plus there's returning vets like Seney, Philp, and Gust that'll help the young forwards.
With the forward lines crowded in Chicago guys like Anderson, Entwhistle, and Reese Johnson could end up in Rockford or be the 13th forward, so probably 2 will be in Rockford.
They'll have some growing pains but this should be a tough team to play against.

speaking of RJ and wistle, they're currently the 4th and 5th longest tenured blackhawks. i was a bit surprised although i shouldn't have been i guess.
wistle is 4th with 126 games played and RJ is 5th (tied with raddysh) at 99 games.
murph (373 games), shevy (191 games) and seth jones (150 games) are the top 3.

I can agree there will be growing pains with several young rookies coming in. And since they won't have Reichel, and I'm assuming they won't have Guttman, it's good they brought Seney, Philp and Gust back to help with the offense.

Guttmam is waivers exempt, so I won't be shocked if he starts in the Rock. Dach still feels like a power winger to me. I hope that is what they try to mold him into.

Hogs signed Marcel² to a 1yr contract. Guess he won't be playing with Savoie next season.

So, MM will get to throw his considerable weight around the AHL Central Division next season. With a name like Marcel Marcel, along with his size, I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a fan favorite in Rockford this season.

He said at the World Juniors, and the playoffs with Gatineau, he was 250lbs. And he was strictly a physical defensive player overseas but he liked being a playmaker as well in the QMJHL. Plus they played him at center.

I hate to see Philp miss a big chunk of the season; he was a key part of Rockford's offense. But maybe the silver lining will be more opportunity and ice time for one of the young prospects.

At first glance at least, there's nothing here that blows my hair back. Just a 1 year deal. Kindopp, 24, spent the last three seasons in the Anaheim Ducks' organization and posted nine points (6G, 3A) in 65 games for the AHL's San Diego Gulls in 2022-23. The 6-foot-1, 191-pound winger produced 29 points (12G, 17A) in 67 games with San Diego during the 2021-22 season while also earning himself a call-up to play one NHL game with Anaheim. During his rookie season in 2020-21, Kindopp tabbed 20 points (10G, 10A) in 39 AHL contests with the Gulls and four points (2G, 2A) in 14 games with the ECHL's Tulsa Oilers. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryce_Kindopp

I'm a bit confused why Weeks played in net instead of Commesso. After last night's lone preseason game, they are now off for 8 days until the season opener on the 13th, with the next game on the 14th. With Commesso coming out of college, I would have thought the coaches would want him to start getting some playing time against AHL players. With 8 days until a back to back to open the season, why couldn't Commesso have played in the preseason game last night, and then he and Stauber could split the next two in San Jose on the 13th/14th. If Drew plays on the 14th, two games in ten days shouldn't be a problem. Practice is good but actual games against other players are better. Sorensen must know something I don't. Even though Rockford doesn't bother with highlight videos in the preseason, I knew there had to be highlights somewhere. A Rockford TV station had highlights of last nights game, such as they were. For those in need of a Rockford highlight fix, there's a link below. Due to the highlights being from a TV station's nightly sports telecast, they're limited to only a few early goals so Teply putting in a rebound right at the net of Seney's shot was the only IceHog highlight. However all we get is half a highlight; the camera didn't pick up Teply's goal. We just get to see the puck in the net. Enjoy watching Seney shoot the puck since that's all we get. When you open the link, there will be a video to the right side of where it says "IceHogs drop preseason game to the Iowa Wild." www.mystateline.com/sports/icehogs/icehogs-drop-preseason-game-to-the-iowa-wild/

I assume Roos and Crevier were the top pair D with a -4 & -3 respectively.

I assume Roos and Crevier were the top pair D with a -4 & -3 respectively. Rough night for those two it seems. Dal Mastro wasn’t in the lineup. Allan came out even up so that seems good. The rest of the d corps seems to be ECHL quality (Maniscalco, King) or an aging minor pro vet like Healey, who seems to add some toughness going by his PIM’s. With four vets still in the Chicago camp and likely to eat up minutes, three of the four youngsters seem to have a spot reserved for them. Does one of these go to Rockford? Kaiser had a rough game last outing, does he go down to get big minutes and get to be the PP quarterback?

nice start for the hogs. special teams were the difference by the looks of it.
commesso with his first win as a pro. stopped a penalty shot and recorded an assist. why not?
found it odd san jose pulled their goalie down 6-1. i guess it was for practice purposes.

That was fun to watch. Nice to see Teply and Hardman score, hopefully they can be more consistent this season. It's a make or break season for them. Seney and Gust starting were they left off last season, Anderson and Bjork showing great chemistry, same with Luypen and Rolston. No chance for Commesso on both goals, perfect deflection on the second. Nice apple in his first pro game and win.
