Wanted to share something Rocky said during the 2015 parade and rally that was truly hilarious. As you may remember, the day the Hawks won the Cup was a pretty violent weather day. As I approached the UC prior to the game, Tornado alerts and sirens started blaring. And because of the weather they had a hard time getting the Cup to the UC, finally arriving well after the game was over.
So, a few days later at the the parade and rally, as Rocky went up to the mic to speak, among everything he said was "“Did anyone notice we had a little bit of rain on Monday night?” then quipped: “I didn’t see any Lightning.”

I believe the sexual assault, the cover up and his outburst at the town meeting weighed heavily on Rocky's shoulders and contributed to his health problems and untimely death. I truly believe (but could be wrong) that Rocky knew about the sexual assault and thus the heavy weight on his shoulders and guilty conscience led to his outburst. This heavy weight will be passed on to Danny if he takes ownership of the Hawks. Danny has big big decisions to make. Does he take ownership or does he sell the team. Is a totally clean slate (selling the team) the way to go? I think so. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Wirtz family. if i had to guess yes or no i'd say yes...rocky had to know. having said that, i listened to zawaski's podcast today and i heard them say that john mcdonough told rocky that he'd only tell him 5% of what was going on (basically not bothering with the small stuff). that may be true but i'd have to think the beach incident would've made the 5%. anyways, others here or outside these boards might disagree, but to me it's a done deal. kyle beach got his restitution and i think all involved are gone from the team. and i don't mean to sound harsh but rocky's untimely passing puts even more distance between the beach incident and the organization. do they sell the team? i can't see it unless the whole thing weighs so heavy on danny that he feels compelled to sell. No, I think they don't sell the team. Not gonna risk that captive beer market. |

Interesting article discussing Danny, as well as Peter Wirtz, who if I remember correctly was Bill's choice to take over but he wasn't interested, leading to Rocky becoming the owner. Danny is officially the owner. i would think he'd have to give the CEO title to someone else but i'm totally guessing, i have no clue how it works to be honest. |

Yeah, seems like Rocky did a lot of good things for Hawk fans. I guess he can be criticized for his "involvement" in the Beach affair. I honestly never really understood how Beach became such a victim. But, I guess I never managed to have someone put a gun to my head (figuratively speaking) and command me to perform certain sex acts. Then again, maybe I never really understood what happened in the Beach affair. I couldn't figure out whether Aldrich sexually assaulted him and Beach said no way and then complained to management. Or whether Beach, for some reason, participated in some sexual activity with Aldrich and then reported it as an involuntary participation. The news reports were never explicit enough for me to truly understand what happened. Maybe the info was there, but I didn't dig deep enough to get at it. Maybe Rocky didn't either.
