Congratulations to Jeremy Roenick, heading to the HOF. Next former Hawk better be Gramps. JR was my favourite growing up. He had it all, personality, swagger, skill and toughness. I feel he deserves this. He never ever shoulda left the hawks. I know it wasn’t his choice. It was tough to still be a Hawks fan after he left. Zhamnov was ok. But not anything near JR. Those days are dead and gone. Congrats to JR!!!

Congrats to J.R. All honesty, I thought his candid speaking style was too much for the NHL, didn’t think this might happen.

I was arguing Roenick should be and you were saying he shouldn't without a Cup. Glad you softened on that stance, unless I'm wrong and it was a different poster, haha. JR is the reason I became I hockey fan. I was a kid and that dude was by and far my favorite player. I remember being a kid playing Genesis and getting pissed anytime the computer checked Roenick, and I'd have to play as him and always get revenge by checking that particular computer player. Roenick is probably the reason I love power forwards to this day, and a gritty style of hockey. He could do it all, very well deserved. It was ridiculous how he got cancelled over something so stupid. Really glad he's in. Keith Tkachuk has to be next, right? I wonder why the Hall suddenly decided to induct him now?

If Shae Weber gets in, why not Seabrook? Weber was good, but is he any better than Seabs? Lets hope Seabs sneaks in too!!!

I’m not sure if that was me or not? But I’ve even advocated for Lindros as he was the best player in the NHL for a solid 6-7 years. Not sure if that was me. JR was the best to me!!!

Congratulations to Jeremy Roenick, heading to the HOF. Next former Hawk better be Gramps. Here here. JR was was my favorite growing up nothing better than then watching him start to drift and you knew he was eyeing up someone and then boom. Just so fun to watch really thought of turning my back on the hawks when he was traded. Also back in those days you could also catch JR out and about that was also fun he had rock star status here.

In my lifetime, this organization has made some truly terrible decisions.
Trading Roenick because of an unsigned contract was among the worst.
Smart teams find ways to keep their best players. For most of the 1990s, he was among the best in the game.

What sweater will he be sporting? 524 games and 267 goals with chicago are both tops among all the teams he played with. the games with chicago represent 38% of the regular season total and his goals represent 52% of the total. clearly his best years were with chicago, not that anybody needed these numbers to know that. if he's wearing a sweater it'll be chicago's. www.hockey-reference.com/players/r/roenije01.html

His OT winner in game 7 versus Wings in 2013 and the leadership he showed with Toews, Hawks likely do not win a cup in 2013 without Seabs.

Good for JR. I absolutely love that guy. I don’t care what anyone says. I was listening to that podcast when he said that stuff. It was bad at all and it was a joke about being on vacation with his wife and her best friend. And she was a hockey reporter. The whole world shamed him for his freedom of speech. All he said was that he thought the people there were probably thinking “how’d this ugly guy get two beautiful women”? It wasn’t even that bad. And the loser people in this world buried him for absolutely nothing. Actually, it was less than nothing.
If that actually bothers anyone. Just stay away from the world. JR is a good man. This is a great thing for hockey. I couldn’t be happier for him, after what the “View” put him through!!!

This is a great thing for hockey. I couldn’t be happier for him, after what the “View” put him through!!! Agreed. I'll say this though, and I'm not saying it's any more right, but I think it was an accumulation of things he said. I don't even remember that particularly, I remember the bull shit uproar over what he said about Sharp and Kathryn Tappen. But yes, I never thought anything he said was bad. I think he was a birther though -- like I said, I didn't agree with that stuff -- and maybe that's what the higher-ups were pissed off about, because that did bring a lot of negative attention. Still, even though I disagree with him politically, I've always been a fan of his and still am. Nothing he said ever warranted cancellation. JR is a legend. It's a shame he never won the Cup but he deserves this, and he should be back in the game in some capacity. If you haven't seen the sandbagger with him and Selanne on Spittin Chiclets, I highly recommend that. I don't even golf and I've never watched a sandbagger before, but even I thought that one was awesome. Just seems like such an awesome and friendly dude. Selanne too.

On a side note. I still don’t see how the F Poile got in? Campbell? Or even Weber at this point? Not taking anything away from JR. But this was a weak class. Datsyuk….. 1000 percent. JR….. 1000 percent.
The others make it feel like a shitty class for the Hall. Weber was a solid player. But just not even close to as good as Seabrook. And we have to remember it’s not just NHL, it’s their overall body of work.
Poille was the most mediocre GM of all time. Had one Cup appearance. Missed the playoffs half the time. Rarely ever took chances and it shows. I fully disagree with his ascension to the hockey greats!!!

And we have to remember it’s not just NHL, it’s their overall body of work. i'm actually glad weber got in. it makes me think seabs has a better chance. seabs regular season 1114 games, 103g, 361a, 464 points, 21:56 avg. toi, 19 gwgs. weber regular season 1038 games, 224g, 365a, 589 points, 24:03 avg. toi, 35 gwgs. seabs playoffs 123 games, 20g, 39a, 59 points, 24:52 avg. toi, 3 gwgs. weber playoffs 97 games, 18g, 24a, 42 points, 25:20 avg. toi, 3 gwgs. seabs is 104th all time in goals scored by a defenseman in the regular season and 187th all time at .09 goals/game. (minimum 500 games played) weber 16th all time in goals scored by a defenseman in the regular season and 11th all time at .22 goals/game. if there's anything that sets weber apart from seabs it's obviously weber's regular season goal scoring. personally, i wasn't sure seabs had the numbers to make the hhof, now i feel a bit better about his chances...especially with seabs having his name on the cup 3 times to weber's none. and to make it clear so i'm not thought of as a weber fanboy, i'd take seabs over him every day of the week and twice on sundays. www.nhl.com/player/brent-seabrook-8470607www.nhl.com/utah/player/shea-weber-8470642
