There's no doubt he was going to get in but some weren't sure if he'd be in on his first ballot, well it's official and he's in the HoF.
Congrats Hossa and we can't wait to see you working with the Hawks again and have your 81 in the rafters.

saw somewhere on twitter where someone said "if you were going to design a hockey robot you'd end up with marian hossa" or something along those lines.
i thought that statement was pretty much spot on.
edit: it was jay zawaski.

Congrats to BIG HOSS! Well deserved! The only Hawks sweater I have that doesn't have my name and number on it is one that I actually won in a raffle as a member of the Blackhawks Standby Club in 2010. Just after the Hawks won their first Stanley Cup in 49 years, the fan club held a meeting at the UC and they gave out raffle tickets, and I won an authentic autographed Marian Hossa Sweater. The only 2 times the sweater has been worn was that day, when they surprised us at the end of the meeting by having the Stanley Cup in the house and giving us all the opportunity to take our photo with it. That was amazing, after 49 years standing next to such an iconic trophy! And I wore it only 1 more time, the game after scum bag Torres ended Hossa's season with a cheap shot in the playoffs in 2011. I wore the sweater the next home game to honor and support Hossa. One day I hope to have the sweater put into a trophy case and be able to hang on the wall in my sports room.

Very proud of our boy Big Hoss. Was hoping he'd get in on the very first moment he could. Is an honour for him. Was not on the list of favorites to get into the HOF this year since he's still an "active" player and did not won any individual trophy during his career.
Very very proud.

Hoss in the HOF is truly a no-brainer!
What a tremendous player and person.
His loss, despite his age, really was the straw that
broke the back of the Chicago Blackhawks. There was
no replacing him.

My favorite DW quote was a about his Hawk team to a reporter during Mike Keenan: "No team works harder and no team has less fun." He was essentially fired shortly thereafter. Keenan was livid! |

By the way, when we still had the boards as part of the NHL/Blackhawks boards, I often thought it would have been fun to create a Hawk Posters Hall of Fame. Each person would have to have had a certain number of posts, likes and then a few nominations for such. Then, folks could have given their reasons for why so-and-so belongs along with a favorite memory or two. |
