I just sent the following email to Danny Wirtz:
I am writing to you after hearing the disgusting news today that you have extended the contract of the idiot that destroyed the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks. Dale Tallon and Mike Smith built the core that won those championships, and over the course of years Bowman has slowly destroyed this team. And yet somehow everyone else but him is fired. He's the one that made the ridiculous trades where he got the short end on almost every single trade. And the supposed cap guru has kept the Hawks in cap hell during his entire time in his position. He brought in crap the last 2 seasons with the exception of Kubalik, wasting tons of cap space on players near retirement who couldn't compete at the NHL level anymore. The team should have missed the playoffs this year if not for the virus allowing you to get in. He is the worst GM in your history, and yet you extend him.
My family has followed the Hawks since my grandparents day. My aunt had season tickets for over 20 years in the stadium, and I had season tickets for 10 during the championship runs. But after your father came out and put both Bowman and Q on notice and only Q, a HOF coach, was fired, I stopped watching your team. I had hoped that with you taking over at least as interim president, that Bowman would soon be fired. But that was not the case. I have been following the Florida Panthers this season because the championship GM and coach are here (I moved to Florida 4 years ago). I bled Blackhawk hockey all my life, I wouldn't even go out with friends when a game was being played in the days prior to DVR's until the game was over. I'm completely baffled why the man who has single handedly destroyed the team gets to stay on while everyone else around him are gone. But it's your business, it's your team. It's no longer mine.
I WILL NEVER WATCH BLACKHAWK HOCKEY AGAIN AS LONG AS THE WIRTZ FAMILY OWN THEM.

I e-mailed him too Phil............ordered a couple cases of bourbon since it's his specialty and since I'll need em!
"Reimagine the potential of hockey" WTF does that even mean? Is that some new age nonsense or the musings of someone exerting his birthright! "The presidency search remains in relative infancy" NO SHIT and that's where it'll stay or he isn't restructuring the FO and extending his failed GM. Any incoming president would expect to make those decisions.......we're stuck with the 'Lucky sperm club" We'd be better off with 'Demon sperm'LOFL! "Wirtz had previously operated on the periphery of the hockey franchise and worked more directly with the family's beverage and reality companies" I give you 'Prince Daniel' pre-ordained by birthright and little else!
Source for quotes.....https://chicago.suntimes.com/blackhawks/2020/7/30/21348814/blackhawks-vision-future-danny-wirtz-rocky-president-search-reimagine-potential-hockey

Every man has their limitations. I’m probably nearing mine with the Hawks. The only way this works out is if Stan has connections in the NHL and we get Lafreniere. But I don’t see that happening and it seems once Toews and Kane’s careers are almost over, the Hawks will be decades long mediocrity like they used to. Bowman is the new Pully. He’ll be here till his hair grows back.
I don’t think I have it in me to care for what a Bowman does. I’m sick of arguing over it and I’m sick of seeing him run the team into the ground. Last place is just that. It’s like a house being in fire and arguing with the fire dept that the house is on fire, while they say they don’t smell smoke or see fire. Just like the house, the best to hope for is house (Team)to burn right the fuck down and hope for a fresh start!!!

Unfortunately the few dont outnumber the majority, the Hawks are constant sellouts and still a major sell around the league. Wirtz and company will not fire Stan until the house burns down as you referred to and collapses on top of him. I am literally disgusted about this news. On a day that should of never happened I am rather excited to watch our Hawks play today, win or lose, then I hear this bullshit. I don’t comprehend this move, at the minimum wait for this series to be over and reassess then, if they lose(most likely scenario) you plan a new direction, instead this team will be back treading in the water without any current vision for the future, but hey Dylan Sikura is there if needed.

We must remember, Stan still has this next year on his current contract. So he has 4 years left now. I hope the complacent are happy! Cuz I see more and more talk around here that’s not hockey than there is of actual hockey. And that’s due to most people losing interest. When a person talks about Stan’s moves, it’s not bashing him. It’s saying his moves were a failure. And if they are/were, I don’t see that as a bash. I always try to keep in mind this is a hockey board. Not a message board for bored men. So when the only thing to talk about is this mans failures and 2-3 decent moves. Well, that’s what you talk about on a hockey message board designed around the Chicago Blackhawks. I love the opinions of others, but don’t let the facts get in the way! Anyways. If people wanna cheer or jeer, it’s their right. I will admit I’m finding it tough to cheer for Stan Bowman. I’ve worked places where someone got a job unethically, and they did an awful job, yet they remained there and all the good people left. The place went under eventually. Even though they fired the person after everyone left, the damage was done. I just felt bad for the few loyal soldiers that stayed with it. I’ve also learned no matter how hard you cheer or care, what’s gonna happen is what will happen. I’m not looking for a miracle, I don’t see them winning this, but anything can happen I guess!!!

Well I've got some hope that this hasn't actually happened. Second City Hockey is the only source I can find regarding this signing. They are also the same source that said Bowman signed an extension in June of last year and that never happened. Has anyone else found a link beyond Second City Hockey to confirm this has actually happened?

I can't find another source either but they do quote 'Prince Daniel the exalted' though. Punk oughta still be pushin' booze! Nothing on the Hawks site but maybe they don't want to spook the STH's......LOL!

I worked at a few auto dealerships that saw Jr take over from the old man who built the joint.....hence the 'lucky sperm club' label. Jr goes to seminars that teach the 'maximize gross on every customer' technique and relationships with customers and employees that took decades to form are kicked to the curb overnight..........you can shear a sheep many times, you'll butcher it only once! Let's see how this plays out with the UC faithful,it was only 13yrs ago a guy could buy a cheep 300lv ticket and sit anywhere he pleased,no McD to keep a last placed team's building full now is there?

maybe i'm missing the obvious, but did stan sign this extension when mcd was still the president? Something seems weird. Remember last summer the rumours were a flying about Stan getting an extension? I’m thinking McD was probably against it. So he’s gone. It’s probably the same extension from last summer!!!

Again, this is coming from second city. Last time Bowman signed a contract it was on the NHL website. Until it shows up there, I'm holding out hope that once again, second city is putting out erroneous information and no contract has been signed.

Everything about this is suspect. Who would wait till the day before the gimme playoff round started to give an extension? The fact that the Hawks have waited this long tells a bit of a story. No GM or coach goes into their last season without a contract. I’m with Phil here. Hawks are media whores and love the attention. Until the Hawks announce this, I will remain in the unbelievers. I would have to think of the Hawks win a round or two, he’d get the extension. If they lose, he probably gets fired soon after. I don’t wish getting fired on anyone. I really don’t. But he’ll be ok financially and the Hawks need a new direction. Maybe they kept Stan around so they didn’t end up like the Coyotes? Good call Phil! You just made my long weekend great!!!

to those hopomg that this isn't true:
as we all know, there have been rumors for a year now that SB was given an extension, which the brass surely knows is not going to be popular with a good portion of the fan base. what better time to leak it than right before the return of the team to the "playoffs"? what better time than right after his big "steal" (which he gave a 5th rounder for a guy that was drafted in the 7th and was not going to sign with the team that drafted him) was nominated for the Calder?
seems like the 'hawks m.o. to me. I have little doubt the story is true.

Did you guys get any reply to your emails? I did not, but didn't expect to. When I was a season ticket holder I sent emails to Rocky and McDonough and never got a direct response from them. They relayed the email to my season ticket rep who contacted me. They don't care about the season ticket holders enough to talk directly to their concerns.

Looking at the Directv channel guide, it's showing Chicago Blackhawks Pregame (probably should say postgame) Live at 5:30 EST. Usually even on nationally televised games they have a pre and post game on NBCSN Chicago.

I’ve been looking around the web, even the dark web, and there’s not on thing besides that second city article. I even signed up for the Athletic, you can cancel right away and get 30 days free. I didn’t see anything on there. So I’m calling bullshit. I also called a buddy to see if he heard anything. He works in the NHL. He said he hasn’t heard a thing about him getting anything. But again, ya never know. We heard this for a bit last summer too. I think it’s the Bowman camp trying to drum up some support for the fella.... again!!!

And they cannot afford to be GMless during this tourney or the draft. We don’t know if those were Stan’s guys that were promoted either. So we’ll see. I’m not sold that Stan’s staying!!!

I'd have to look up the articles, but those were most definitely Stan's guys that were promoted. I agree, they probably don't wanna be without a GM until after the draft or free agency (which I assume will happen right after draft). which means they may as well give Stan his last year and see what happens. that would also give the new Prez (provided it is someone other that Danny) time to assess the situation. however, the moves made thus far tell me that Danny will end up as the Prez or at least something close to it (or he may as well be, because the team will be his eventually) and the moves made already with the chair shuffling are just to help Stan look better over the next few years.

As we continue to wait on any major news source to announce this contract, I think it's only appropriate to announce I have come up with a new word based on this subject, but can be used as long as Bowman is in Chicago.
Stanticipation: The act of waiting for anything regarding Stan Bowman to be done, not limited to trades, drafts, signings, and, most hopefully, his dismissal from his post with the Chicago Blackhawks.
