kid just can't stay healthy. I hope Colton is a little more sturdy... I didn't get a chance to see much of the Montrel game Saturday night, did Dach do anything to rise Tinordi's ire? The hit was rightfully not called a penalty IMO because it was within the rules but 'clean' or not is a matter of perspective. I like Tinordi and there's a time and place for that hit.....were the Habs targeting anybody before that? If not,I'm not sure a team with the best young player in the league wants to be bending opponent's good young players in half over the boards......but what do I know. In Dach's case, I don't remember any ire of any sort--it just looked like a check into the bench via opportunity. Not as hard as Seabrook => Cleary (which is still my lock screen, but I digress), but if anything Dach may have landed wrong. Bad luck if anything. As for Bedard, I'm hoping he's cut from the same cloth as Kane where, when he gets put ass-over-teakettle into the bench, he just pops up with a sheepish grin and carries on playing.

going back to last season, that's 8 straight games without a goal for ovechkin. caps lose in ottawa 6-1. he's also gone 2 games in a row without a shot on goal. a couple people on twitter saying it's the first time in his career that's happened but not 100% sure that it's true or not. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLDnPiXyME0

Wasn't Seabs' hit in the Winter classic and possibly in response to the hit on Kane you're referring to? I was just imagining the fan-base's thoughts on an opponent's rugged #7 D-man or 13th forward bendin' Bedard over his team's bench just because the opportunity was there. Bedard does seem durable though and Kirby Dach is definitely not,or maybe unlucky as you sid.

I can't remember who they were playing but I believe it wasn't Detroit. It was a "welcome to the NHL" kind of hit and if memory serves, put a lot of consternation among fans about Kane being small and not able to take a hit to rest since he took it well. Hell, Willie Mitchell running Toews was worse (the one where Toews admitted to the press that he had his head down on the play and it wasn't on Mitchell). I think it's not so much of a case of if, but when someone tries to take a run at Bedard--be it retaliatory if we run someone else or just plain, "welcome to the NHL, rookie". Hopefully Bedard knows he has a target on his back and plays accordingly. That being said I'm hoping Tandoori, Perry, etc. will take someone to task if another team takes liberties on Bedard. Kinda hoping Vlassic also develops a mean streak.

Bedard has been playing hockey for a long time and I’m sure he’s been a target before so I think he knows he could be hit at some point. As you guys have said I hope when it happens he bounces back up (no ACL tear) and that someone retaliates. I feel bad for Dach though and I don’t think Tinordi thought rubbing him along the boards would result in his being out for the season.

Seabs' hit on Cleary was in response to a Detroit hit from the game two days earlier if I recall but I don't remember who the participants were, apparently Cleary was one....... www.youtube.com/watch?v=SD25FP1fdocI don't think Seabs ever warmed-up to the guy......... www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-Gr1Dyc-IkTo be honest,I'm no more concerned with Bedard being injured from a hit or being targeted than I am any other rookie. He'll draw a LOT of attention for sure and he won't be seeing any special treatment from opponents, but he seems to have the same type of awareness as Kane that you mentioned and a STOUT build on that young frame. I also expect the league to look out for it's young stars and I'm sure they will but a good place to start woulda been that trip that sent Bedard awkwardly crashing into the boards. Bedard's shot was already away when the sliding defender gave the extra stick-shove into the kid's skates, assuring he wouldn't come around the other side for a possible rebound. I thought it was purposeful and as dangerous as running the kid, maybe more so since you can brace for or turn away from the brunt of a big hit but there's nothing Bedard could have done to protect himself in that instance and it should have been called!

Knights, Bruins and Avs off to quick starts with perfect records so far. Slow starts for Sabres and Oil but these can change pretty darn fast here in the early going.

Vegas went 4-0-0 with their #7,#8 and #9 D-men in the line-up until getting Pietrangelo and Martinez back,Whitecloud remains on LTIR.
The Golden Knights have started the same six D-men the last three opening nights with over 28M committed to the group.......three of em out this year, including their stud #1......no problem.....not much is for this team. We've seen undrafted 24yro Pachal,22yro 2nd round pick Korczak and 850K veteran signing Hutton all fill-in admirably. It doesn't hurt when your two young GT's are 3-0-0 1.31/.951 and 2-0-0 2.00/.935 either!

congrats to eddie "the eagle" belfour for making it into the stars' hall of fame. i guess when you offer the dallas police department "a billion dollars", people remember it. all jokes aside, he was a great blackhawk and possibly the goalie i enjoyed watching the most.

d-cat having a nice night in detroit. still well over a period to go but his (so far) 2g and 1a has him leading the league in goals (7) and points (11). wings up 4-1 on calgary.
edit: he's actually tied for the league lead in points with larkin who has 2 points tonight.

My sons team played an exhibition against Little Caesars team back in early Sept. Osgood runs it. Anyways they play at the Wings practice facility in Little Caesars arena. The wings were on before us. And we had to clear a strict security clearance to go watch them practice. They stayed on late, and the kids got to meet the remaining guys that were left. Dcat was amongst them. Funny thing is, my boy is 12 and 5’6”. He was literally pretty much the same height as Dcat. They were both on skates in the hallway. But Dcat had a smile like you wouldn’t believe. He looks soooo happy to play for the winged wheel, and I can’t help but be happy for him. That Rasmussen kid on skates is huge. Only about 8 wings stayed on late. Reimer, Dcat, Rasmussen, Valeno and I didn’t really catch who else. But I’m sure Larkin is over the moon with Dcat coming home. Dcat sure puts the extra work in. He told the kids he’s always on early and always gets off late. He makes sure to be yelled at to get off the ice!!!

He told the kids he’s always on early and always gets off late. He makes sure to be yelled at to get off the ice!!! The Wings now list D-Cat at a robust 5'8" 180lbs!LOL! For some reason, the Hawks rarely updated player's height and weight on their roster report, they always had D-Cat at his rookie/19yro 5'7" 165lbs and STILL list Reichel @170lbs too. The Yzer-plan has added several quality players the last two offseasons,Compher,Copp and Sprong all offer a team a lot and bringing-in Chariot,Holl(leads the league in +/-) and taking a shot at the 'Ghost' for 4.1M might work-out well.......it has on the PP so far. 27yro D-man Walman is also coming off a solid year after a decent trade. These additions only help young guys like Seider,Raymond,Veleno and Rasmussen slot into proper roles and it lets the team take more time with it's other good prospects. D-Cat exercised whatever RFA leverage he had to end-up on the team of his choice and I don't know what in hell Ottawa does if he accepted a long-term deal there, they'll already have five guys at 8M max term with Chychrun due to be the sixth soon. The game in Ottawa was interesting and a bit emotional Saturday for Detroit. The Sens beat the Wings back-back in embarrassing fashion back in January after the Wings worked hard to get into contention and it was D-Cat's unpopular homecoming too. He was booed every time he touched the puck, drew a LOT of physical attention and was happy to 'scrum-it-up' afterwards........Detroit won handily even though D-cat was kept off the scoresheet. D-Cat does look happy and Larkin looks relieved as much as anything and who can blame him........ www.nhl.com/redwings/video/cgy-det-larkin-scores-goal-against-flames-6339680767112DeBrincat said he's learned a lot from the great players he's played with and that sweet rink-wide dish to Larkin had some 'Kane-sauce' all over it.

Hartman with 5 points against a badly sagging Oilers team. I spend a good portion of my summers up there with the 'Squareheads' and if I'm not in a boat with one of em,I'm talking to a few at one of the many resort bars nearby or chattin' hockey with the local on the next machine when I'm making my contribution to the 'Leech Lake band of the Ojibway' at the casino 15 minutes away. Needless to say, there's a lotta hockey fans up in the northwoods and the 'buzz' this summer was Bedard(even up there)but I was surprised how popular Hartman was among Wild fans.........seems like he's second to 'Krill the thrill'. An area bar/restaurant has a signed Goligoski jersey hangin' in it........he's from down the road Grand Rapids.
