Even if Nylander kinda pans out, I’m not liking that trade. At. All. However I do with the young Finnish man all the best and it looks like they’re finally on the right path!!!

Hey buddy, your guy Sabourin for the Sens went off on a stretcher tonight after contact with Backes. It looked like Backes just braced for a hit and their heads came together but Sabourin hit the ice face first. I don't know if Backes was hurt too or just upset but he didn't return after it either.
All the best to Sabourin!

And looks like Backes was distraught about the hit, not injured.

Everybody beats the Wings these days but it's still a nice 4-0 return home for Q and the Panthers.
Rags beat the Preds 2-1 in Nashville...…..our game the other night......yikes!
It looks like the Stars have come back to life......could it happen here?

I really hate that trade still. Nylander may contribute down the road, but Joker would be playing top 4 minutes right now for us.

The trade needs at least the rest of this year and probably next as well to make a call on it IMO. I still don't like the team giving up a young,NHL ready D-man with their vets gettin so long in the tooth but I won't let that cloud my opinion of the young forward either. I dunno about the first 'Nylander sigh',I gotta think sittin the kid you gave the Joker up for three games in induced a 'sigh' or at least it should have. He's been pretty good since but "excellent on a nightly basis"? I hope it's a win/win too!

Good read, yeah it was a trade most of us didn't want to see but I'm thinking there must be something about Jokiharjus attitude that made him expendable, he does seem to get down on himself easily, that's what I'm going with lol plus he was the last pick in the 1st round, not a top 10 pick. Just trying to take the sting away from losing a solid young 2way right handed dman. Nylander is fast and showing he can play with anyone. Plus he's strong and his release is very fast with alot on it, vs the Ducks he had 7 shots and a few times I didn't think he had room to get off a shot, or at least a hard shot, but he did both. And he's playing good 2way hockey. Way to early to say who won this trade but it's not looking as bad as most of us thought.

I always had heard he was or has potential to be a leader and that was one reason the Hawks loaned him to the Fins team for the juniors tourny. That's why the trade took me by surprise.

I never heard one bad word about the kid's attitude but I've head a few about the one we got for him. He made Q's line up and helped the Finns win a WC at 19,both are very difficult to do with a bad attitude IMO.

42 year old zdeno chara being honored by the fans in montreal (yes...montreal) for playing in his 1500th game tonight.
if his TOI was 8 seconds more per game he would lead the bruins in that category this year. he's currently in second.
only 20 players have played more games, and among those only 5 defensemen. (chelios, scott stevens, larry murphy, ray borque and nik lidstrom.)

I hope it is a win win as well, and I think Nylander could very do well for us in the future. just still seems silly to trade away your most ready defensemen when our biggest need is a bunch of young defensemen. o welp, spilled milk and all...

In case he finishes this full season, he can get to all time top 15 in games played. NHL reporters were also wondering and giving praise to Montreal fans for applauding to Chara. Especially due to the rivalry and the past when Chara almost wrecked Pacioretty's back in an ugly looking hit.

But yeah, in the next game in Montreal he'll be the number one enemy again

I am very grateful for this thread. Is difficult for me to post in Hawks related threads since I am not looking at the games live, only checking the highlights in the morning.

Anybody still think the blues won’t compete for the west after going into Vancouver and beating them and then going into Edmonton and smoking them with their backup goaltender the following night?

I know Bennington made a HUGE difference for the Blues last year but make no mistake........so did Berube! They had their struggles too after the coaching change and we all know where they were at the halfway point but the team bought in and they haven’t looked back since. Berube was a tough as nails player and coach who takes shit from none of his own and he already had familiarity with his squad due to being an assistant. The Hawks has an assistant like that themselves when they fired Q.

The Blues then went 14-18-4 when he took over. Then they brought up Binnington and history was made.

There’s no doubt Bennington was huge but their defensive play is a huge factor as well,Jake Allen held the Oil to 2 in Edmonton last night!
