Knights lost their 2nd in a row which wouldn’t be news for most teams. But they host Sharks next so that should get them back on track.

I’m not sure who’s readily available? Gallant? Boudreau? Sutter? Colliton? ? I don’t think Gallants style works for the Oilers. Boudreau maybe. Sutter would be interesting. Not sure if there’s anyone else worth mentioning at this point, but I’m sure there is!!! As someone who likes to see both people and animals suffer (and Oiler fans are both), I would laugh my ass of if they got Colonton. I’m not sure who’s readily available? Gallant? Boudreau? Sutter? Q?
As others have said--not until the latest in the Aldrich scandal blows over.

Yup, TSN insider said 4 eastern teams (NYR, BUF, FLO and DET) and a 5th team (probably TOR). Dallas have been in on Kane since last TDL but cant make the salary fit the cap

in typical oilers fashion they are outshooting the sharks after 1 period 14-6 and trailing 1-0.

All the goals against Skinner are with a man wide open. They have more than goalie issues. Look at the lazy checking on this one, yeah, goaltending.

I’ll be the one to say it. This is a classic case of the Oilers getting their coach fired. They quit on him. There’s just no way that McDavid and Draisaitl are all of the sudden AHL players.
On that clip there. Nurse mailed in his back check. And he shouldn’t even be back checking. He should be on D. So I think the team gave up, and the goalies are getting the brunt of the situation. Campbell is a well liked guy in the room. But they embarrassed him and sent a message to the players. And the players responded with this effort. So long Woody!!!

Nobody wants and roots for a coach to be fired and while I am not a big fan of the Oliers, I do feel bad for their coach. Not sure how much longer Woodcroft can last there. I hope Davidson is paying attention here when building the team around Bedard, Oilers have 2 of the best 5 offensive players, Toronto has 4 top offensive players with Matthews leading the way and do not see either sniffing a cup anytime soon.

Could have made some big $ if we had bet that after 13 games, Canucks would be 10-2-1 and Oilers would be 2-10-1.

So long Woody!!! agree 100%. dollar says the oil make the playoffs if they bring in a new coach before turkey day. edit: also, completely reminds me of the Colliton situation around these parts. the team was clearly like "f this s" that final season, ESPECIALLY once Bowman was gone and they knew they could get JC out without having to deal with his keeper... Oil look the same. they clearly do not believe in whatever their coach is selling there with his new system...

I hope Holland doesn’t get pissed and get a coach that the guys will hate. I say this cuz their duo is due a new contract soon. And they’ll leave. Which would be destructive for that franchise. Canadian teams are in short supply and that could severely cripple that club.
I hope they get someone good and make it work. I don’t think Woody did much on the defensive side of the puck. Goalies aren’t the problem. You could put a young Patty Roy and Hasek in net at the same time, and they’d get lit up.
Nurse has to learn to play defense. So does Bouchard. They’re all looking to score a goal, instead of helping out their tendys. Sutter may be destructive. But he does get results!!!

i'm not surprised his brother never scored a shortie but i thought the old man might've scored one at least.
anyways, i'm not his biggest fan but a 14 game (and counting) point streak to start the season is quite an accomplishment, and a 3 point night so far tonight has him at 9 goals and 12 assists with a period to go in his game.
the breadman is currently riding a 13 game point streak to start this season as well.
they both got a ways to go to beat gretzky's record of 51 games set in the 83/84 season.
denis savard owns the hawks' record, starting the 87/88 season with a 16 game point streak.

that's travelling, no?
speaking of obscure basketball references in hockey...on "32 thoughts: the podcast" (elliotte friedman's/jeff marek's podcast) they have a section at the end where they answer some questions from viewer mail or voice mail. a few episodes back a guy asked if the nhl would ever consider a "shot clock" type of rule on 3 on 3 o/t where after 30 seconds or whatever after you gain possession you have to give the puck back if you don't score, and the situation repeats itself going the other way. friedman said at one time the league considered trying it but that's as far as it got.
i do think that while the 3 on 3 is still great to watch, it's not near as good as it used to be. it's evolved into too much cycling the puck out of the "o" zone back to the neutral zone (if not further). in other words, it's become too strategic and not enough end to end chaos.
there'd be a few rules to hammer out but i wish they'd give it a go. imho, the 3 on 3 could become a lot more exciting again.

They also mentioned, like in basketball, a “backcourt” violation. When you cant go back after you cross the halfcourt, in hockey’s case, im guessing they either meant the redline or maybe the blueline. I dont like either proposal, but i prefer this backcourt one than the shotclock

Zadorov requesting a trade out of Calgary. That team is dumpster fire right now. IMO, it was the Kadri signing that triggered it.
Anyway, can we get Dustin Wolf from them?

the leafs, while trying to ramp up their physical game, take 2 instigator penalties in the 1st (both as a reaction to clean hard hits by vancouver) and vancouver scores on both ensuing powerplays.
max domi took the second penalty and pius suter scored his 4th goal of the season for the canucks.
anyways...the canucks off to an unreal start. their team shooting % is 16.1% which is a whopping 3.5% better than second place los angeles. to put it into perspective, the oilers led the league at 11.8% last year, while the canucks were 11.1%.
plus can demko play like this all season? his save % is .948 and on high danger chances it's .975%. that's crazy.
so...you'd expect them to cool off at some stage. hopefully on or before dec. 17th.
edit: it appears i may have jinxed demko tonight. leafs put 5 by him on just 22 shots.
and should the canucks change their name? 9 americans dressed tonight, 6 russians/euros and 5 canadians. : )

I watched a LOT of Panther's hockey his last three years there and can't figure it out for the life of me. The guy's pretty big and durable,he played a pretty rugged/physical game and he also played a responsible two-way game while improving offensively every year. He was also supposedly well liked in the room and exceptionally close with Barkov and a few others. Did he let the unexpected trade crush him or did the environment up in 'Cow Town' do it?
