They don’t have the pieces to be successful. Right now, Seider is the only one I see as looking to be really good. Raymond may only be a 40-50 point guy. Never know. They just can’t keep trying to spend their way out of it. Eventually all those 4 year deals end. I see them in 4 years time having another rebuild. It’s probably not gonna work unless they’re the 9th worst team and win the lotto or however much you’re allowed to move up!!! if you are defining successful as winning a Cup, then I agree. I think they'll get better over the next 2-3 years, to the point that they are in the playoffs and at least semi-contending in the East, but I don't see them getting to the promised land without them adding a bonafide star at some point. make no mistake, though, they are not a finished product as yet. The winged wheel up 5-1 after the first period. Kane with 2 goals and an assist in the frame. Then the winged wheel goes to work and malfunctions. They end up in a gawd dam shootout where Kane gets the winner. It’s just sad to see a team give up that much night in and out. Sure they got the win. But that’s gotta feel like a loss to them. It happens way too much. Especially vs some of the worst teams. It’s not like Colorado or Edmonton etc are coming back, it’s SJ, Philly etc!!!

Stevie Y's not done constructing Detroit's defense yet and 35yro Reimer won't be in goal for em past this year.......I'll take the two points. A loss last night woulda been crushing but Larkin and Kane wouldn't allow it. Detroit has five D-men on their roster between 29-32 but none are signed for more than two more after this year and none make over 4.75M.......all are tradable. There's no way Fabri cracks the Wings top-six,include him in a trade to help improve the D. 20yro,6'6" 212lb,#6 over-all,Sweed D-man Simon Edvinsson is following-up a solid AHL season in Grand Rapids with a better one this year and even potted a few with the big club in 9gms last year.......he'll help. They also have four 2nd round D-men in their system between 21-23 who've been marinating nicely. Toronto allowed NINE to the Sabres the other night.......I doubt Toronto's packing it in for the year because of it. www.nhl.com/redwings/news/red-wings-recall-simon-edvinsson-from-grand-rapids

another goal for kane just 4+ minutes in against jersey. he's on a bit of a heater, i'd say.
d-cat with the primary.

kane with his 6th goal in his 11th game, and his 5th in his last 9 and a bit periods.
had a look back...of his 6 goals, d-cat had the primary on 4 and a secondary on one other.
that wrister looks like it's working fine.

Pens 7-0 over the Islanders who had been hot before Christmas. Interesting how multiple day layoffs affect teams differently.

gotta' love the cat, never mind the uni.
while we're on the topic of winged wheels...
eddie belfour made a similar save back in the day against detroit's fedorov. (similar but much nicer.)
while we're on the topic of great saves...
quick is 9-2-1 with the rags with a .916 and a 2.41...both numbers considerably better than shesterkin's. quite a story actually. quick turns 38 in about 3 weeks.
edit: one more. who tf even tries that shot? especially when you got 2 teammates in front of the goal with sticks on ice. that's some confidence right there.

Gordy Howe hat trick for El Gatto.....with an apple to spare. It's not hard to realize why Soros is so good at 5'11" when he can flash leather like that my friend. The guy was off-balance,leaning the other way and had one leg kinda caught under him and still lunged across to make that save!

poor old hagel can't buy a goal. 17 game goal-less streak is the longest of his nhl career. just 8 assists in that period. likely once he scores one, they'll come in bunches.

Can we get him back? Only around here my friend! I've posted little about former players this year with the exception of the Detroit chatter most of us have chatted about, but if we're using rare slumps as referrences.....that'll change. Tampa's been a CF for a lot of the year and we've seen a LOT of Kuch/Point/Stamkos because of it,Hagle's 30pts are actually 4th among TB forwards,9pts ahead of Paul. Those top-line minutes resulted in 23 5 on 5 goals last year but he's still on pace for a career best assist total and those #1PP unit minutes have gone to Paul instead so far too........7 PP gls last year,0 so far........SO FAR. He's seeing his biggest TOI totals since he's been there for some reason. He'd EASILY be the 2nd best player in Chicago! The over-all return for him was very good, the two players are pretty much stiffs but two 1st's were stellar. That being said, there's no guarantee either pick results in a better player than Brandon Hagle.......is there?

Hagel playing beside Bedard this year would have tacked on another 10 points to the kids numbers. Hagel was by far the best player in the trade. Have to admit, a sixth rounder picked up from the discard heap was parlayed into a pretty good haul. But you’re right, maybe Moore becomes a 30 goal scorer like Hagel and we’ll have to see what this year brings for the other.

i get the "code" and all, but to high stick a guy in the face after a draw...idk, it just seems gutless to me. and what if hartman's stick got perfetti in the eye?
here's where kaprizov was injured.

idk how the jets are doing it but they're currently 5th in the league but only 2 points behind the league leading bruins, same amount of games played. what's more amazing is that since losing kyle connor, they're still a league leading 8-1-2. team save % is 2nd in the league at .918% trailing only boston's .922%.
