wow! who could have predicted this??! honestly, i could care less. any team who can legally bend the rules to their team's advantage (especially in the playoffs) would be crazy not to. and i'm not saying that because we did the same thing. (at least i don't think i'm not). : ) Hawks did it. But Kane was actually hurt and had surgery. So I don’t think the Hawks did anything wrong. Stone has had back issues. No doubt there. But they’re becoming more and more convenient. This is why I don’t like the salary cap. It forces teams to do dirty shit. I’d rather they just make a luxury tax. If teams wanna go over the threshold. Do it, and pay for it. I also think there should be a minimum amount to spend. But that’s another topic!!!

That must have been a motivated Salt Lake City squad that beat the Oilers tonight. no McDavid helped their cause. wonder if he plays tomorrow vs the 'nucks. that is really the big game for the Oil as they could still pass the 'nucks for first in the Pacific...

Vegas clinched the final playoff spot out west last night, sooooooo no blows to root against in the playoffs this spring!
now hopefully Sidney and Co can keep winning and snag that last spot in the East....

What a game in Detroit tonight. Wings were down 4-2 heading into the 3rd. They come back, Raymond scores the tying goal. Then scores the winner in OT. Habs did play a lot of their kids in OT. Lane Hutson coughed up the puck that led to the winner.
It was definitely entertaining. 2 games in row the Wings come from behind and win. Good for them!!!

Without as much as a single roughing call in the game, let alone a fight......who woulda thunk it? Twenty year old Zach Ostaphuk, taken at #39 over-all,is yet another large-framed center in Ott's system. I knew he was rugged from seeing him in two WJC U-20's for Canada, but I didn't know he was a certified badass.......that was impressive!

I'm sure 88 will stay, they'll have a ton of motivation next year and all they really need is a goalie that is decent.

fleury's stat line this year was 17-14-5, 2.96 and .895%...numbers comparable to gustavsson's, and fleury played about 350 minutes less this year. not bad for 39.

Good luck to Ovi,Carlson and Stromer in the PO's against the President's Trophy winner,Carbury did a BANG-UP job. The team was actually sellers at the TDL,moving Kuznetsov,Mantha and Edmundson but Carbury got some kids in there and they played well. Strome was also their leading scorer, setting career highs in goals and points and their most consistant player throughout the year too.

I have no issue wishing personal success on our former players wearing the winged wheel, but I think they'll forgive me for not exactly wanting to see their new team succeed. last night was just too good as a avid redwings hater. their fans (the ones who absolutely shat on the idea of bringing in Kane AND Debrincat - literally had to argue with them about how those two were GOOD moves by Yzerman after each move was made) cheering for 88 winning them the game in a shootout only to then realize they were already boned due to an empty net goal that occurred within a minute of Perron's miracle goal with 5 seconds left to force OT was absolutely glorious. I will say that I may have been wrong about Raymond. I believe I mistook his sophomore slump last year for him maybe not being a star quality player. man did he look every bit of the part of a star the past few weeks for them. zero doubt the winged wheel will be back in the post-season next spring and for years to come after that. I'm just happy I get one more playoff without them (or the blows) having a chance to win the greatest trophy in sports...

Having possibly Seider and Edvinsson as a top pair will be scary and they also drafted Axel Sandin Pellikka last year in first round and he was just named the Borge Salming winner over in Sweden and Nate Danielson (big 6' 2" two-way 200' center), whom Bedard said several times the toughest player he played against in WHL also in the first round and picked 9th overall last year. Plus, Kasper another big center taken back 8th overall in 2022 and add in the 6" 6 goalie Cossa another first round pick I say pretty good drafting by Mr. Yzerman.

Detroit has back-to-back miraculous comebacks, and they still miss out. Love it. That icing at the end of the 3rd - which led to the tying goal -- seemed iffy to me. There were a couple icings that I felt that way. I'm still hot about the Showtime celebration by Kane. Maybe I'll cool off next season, lol. It's one thing to score there; it's another to taunt the crowd afterward, a crowd you claim to love. Serves Kane right for that act to miss the playoffs this year. Karma's a bitch.

Given ESPN’s focus on the Oilers, seems that Warren Foegele and Jason Dickinson are having a statistically similar year in points. Better appreciation of JD’s offering - doing this on a way undermanned squad. I’m not looking for 30+ goals per year for Dickinson the rest of this decade, but there’s some on-ice Sharpie in there so far (no Hawk TV to watch JD ordering breakfast for Connor yet, and no Burish) in a much different game style. Yes, I’m looking for things that led to our last run.

Tampa could be done today. If so, I’ll wonder which direction they go? Stamkos is a free agent, depending on what he’s looking for, I don’t see him making it back there. Wonder if he moves and goes elsewhere? He got over a point per game this year with 81. He’s 34 and probably wants a 3-4 year deal. And I’d imagine he would want something close to what he gets now.
He could see him just to stay there, taking 4 million per on a 3 year deal. He has a nice house there and loves living there. I hope for his sake he stays. We don’t get to see that very often!!!
