Kane in Det, Guentz in TB, Reinh in FLA - who gets the most goals next season? Most points?

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed defenceman Chris Tanev to a six-year, $27 million deal, featuring an average annual value of $4.5 million.
AAV is good, wow 6 years though, he will be 40

Whether you agree with the moves the NHL, NFL and NBA get it on the first day of free agency. It is fast paced, exciting and fun to follow. You look at baseball and it takes months to sign players and some into spring training, I believe Scott Boras is the main reason.

I hate Marchessault but I'd love to have him on my team, but not at that term.

I am sure a coincidence but both Stamkos and Marchessault left teams with no state tax and went to Tennessee another no state tax team. Stamkos and Marchessault both good on the power play. Barry Trotz now the GM instead of coach definitely more aggressive than Pollie the previous GM.

The Habs signed Stafkosky for 8 years 7.8, is that crazy for a guy who scored 20 goals? Is this the precedent the league now has to follow?

In a few years, the Hawks will get there chance at the high end picks when they establish themselves as a team competitive enough for more than just a playoff spot.

Yes because the agents will use other players salary as comparables when they negotiate for their guy. Similar like the housing market, they use other properties in area to list homes to set asking price. All I can say If Demidov is good as some believe wait what he will command when his ELC is up.

Jeff Skinner signs 1 year $3M with Oilers. He might get 40 goals playing on McDavid's line.

I don’t really care about Demidov when our Hawks have a player named Bedard, if stafkosky is getting 7.8, Connor will get 15.

I do not care either, just stating how crazy a precedent this sets for everyone including Bedard.

They were good defensively but they could only muster 11goals in 6 PO games vs the Nucks, ading two proven PO scorers will help them immensely IMO.

I now live in the Nasville area and today's 3 big signings are creating quite a buzz. I know Stamkos is 34, but he can still score and dangerous on the power play. The Stamkos signing could signal that Nashville become a destination. Outside of hockey and sports in general it already has become a destination.

They have always been good defensively, and in goal, Stamkos can still score, Jonathan And Philip can score. They certainly have an opportunity in the next few years to possibly challenge for the cup.

Makes a guy wonder how Boston,or Chicago,or Detroit,or LA or any of the NY teams,or the Candian teams ever land a big UFA or re-sign a player. The Panthers missed the PO's 16 of 17 years before their very recent resurgence with the same state income tax rate. Few states have income rates at or over 5% but states like CA and NY do have graduated rates for high income earners (God forbid)but the Rags and the Kings stay competitive...... www.nerdwallet.com/article/taxes/state-income-tax-rates#2024%20state%20income%20tax%20rates

as of 40 or so minutes ago. among others the ones that caught my eye, dennis gilbert to buffalo, dehaan to colorado, erik gustafsson to detroit, mike hardman to new jersey, taylor raddysh to the caps and reese johnson to the wild (although it says vegas here for some reason). so hardman's exit means turbo has his old #86 back. hate to see him go though, i thought he deserved another look here.

I dunno if they can match the depth (and I would hope motivation) of Dallas, but we will see.

Question for the group: Which free agent contract do you believe was the "worst" signing yesterday? My vote: Ellias Lindholm, 7 years x $7.75M, will be 30 in December
Lindholm's play the last two seasons has left a lot to be desired and does not resemble when he was a Selke finalist a couple of years ago. IMO, he needs a superstar to play with to be effective, is Pastrnak that guy? Will he regain the Selke form again playing with Pastrnak? Boston has been searching for centers since Bergeron and Krejci left and retired. Can Lindholm fill the void left by Bergeron and Krejci?
Btw, I think Dallas signing Matt Duchene for 1 year at $3M was one of the best values yesterday. Sean Monahan signed for 5 years and almost double AAV.
