I'm kinda glad they protected Stillman. I think he could be a good 5-6 Dman and he plays physical.
Edit: And he will stick up for teammates.

He's tough and a better skater but you can't teach reach and size, 6'6" and able to push guys like Maroon around is great to see. Plus one time he was mic'd up and a guy took an extra poke at Lanks after the whistle and Z threw him to the ice and said don't touch my fucking goalie, the Hawks need guys like that. But not for 5-6mill.

Why didn’t Scam talk to him before they traded him to find out what the hell they wanted? This is why Scambo is nothing but an utter failure. He doesn’t understand sports in general. Who in the right hell wants to play on half a new team every year? There’s no chemistry or comradeship between the players. This is why I think they need to keep Z. They need some continuity for once!!!

So they’re not just cheaping out. I think they’ll take him. He’ll look awesome there. I think he’s that playoff warrior every team needs. Z is arbitration eligible I believe. He has to ask super high because the arbitrator will go in the middle of the Hawks 3 million and his 6. He’ll probably get awarded a 1 year 4.5 million. He has no choice but to accept it. He will be a UFA the year after. I doubt in a flat cap he’ll get more than 5. We’ll see soon enough. If he gets plucked for nothing. I’d hope that the upper brass takes note and looks for someone who understands sports!!!

I kinda hope he negotiates with Seattle so maybe he will realize he isn't getting what he thinks he should. not to mention his attitude should be a team-wide attitude, we shouldn't need guys to do that specific thing. everyone should be standing up and knocking guys on their asses if they mess with our 'tender...

Are they even aware that they own a hockey team? If they are, why would they sit back and watch him demolish their team? I don't understand it.

And it’s not the only trade that has been degraded trade by trade. I’m embarrassed to see this turd work. To be paid to absolutely suck is now on ownership. I think the only reason why anything worked before is because Q told him who he needed/wanted. Now he doesn’t have the luxury of a hall of famer to help guide him and it’s no fluke that the Hawks have been specifically terrible since Qs departure!!!

I am glad you agree that the players won Q his 3 Stanley Cups. If you credit Q for the cups you must also blame him for the LA meltdown in 2014, the 2 blown leads against St Louis in 2016 and the Western Conference Champions not being prepared for the 8th seeded Preds in 2017. The Blackhawks were terrible before Q's departure and that was why he was fired.

I'm sure the bean counter is using those numbers and the fact he'll be a UFA after next season, Columbus could wait till the trade deadline or try and get a mid pick with guys like Strome and Boqvist going the other way. Dach and Debrincat should be untouchable, before I thought Dach for a top2 dman in his prime was ok, but not when they have cap space, options, and all summer.

This is why I’d stay the course and rebuild properly. Unpopular for this time, but there’s some good drafts coming up that’ll net some serious top end talent. What the Hawks are looking for just isn’t available right now. There’s no quick fix to this. Even if the Hawks had 30 million cap space, there’s just no players available at this point. Getting Jones and even Hamilton won’t even go that far. Both are righties and not enough playing time on the right side. Unless there’s a really good trade out there for a top dman, gotta draft our own. This is the exact reason why I said taking Byram is a must. This is no knock on Dach. I love the kid. But at the time Strome looked pretty good and they took another center with not much experience at top levels. Never player WJC, and only had about 1.5 years of Jrs. He should of went back and played for Canada at the WJC. Regardless, the Hawks don’t have a top dman in the system. Byram would be that guy. He’s gonna be a stud on the Avs blue line for some time. Unless Scambo pulls off a trade that’s unreal. Which he’s never done. I don’t see how this thing works he’s trying to do!!!

Should a cup-less Cooper have been fired when his best ever regular season team was swept by an eight seed that rolled over the very next series......the Preds went on to the SCF after sweeping the Hawks. Support SB all you want but be careful if you do it at the cost of a hall of famer's reputation. The players were so good,we should have seen more cups? Gotta call BS on that! The Kings went on to win the cup after that unfortunate deflection off of Leddy in '14' and did you really expect the back-back n '16'........did anyone? A LOT of talented teams won one or no cups,Q winning three sets him apart. Describe terrible. I happen to think two under is terrible. The team was .500 15 games in without a few key players when Q was fired and many still feel the Org fired the wrong guy. Why do I say this,Florida was four games over when Q arrived and two years later finds that team with the league's 4th best record and Jack Adams runner up for Q. The Caps have gone out in the first round every year since winning their only cup then dumping their GREAT coach........coaching can make all the difference to a good team and we had the right one at the right time. Has the team improved after dumping the hall of fame coach?

In my opinion, there should be no "likely" here. It is still a roll of the dice that is unnecessary given the woeful defensive roster as it stands. "Likely" still means there's a decent chance he'll be selected. That's unacceptable especially since Stan would then have made Panarin-Saad into Zadarov into a Splash of Zilch, to my mind, an unconscionable outcome. I understand that you are Stan's apologist. I respect the fact that you stand pretty much as an individual on this site in that regard. In a way, I welcome it as it keeps us on our toes. I don't have much counter-argument for example for the rest of your statements other than it was a horrifically lucky bounce off of Leddy in '14 that easily could have happened to LA as well. It also follows that the Hawks, rather than LA, would then have had the luxury of beating a mediocre Finals opponent in the Rags that year. My best counter-argument for the rest of what you said would be the devolving communication/respect between Q and Bowman in Q's final years and Bowman simply wanting to totally run the ship. In other words, Q wasn't playing with HIS 'full deck' on the ice any longer. Naturally, and again, I still hold Bowman the most responsible, by far, for the Blackhawks' demise.

He wanted his shot at the big time and he’s ruined everything in his path. Why? Because he’s not a hockey guy, and he never will be. I never played any level of baseball, just leisurely. Gig has played at a decent level. I’d bet anything he builds a better baseball team than me as I just don’t understudy day to day workings of a team. However, if I worked with Gig and listened to reason, we could be a decent team. However, if I fire him over a power struggle, I’m probably not going to have the success I did with him. Have you care to even look at the assistant’s under Scam these days? I mean it’s a collection of losers and Scam knows it. They have absolutely no one around to take his throne. It’s Pulford bullshit all over again. You can stick up to the losing and lunacy, but those 3 Cups were gonna be had without him, and more than likely more Cups if he wasn’t in charge. He sucks at hockey and it sounds like he sucks at life too. So please don’t stick up for his supporting of a pedophile, and being in charge of an org that allowed this to happen. No more excuses!!!

In any event, the value of his efforts needs to be judged by his entire body of work and it is pretty obvious that his entire body of work has led to this team being a complete mess and on the verge of being one of the worst teams in the league. To use Big T's house building analogy, it is as though Bowman constructed some very nice features on a home, but completely screwed up the calculations on the framing and the house is due to collapse at any moment. The only problem with that variation on the theme is that Bowman's house is, indeed, on the verge of collapse, but it doesn't look that good anyway.

Im an elevator mechanic and own my own company. Unfortunately I have to be pretty much perfect. If I made the same mistakes or amount of mistakes that Scambo has, I’d be out of a job and or in jail. If I make a massive mistake people get hurt bad and or die. I know hockey is different. But I think Scambo is way beyond his skill set. We have restrictions on our licenses here. If there’s a building bigger than what I’m qualified to touch, I don’t touch it or I’m on my way to jail. Scam will run this thing as far into the ground as he can, not because he’s trying to. I truly believe he thinks he’s doing something great here. But just like any job, if you’re not qualified, I doubt things work out. When we use the term “hockey guy”, we need to understand what that means. It simply means they’re qualified through massive experience playing and living the sport. I wouldn’t trust Evander Kane with my finances, and I sure as hell won’t trust Scambo with my hockey team!!!

Today is the day we find out if as Stan hoped we manage to keep both.
