Everything out my way was farm land at some point but my home and most around me have been here since the 50's or 60's so lots of time to grow trees. Still some farm land too and lots of new subdivision with few trees......looks like the big, expensive fukers were built on the face of the moon!LOL! I moved 20 mins outside of Windsor 5 years ago to the newer area of Belle River ( we have Domi, Ekblad, and Brodie as our bragging rights). And what I bought for then and what their worth now is two different worlds. Our county has had a lot of farm land chewed up by new development as this is one of it not the warmest spot in Canada. All the gawd damn Toronta folk sell their houses for 2-3 million, come down here and over pay for a house by 100k just cuz. It’s been typical to see a house 500-600k go well over asking. Like 100k over. And 5 years ago, that used to get you a mansion out this way. Now it gets you a nice newer house. I guess I’m lucky to have bought at a time when it was almost ready to blow up. But any trees left over have been cut, burned, trashed or whatever to get these new subdivisions in. We have newer trees as they require that in new subdivisions and also add in a nice “tree tax”. Kinda sucks to have not many trees in our area. We grew about 25k people in a town that had maybe 15k before. This is all in a 10 year period. 44k now in Lakeshore/Belle River. And 44k less trees. The world (especially Canada) always rips on the US for being environmentally irresponsible, I’d have to argue that Canada does a terrible job environmentally. Everywhere I’ve been in the States seems to be well treed and not too dirty (except Ohio, that is a total rectal puss of a place). I think the air pollution is mainly due to population density. Toronta, Montreal, Ottawa, London, Vancouver, Calgary etc are all facing the same problems. Sorry to anyone from Ohio, but the place looks like the place of mass murderers!!! don't apologize to or for ohio. fuck that whole state, the whole place is a shithole. that's why they all come north to vacation in the summer....

I still don't see how a team with Dunks,Seabs,Maata,de Haan and Murphy get all the kids I hear about in the lineup. maybe it's a long shot but that's a lot of experience there. the more those 5 bodies can contribute over the next year or 3, the longer all those prospects can develop on the farm.

That's why I was optimistic going into the season, that's a lot of experience with good size but the coaches didn't use them properly and Gus was getting top2 minutes 🙄 I'd keep 4 of them and play a couple kids with Gilbert as the #7.

I think the logjam has to be dealt with and the time for the kids might be now...……...it's a tough deal if ya ask me. I guess this boils down to deciding if the team's in a rebuild or do they keep pushing the win now premise unsuccessfully?

If Stan is here, it’s the same old shuffle the deck chairs and find out if a rookie can be sold as the saviour to continue the sellout streak. I promise this. I know I haven’t been too keen on the management group, and I think what I’ve said has come mostly true. So I promise this, we’re right on the edge of Toews, Keith and possibly Kane being on the edge of being mediocre to less than average. Not if, when that happens, as it happens to them all, we just don’t have that much to go with here. We’ll be a team maxed out cap wise, and not much in the youth dept. Remember, just because you have a few kids, doesn’t mean you’re on the right path with youth and skill etc. The Leaves did exactly what Stan is doing for years, and they weren’t in a cap era. This won’t go well, I promise. None of the kids we have are coming with a “franchise tag” on them. Right now, we’re all just happy if Stan drafts a kid to make the nhl. Which is a sure sign that failure is the only option. Keeping Stan around only prolongs this. I know the kids we have are young and many cling on to the hope that they’re gonna be the “next wave”. Look at the “ next wave”’around the NHL. On D, look at Quinn Hughes, look at Makar. They’re the next wave of stars that’ll lead their teams to greatness. When defenseman are getting more points than the top 3 in the draft last year, that speaks volumes. 18/19 or not, gotta show something. I don’t think Dach is a bust, but I don’t think he’s gonna project to being much more than Strome. I hope he proves me wrong, but he had a career high 73 points in Jrs. I just don’t see him being a 73 point guy in the NHL. It was a colossal mistake keeping him here this year. What did it prove? This is when failing GMs need to go. This is Stan’s prized pig. If he struggles next near, guess what happens? He’s sent either back to Jrs or the farm. Which will destroy his confidence and it’ll be a ruined or traded situation. We’re lucky Strome bounced back for a year at least. He went through hell in Arizona. So we’ll see soon enough. But if Stan trades Strome, it’s his death knell!!!

Keep Keith, Murphy, Maatta, and unless they buyout Seabs, he'll be playing next season. Pair Mitchell with Keith or Maatta depending on the situation, Beaudin with Murphy or Seabs. Righties and Lefties matched up 👍 Some people complain about Maattas north south skating but he looked solid this season and showed he's not fragile, just unlucky, cancer plus some freak injuries, which happen when you block shots and hit. But he seemed rejuvenated so why not keep a young man in his mid 20's with over 400gms and 2 Cups for 4 million. 6'2" 200+lbs are nice numbers as well.

Don't be surprised to see Murph or Maata go if SB stays, they're both easier to move and would bring some level of return SB could F up. de Haan would require a little sweetener and I don't trust SB to handle that well either. It'd be nice to have a bit of toughness in the back-end if both the Lil' kids make it IMO.

A lot of the time as fans we resent Seabs. I however believe it is only one individual who has served him up a contract that is truly to blame. He's a hard worker in the off season usually at home in Tsawwassen, B.C. He also starts training right after the end of the season so I guess he doesn't stop. As for Colliton sitting him rumors have it they never really got along. We have seen Colliton any time he has to speak of Seabs either has a look come over him. I won't call it anything other than odd but I could find anything now unfortunately but it's been present in various press conferences. Oh Bowman. There's a story behind the Seabrook signing. Most have heard or know of it. When Seabs signed he had been approached by Dallas rumor had Dallas offering 7 mil for four years. So Stan offered him up the egregious contract to keep him. Not a good move by any GM. Seabs is a GREAT player who simply finds himself in a vicarious position created by SB. That's it any of us would have jumped on such an opportunity. I always thought the 1M raise to 6.8M was a decent reward for past accomplishments since he has an overwhelming history of staying healthy but I also thought 7MX5 woulda been a great signing and if that story is true it woulda been. It also woulda gave SB cover if Seabs turned down a 7MX5 deal IMO. Seab's situation with two left is a night n day difference than having four left. www.nbcsports.com/chicago/blackhawks/blackhawks-defenseman-brent-seabrook-breaks-down-each-stanley-cup-winning-teamMost have seen this 2018 video but I'll post it anyway. Seabs is a man that continues to put forth any effort to try to be his best. Hes suffered in life just as we all have but that said he is known for hard work and diligence at all times in his career. www.nhl.com/video/training-ground-seabrook/t-277350912/c-60914103I think over the last two seasons as well that Seabrook hasn't been allowed to play like he DOES. Seabs checks sometimes still but where has his fire gone the really bone crushing hits the fights. Hell Seabs hasn't dropped the gloves since Q's departure in Oct. of 2018. So to answer a question as to why Gilbert can't stick it's the same reason Seabs went a season and a half without a fight Colliton must be hand cuffing these guys. Colliton should know that to have a winning team there must be a toughness. Colliton is a woos what other player gets to play for the world championship juniors and sits out the championship game due to injury? Colliton, most players would have to be dead to be kept out of a game like that. How embarrassing must it have been for poor JC getting his medal in his civies. This guy has to pay his dues it's unfortunate Bowman believes he should be allowed to do it in the NHL. Fire Stan fire JC and get some real hockey people back in charge.

It'd be nice to have a bit of toughness in the back-end if both the Lil' kids make it IMO. To be cap compliant, we’re gonna have to lose even more than just one of them. Do you really trust Shaw to make a full comeback? I love the guy, but his health is much more important. I don’t think as a GM, I could let him play again. He’s got a whole life ahead of himself, and I’d rather him work in the front office or scouting staff and retire. He’s just too much of a risk, so maybe they save money there? But it is starting to look like the Hawks will need to shed about 5 million to be compliant, and that doesn’t include giving raises. Ideally, I’d like to lose deHaan, Shaw, and Matta (or most of last summers major acquisitions). Something has to give, a few raises to give out and the cap probably goes down. So we more than likely need to drop about 10–2 million or have to think. Maybe Crawford stays at 4-5 million and we save a bit there? I’m still hoping Stan is gone sooner than later!!!

With the draft next month I really hope they find a president soon who fires Bowman and JC or just fired them both now. Of course Maatta and Murphy would be easier to move because they didn't end up on the LTIR when the season stopped, but it shouldn't be that hard to move de Haan considering he's 28, played solid in the time he played and had a team high +10 and the injury wasn't a weak play, so it's not like his shoulder just failed on a routine play. But if the sweetener is a mid level prospect of mid draft pick to move the full contract, I'm ok with that, if Bowman isn't making the trade.

I hope the owners and GM's protest enough that the league drops this stupid idea of drafting before making a decision on finishing the season just for some ridiculous ratings grab cuz the NFL draft did so well....
I think it is asinine altogether, but I especially hate the idea of the league handing the wangs Lafreniere when they also have about 40 million in cap space going into next season..... I could really do without that crap...

This guy has to pay his dues it's unfortunate Bowman believes he should be allowed to do it in the NHL. Fire Stan fire JC and get some real hockey people back in charge. first off, loved the video. i'm sure i've never seen it before. about seabrook and fighting, seabs has only had 4 documented fights since the end of the 09/10 season so this is nothing new. www.hockeyfights.com/players/1115 no argument the team's been playing this pacified style for too long, though. about colliton and the WJC's in 2005....your statement is not fair at all. JC only played 1 game in '05 before his injury. idk if his injury was a hangnail or a hernia....but seriously, do you really think it was colliton's decision to skip the final game? he wouldn't have made sutter's team with an attitude like that. and to even make those stacked WJC teams(2 years in a row) is a major accomplishment. he also made the IIHF world u18 squad in '03. and your last line. the trigger needs pulling on them both, no argument there. edit: not that it matters, but colliton's injury in '05 was a knee sprain. The other 'threatening injuries' that the media have referred to are a light shoulder strain to Brent Seabrook and Jeremy Colliton's continued absence with a sprained knee. Seabrook has yet to miss a game and is said to be fine for tomorrow, and Colliton, at best a role player on this squad, hasn't even played a game yet. So much for pressing injury concerns.mirtle.blogspot.com/2005/01/world-juniors-prepare-for-playoff.html?m=0

nobody ever mentions KoekKoek but I thought he was becoming one of our top dmen. hmmm....i'm going to reserve judgement and just post the numbers koekkoek and maatta were first regular partners starting january 9th this year. since then... koekkoek 26 games 1g, 6a +7 17:35 toi. the +7 (during that period) was best among defensemen and tied for team best. maatta 26 games 2g, 4a +2 19:13 toi. before they were regularly paired up... koekkoek 17 games 0g, 3a -5 15:31 toi. maatta 40 games 2g, 9a -3 17:54 toi. i wouldn't go as far to say he is one of our top d-men but he was certainly trending in the right direction as the season wound down. chemistry is a funny thing.

Well he had a nice stretch but then reality hit and his last game with Keith he made a lot of bad plays and lost his spot to Carlsson then Beaudin. Or was it Murphy then Beaudin, either way I agree and wouldn't go as far to say one of our top defensemen. Koekkoek showed he can play 3rd pair minutes but he's an RFA, try and trade his rights for something or let him walk.

Yes players will have to find a way to play with others, but if they’re better with a certain someone, it’s foolish to move them. Kinda like separating Dcat and Strome, I just don’t get that. I’d have to think that call fake from above. I’m not sticking up for JC here, but I’d have to think he’d know about them and 88/19. Those two lines destroyed it last year. And to really not even try it all year is sounding like Stan had his plan, he wants his way and got a pure yes man. So I doubt many of these decisions are JC’s. Regardless of who’s behind the bench next year, I say shame on them if they’re not doing their own thing. Can’t listen to the GM who never played and can’t skate!!!

Can’t listen to the GM who never played and can’t skate!!! for shits and giggles...there's 7 g.m.s other than our stan who've never played hockey at least at a college level. (that i could find anyways) john chayka from the 'yotes, jeff gorton from boston the rangers, pierre dorion in ottawa, chuck fletcher in philly, doug armstrong in st. loo, julien brisebois in t.b., and kyle dubas in toronto. stan did play high school hockey and "some intramural and men's league" around south bend when he attended notre dame but said he wasn't good enough to make varsity. maybe it was because he was still using his old "double-runner" skates? : )

I dunno who's idea it was to separate the team's best two young forwards from the previous year after proving their value together but that's what happened and it happened right from the start last year. The more I try to figure it out,the less sense it makes. Why would a young HC startin' his first full year and first camp separate two young players who played so well together? If D-Cat was with JT instead and Strome with Kane,I would understand a coach wanting to see if the two kids could do well apart but one or both started seeing 3rd line minutes with 3rd line players(and that's a stretch) right from the start and we wonder why their numbers were off...….I don't. Kane and Toews set career highs playing together last year too but that was unacceptable for some reason as well. I was told it was done to spread the scoring around but two scoring lines is spreading it around and any HC in the league oughta be able to string two scoring lines together with Kane,Toews,Kubalik,D-Cat,Strome and Saad but there were other plans.

Most have seen this 2018 video but I'll post it anyway. Great video doogs! Re-watching all the wins from the '10' run showed a very physical Seabs(along with others) all PO's long but he wasn't as much in the last cup run in '15' and less so since. The Org's disinterest in physical hockey has been on display for some time,I'm not saying JC wants it either but I still believe it comes from higher up because it started when Q was still here. Seabs has had a few concussions too which might have something to do with his play the last few years. I hope Gilbert gets moved since there's NO interest in his style of play here,he might not meet our high standards but I see a tough as hell, bottom pair D-man who's still 23.

Can’t listen to the GM who never played and can’t skate!!! for shits and giggles...there's 7 g.m.s other than our stan who've never played hockey at least at a college level. (that i could find anyways) john chayka from the 'yotes, jeff gorton from boston, pierre dorion in ottawa, chuck fletcher in philly, doug armstrong in st. loo, julien brisebois in t.b., and kyle dubas in toronto. stan did play high school hockey and "some intramural and men's league" around south bend when he attended notre dame but said he wasn't good enough to make varsity. maybe it was because he was still using his old "double-runner" skates? : ) For example. My buddy coached with me this year. He played 5 years in the OHL. I know quite a bit about the sport, but it was amazing to see how he knew how to control the refs, and make the players follow his lead. He’s been there on one of the highest levels, he represented Canada at the Under 18s. Was a Captain in the OHL. His experience does more than what I know. I’ve been in situations. But not like that. He’s seen what player would be more effective in a certain spot, even if I disagreed, I learnt that he was right. It was an awesome experience. It was also humbling to know that I was head coach and he just has that much more overall knowledge than me. So I think people like Stan can be good if they surround themselves with the right people. I think Stan had a decent team to begin with. He had Chevy, Bergevin etc. But Stan seems to want to go this alone and he doesn’t really have anyone there to help him through with their knowledge and experience. Ya he has MacIvor around, but you never ever ever hear his name spoken, and there’s a reason for it. Example. Gorton is GM of the Rags (not the Bs hahahaha). But he is also surrounded by John Davidson, Glen Sather, and Chris Drury. That’s an impressive team. Dubas was as surrounded by Lou, Mark Hunter, Shanny etc. Yes two of them are gone. But he still has Shanny, Cliff Fletcher is still there too. Stan doesn’t really have much around him. And I believe I know why!!!

with the way things are being handled in the states (each state doing their own thing rather than everyone pulling in at least a similar direction), I dunno how the hell any of these leagues are going to be able to plan for finishing (or starting in the case of college football) their seasons... one state might be fine with things and another might not be allowing anything at all. I gotta think no fans will be the rule for the NBA and NHL, but I doubt all the venues will be available and I highly doubt they finish the games left. going right into the playoffs seems like the logical path if they are insisting on finishing things. playing in a couple locations and moving all the teams there is probably more likely than playing at each individual team's rink/arena, but at the same time the players are likely to fight that idea because it would require a significant amount of time away from their families.... to me it seems like just canceling the seasons and making a plan to start the next season close to on-time with provisions for outbreaks and gaps between games seems like the better way to go, but we all know money talks and that means a big chunk lost, sooo....

I agree Vader, things seem to be a gawd damn mess these days. I also believe cancelling this year and worrying about next is the way to go. We’ve heard here about my sons hockey, they’re talking about starting it in late November or early December. If things are not wrapped up with this in the next 3-4 weeks. This will kill the summer and travel will worsen it. At that point point, the idiots win and it’s best to just carry on and hope for the best. Even if people hung out, don’t shake hands or hug or kiss on the cheek like the Italians do.
Maybe, just maybe there is a silver lining here, or at least an end if that’s a silver lining. Cook county is exhuming and conducting tests on people who died as far back as November that had symptoms similar to Covid. If this has been around longer than first thought ( absolutely no reason to believe the Chinese on their lying timeline), maybe we’ve all already had this, or the curve was much worse in Jan/Feb and now we’re seeing the very last of it and the coveted 60% of the population has already had it and spreading is less likely. More counties in the US and Canada are looking into this, not just in Illinois.
I can tell you that I believe it’s been here since November, or earlier. We had a kid on our team get pneumonia in mid November, then 6-7 more got it. Much of the coaching staff had something similar and my son had a 106.4F fever 🥵, and it lasted 4 days. It would come down to 101/102, then spike back up. Scary times for sure. Also a woman I installed an elevator at her house, her dad died of Fever, Respiratory sickness and on a ventilator on Jan 3. So it’s tough to argue at this point that it wasn’t here longer, and the death toll is probably much higher. So if there is a silver lining, hopefully it’s run it’s course and we’re in the clear here!!!

Well, I admire your enthusiasm, T , I fear the worst is yet to come, and the way they are treating it south of the border scares me to no end

Well, I admire your enthusiasm, T , I fear the worst is yet to come, and the way they are treating it south of the border scares me to no end I wish I could share in your fear, but I don't have any room for fear with all the anger, disappointment, and disgust I currently harbor with the fabulous showing down here thus far.....
