Can I join the opium den you guys?LOL! We'll see about 'drop the chalupa' but.....
I'll give Dominik Kubalik as much credit as anyone and I'll also point out the advantage of a finisher(and Kubs looks like a finisher)skating with a great set-up guy. I liked the newcomer's play early on with Saad and Kampf, that line played some good D and accepted the role. I'm not saying Kubalik doesn't do just as well or maybe even better with Kane but he had 6 goals when he joined JT in early Dec. A finisher needs a set up man.....ANY finisher or there's nothing to finish, something we need to remember with D-Cat. The chemistry JT and Kubs had was awesome when you consider the weak sauce they often had on their off wing and I'd stike terror in the hearts of the OIL with a Kane Toews Kubalik line early in that series if it was up to me. Let Strome,Saad,D-Cat,Dach,JC and the rest of whatever figure out the rest of it. Who are the great Oil defensive players who'll shut that line down? BALENCED SCORING BE DAMED!

Remember, “balenced” scoring only works if you have a real balance. I’m not sold on the Hawks have balance. I’d rather lose with 2 lines going and be entertained, instead of lose with all four lines doing mediocre like we seen this year. There were way too many games last year from the opening faceoff, we just felt no energy from the team and I’d bet the team felt like there was nothing to play for. That’s on the coach, and he did a terrible job with the lines, and a terrible job coaching in general. He’s a zero energy guy, and the team definitely followed his lead!!!

i hope he gets a first place vote or two but no doubt he's an outlier here. i'm just glad he got the nomination because there wasn't a whole lot of talk out there about him. edit: seems like a guy who's head is screwed on right.

It sure does.
Every interview I've seen of him makes me like him more as a player. Very humble.

BALENCED SCORING BE DAMED! had time to kill today (like most days) and i checked all of kubalik's ES goals from the season and who were the other 2 forwards on his line. i believe it was the december 8th game against arizona that toews/kubs became a thing. in the 18 ES goals kubs scored from the dec. 8th game to season's end, 19 and 18 88 were actually on the ice together with him for 10 of those goals. altogether since the 8th, toews was along side kubs for 16 of those 18 goals while kane was along side kubs for 11 of those goals. so yeah.....toews and kubs had something going alright. edit: i might also add that before dec. 8th, toews was 5g, 10a, -6 and .52 pts/game in 29 games. since dec. 8th, toews went 13g, 32a, +4 and 1.1 pts/game in 41 games. so the question is....does 19 spark 8 or vice versa? : ) just kidding...just one of them there win/win situations i reckon. dbl edit: since i got the numbers, there was only 1 of his 18 ES goals since dec. 8th that kubs scored where neither kane or toews was on the ice with him. that was his 30th goal in the last game where dach and hagel were the other forwards with him. the others on the ice for his goals were caggs 4 times and saad and quenneville once (with toews) and smith once (with kane). okay...i think i've put enough people to sleep now. : )

I don't know how many times I said they were 'money' together and they were. I know many think I'm just pickin' scabs but I'm just dumbfounded to see ANOTHER uber successful line combo broken up. JT will be okay because he gets another finisher,D-Cat will be okay because he gets a set-up man and the sweet dishes Kubs used to get and Kubs gets a shutdown role after an offensive explosion and a Calder nomination........I just struggle to grasp this!
