Why can't we just clone HOSSA 22 times?

Owen Power is now getting the most TOI for Gallant at the World’s. That’s somewhat surprising but the kid looks pretty good. If Canada makes the playoffs there will be tougher games and teams ahead. We’ll see how it works out.

The Kazakhstan player that hit Reichel in the head is being suspended for a game. It doesn't say anything about how Reichel is doing. I don't think anything has been said about Reichel so I assume the doctors are waiting until tomorrow when they play Finland to see how things are. The article does give a few details as to what all happened to Reichel on the hit. www.iihf.com/en/events/2021/wm/news/25937/stepanenko_suspended

Even on a clean hit he was going to get leveled leaning in like he did. There’s always someone in the NHL ready to lower the boom if you’re not paying attention. Hopefully he plays next game and the effects of that hit don’t linger.

Reichel isn't playing against Finland today; he's listed as "not dressed", which won't surprise anyone. It's only been three days since the hit to the head, so I didn't expect him to be cleared to play this soon. After today's game, Germany plays their next game vs. the US in only two days, on Mon. the 31st. I'd be somewhat surprised if he plays in that game. At least he hasn't been ruled out for the tournament yet, that I know of. So hopefully he'll get to come back a little later in the tournament, assuming Germany advances to the next round.

Beaudin pulled 20+ minutes today, and Hagel still can’t score but Canada wins. Calgary has a nice little 6th rounder in Mangiapani, glad he showed up.

reichel is in the lineup against the u.s., i believe the game is starting quite soon unless i've got the times messed up, which usually happens.

The US won 1-0 and are on to the quarterfinals. 2-0 actually. EN at the end. Ex-Hawk Dominik Kahun just about tied it at 1-1 just before.

Watching Russia/Sweden right now. Why is Russia listed a ROC instead of RUS?

reichel is in the lineup against the u.s., i believe the game is starting quite soon unless i've got the times messed up, which usually happens. Reichel played 16 shifts for 15:36 TOI, so it would appear his ice time wasn't limited on account of his injury. He was also 4 of 8 on faceoffs. The lineups showed four groups of five; each with 3 F's and two D's. I'm not sure if the first group shown is the top line, and the second group is the 2nd line, and so on. If that is correct, Reichel played on the 2nd line. I don't know if he was at C or F since in all the groups, the two D are listed first, in ascending numerical order, and the three F's are also listed the same way. And among the F's in the second group, Reichel had the lowest jersey number. I'm guessing that's just the way they're doing the lineups for the WC's The fourth group for the US had one D and four F's. I haven't kept up much with who will advance or not; is Reichel's first WC close to ending, or are they still in it? Germany has hit the skids in the last couple of games or so. I'd like to see Reichel get some more games.

Great, Slovaks advance to the quarterfinals and very surprisingly, the Swedes are out of the competition. While the Slovaks are there for the first time in 8 years, the Swedes are not there for the first time in their history.

And regarding our neighbors, they do not have to fair that good. You know, if the Czechs finish let's say 6th, it would be a successful championship for the Slovaks if we would finish 5th

I thought Reichel was one of the better players in the game vs USA. He really didn't look too small or out of place against the competition.

I thought Reichel was one of the better players in the game vs USA. He really didn't look too small or out of place against the competition. He's probably 6'1" 190lbs now, he said himself he was 186lbs before last season started. Up 15lbs between seasons is a good sign and if he's like his brother he might get even bigger.

Swiss and Germany facing off now. Kurashev vs. Reichel. Phil has one assist as it’s 1-0 after one.

Canada beats the ROC. On paper I would have thought this game favoured the Russians but maybe coaching does make a difference. Put together a bunch of random players, give them a simple and effective system and make sure they work hard. Brilliant.

What a move by Troy Stetcher to set up the winning goal. Troy played at the University of North Dakota for 3 years and was on their NCAA Championship team in 2016. He is sort of an "under-the-radar" type of player, but he was very solid at North Dakota. His play in this game against Russia was strong and the goal he set up will be celebrated for quite a while, I would think.
