Correction 500 mil in revenue I’d figure profit is only 300 mill nobody knows how much edzo was asking for in his contract but i think you wouldn't be wrong assuming it was close to fair market value. if so, it boggles the mind that rocky couldn't scrape up a few more bucks to sign him. this season will be hard enough to watch and listen to as it is.

Olczyk said it was his decision to part ways. Now, did the Hawks offer make it easier, I am sure that was a factor. At the same time, it was reported there was a verbal agreement in place earlier this year to continue. So what changed? The settlement was already in the news prior to the so-called verbal agreement. If it was being paid for a full season rather than per game basis, I would say that is pretty significant to not be part of a verbal agreement.

I suspect that the combination of not having Pat Foley as his partner, plus the plan to ice a poor team made up his mind. Who can blame him?

Eddie O's little brother Ricky is assistant GM in Seattle. Maybe that was a factor.
Still, any time your main home is on the west coast, there's a lot more traveling, especially if you're also doing broadcasts for other teams. I am sure that the Hawks had just a lukewarm welcome mat set out for Eddie O.

Sounds like the Hawks are doing everything on the cheap these days. This is why they’re going with inexperienced people. They command less money. Those settlements must have rocked the Wirtz’s to the core!!! Financial settlements, lack of ticket sales, having to retain salary when they push Kane and Toews out the door. It all adds up! Settlements rarely come out of pocket, that's what insurance is for.

I almost would rather just have the sounds of the game and no announcers than anyone other than Edzo and Pat.

They used to just have the sound of the game, way better than hearing Colby. When Luke sat down to talk to them 2mins of play passed with Colby talking about his experience at a prospect camp...no one cares and I'm sure Luke didn't.

Hawks never had announcers during the Travis City prospects games. Always just the hot mic in the arena. Lots of the other teams had theirs.

Management has made it clear they are tanking, broadcasters and all! Maybe they think the lower the TV ratings, the better the chances for the #1 pick? This was all Eddies choice. But Seattle? Are there horse tracks there? Yes there is...at least the last time I was up there.

Great read and spot on. In my lifetime I had the pleasure of listening to Lloyd Pettit then Pat Foley. I was willing to give Vosters a chance and felt Eddie would actually be better with Vosters simply because Pat and Eddie were too close, getting away from the broadcast with their banter of chocolate chip cookies and soft serve. Now there is no connection to the TV broadcast to draw me there to watch as the Hawks descend to one of the worst teams in the league, if not the worst in franchise history. Every aspect of the Hawks right now is an embarrassment. We thought it couldn't get any worse then Stan Bowman, but he seems to have been just the beginning of the fall. It may be years before this franchise ever recovers. It might be way past time for the Wirtz family to sell. Rocky went from being toast of the town to the class(less) clown faster then any Wirtz (Arthur, Bill) before him

Rocky went from being toast of the town to the class(less) clown faster then any Wirtz (Arthur, Bill) before him I used to turn off the lights, lay down on the sofa, and listen to Lloyd Pettit call the game. I could close my eyes and actually picture what was happening on the ice. I loved Pat Foley for his love of the game, his enthusiasm, and his knowledge. But I didn't love him on radio...he couldn't keep to his roll as the play-by-play man and leave color to his partner. With TV coverage, I could at least see what was going on. But Pat will rightfully have a place in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

But Pat will rightfully have a place in the Hockey Hall of Fame. I always felt Pat was fine when they simulcast the games on both TV and radio. It was when they decided to bring him back after 2 years away to split the duties and have him just on TV that he declined into non-game related conversations. We had those couple of years between Pettit and Foley that were brutal, and I can't speak for the 2 years Dan Kelly was the TV announcer as I refused to watch the Hawks after they fired Pat back then. But we as Hawks fans have had the pure pleasure of nearly 60 years of hall of fame play by play announcers. Pettit from 1963 thru 1975, and Foley from 1980 thru 2022

Forthose interested, Eddie can drive about a half hour south of Seattle to watch the ponies. It's called Emerald Downs and it's in a suburb called Auburn.

Poor Eddie. What a soldier he was for the Hawks. This whole scenario reminds me of a Huey Lewis and the News song. “If this is it”!!!

Those settlements must have rocked the Wirtz’s to the core!!! The adage that one gets what one pays for applies to sports as well as other commodities. The lack of financial investment in the Hawk team will show in the won/lost record. They'll be getting a shot at the #1 lottery pick for the next 5 years.

Are there horse tracks there? Yes, they do. It is called Emerald Downs and it has a 52 day season in 2022. The horses that race there are glue factory rejects.

I remember saying a while back, maybe even in this thread that the Wirtz’s really didn’t want any one around who was any way shape or form from the beach era. I think this is why 19/88 are kinda being pushed out the door. And will they be re-signed? So I literally believe it when it’s becoming real. Literally every one except 19/88 is gone. Well, besides the guy who obviously knew nothing……. Rockwell!!!
