Everyone here probably knows how I feel about Foley. He’s one of the top 2-3 all time. Not much better. I was always hoping he’d stick around for a while, like Bob Cole did. But he’s had a solid career and he will be going out on top. What a beauty he is. He will be missed in the booth. I will cherish every call next year.
Thanks for the memories Pat!!!

So glad he was here through the Cup years. So sad to see him go, he helped me become a Hawks fan back in the 80's. Hopefully Weideman is the replacement.

Any retirement party should include a cake with "3:33" on the top.

Maybe someone can jog my memory. Foley had a game this year, and it went to OT. Maybe Hawks and Canes? But the 3rd and OT were him at his best. He’s was an absolute beauty in that game. We were all talking about it for days after. We heard quite a few “BIG SAVE” and it was end to end to end to end to end to end action. Just unreal. The game was entertaining and Foley made it that much better. What a game……. If I could remember who it was…….. or if it even took place!!!

what a bummer but one you could see coming. glad to have lived in the city for The Run and that I was able to listen to him call the games on a nightly basis. the special lady is more bummed than I am, I think. when we watch a game and we get the home broadcast, she actually enjoys it more just because of Foley.
glad he is getting one more year to have a retirement party.

Im glad he gets to do a year tour of saying goodbye.Such a great guy you felt like he was one of us.His sarcasm was just fantastic(puck dumped in will there be a retrieval?) you tell by his tone when he made that call what he thought of the Hawks effort that night. He went to one of our Christmas parties about 25 years ago, I called a friend who I had season tickets with and who had moved to Steamboat I asked Pat to talk to him he was on the phone with him for about 10 min just a great guy.Glad we will be able to give him a proper send off!! Thanks Pat!

rumblings that foley is being forced out by the organization. hopefully not true, or it's an exaggeration. edit: actually it sounds like it was foley's idea more than anything. “I have had conversations with the Blackhawks about my future, and because I cannot guarantee that I would like to continue beyond the length of my contract that ends after next season, they must look ahead,” Foley added. “I support and respect their plan to transition the broadcast booth.”chicago.suntimes.com/2021/6/23/22547081/blackhawks-broadcaster-pat-foley-will-retire-after-upcoming-seasoni read somewhere that throughout the season they will be bringing in different announcers from time to time. likely not a bad idea. as was said...i'm rooting for wideman as well but i believe he's 64 years old. as silly as it sounds, they might want someone younger. foley's only 67. anyways, i'm definitely going to miss pat foley. i really feel fortunate i was able to enjoy his games so many times over the years.

I live in Central New York and have been a Black Hawks fan for over 50 years. When I first found the Hawks on radio it was Lloyd Petit and I thought he was great. Later when dish brought me live games it was Pat Foley. He is the BEST! I will miss his wonderful play-by-play. Thank you Pat. Enjoy your retirement.

Foley is the best. I for one admire him and think the world of him. Even as a person he seems like a genuine good guy. He will be missed in the booth. I hope he ends up board and comes back in some capacity. Even if it’s with the NBC giants!!!

8 years ago today. great call from john and troy.
everybody's heard this a hundred times. the only reason i put it here was just as a sad reminder that we never got to hear pat foley in the SCF's. in another world, it would've been brilliant to hear foley call these games.
maybe that's what pat can do when he retires. make up a CD, just him in front of a TV calling the replays...call it "all the great SCF goals i couldn't call". it would go gold in chicago....likely platinum.

Bolly with the last and greatest moment of his career there. what an awesome night that was. when Bickell scored I thought for sure I was either going to a game 7 or celebrating another OT Cup win. little did I know I would only have to wait a few minutes to start the celebrating... edit: just cuz, I went and watched the final two minutes of that game again and guess who comes out and wins the draw at center ice after that goal, beating Bergeron of all people? you guessed it: Dave Bolland. edit #2: and then gt went and changed it to the video I literally just went and watched... lol.

Kruger was just a couple inches away from being the hero when he tipped Oduyas shot and hit the post.

Had to give you a thumbs up after just watching the first two minutes my friend! Shaw playing with a shredded face,Kane's outstanding entry,Keith's outstanding pinch and JT's great pass between Chara's legs after winning another board battle for Bickell's first of the finals but his parent's reaction might be the best part.....gotta watch the rest now.

Everything you said there is awesome and that is exactly what a great coach does. Know the guy that’ll win the faceoff and not get scored against. It would be easy just to throw Toews out there, but Q knew that Bolly was determined also and look what happened! It’s sad that to good times are gone, but gawd damn were they good times!!!

If anyone from Bos is to blame for that GTG, its seidenberg, pinning kane in the corner, putting himself out of position defending a 6 on 5. It left Toews open down low and Chara to defend the 2-on-1. That GWG though, both Ference and Boychuk were in perfect position, Bolland was just too sneaky and quick to pounce on that rebound. Great memories for sure

Pat Foley is synonymous to the Blackhawks. As a fan from Toronto who was used to the same voices during Leafs games or Hockey Night in Canada, when I started tuning into the Hawks on the Centre Ice package he had a way of drawing me further into the game that no other commentator had.
"Tree turdy tree" still gets me every time.
I'll cherish every game this year!

never heard of monaco, nelson or vosters (maybe some here have and can comment) but i'm really hoping wideman gets the nod here. the fact that they've got 3 different guys subbing for wideman on the radio makes me wonder if he's not the front runner? that guy zakrzewski does the ice hog's games i believe. my first thoughts about him aren't too flattering but maybe he's the type who could grow on you. he's enthusiastic, i'll give him that.

I love hearing Shaw and Burish will still be involved. They both crack me up a lot. i had to check and make sure that their careers never overlapped in chicago. (they didn't) anyways, reading about shaw in wikipedia, something i never knew was that in 2016 he was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder. just seemed strange that it was diagnosed so late in life. anyways, it'll be interesting if they're both together on the same broadcast. definitely a pair of characters.

I would've guessed he had that without looking at anything. it is kinda odd that they would diagnose that late, though.

surprised Sharp, Burish, and Fraser are gonna be anywhere near the booth considering the legal goings on and their presence on the team in question. I'll bet their appearances are fairly brief.
anyone know who is in studio for the local broadcasts this year?
