I think it's colby cohen. and that's it? No Jammer or anyone else? And what about Pat Boyle? He was the only one on last night.

Is Eddie-O done doing Chicago games after this season? I hope so, he doesn't know when to stop talking. The first PP he talked for the first minute, the beginning of the second he once again talked for a minute during the play.

And there was an elbowing penalty on Bobby Ryan and he said after the replays he didn't see a penalty, it wasn't an elbow but he stuck out his leg and clearly tripped the Chicago player. It's one thing to not be bias but that's pretty bad saying it wasn't a penalty and siding with Detroit. Was it Cohen who did a game with Foley last season? Whoever it was, they quickly tossed out some facts then let Pat call the game, the way a color analyst should be. I think Burish would do a great job in Eddies spot.

I might be the only one but for me I felt he should have stepped aside years ago. Always felt he was at his best when teamed with Dale Tallon. That is when Foley stayed on task doing the play-by-play and they kept the most of the story telling to breaks in the action. Was one of the best when he remembers there is a game going on,

2 preseason games and I think I'm going to listen to other teams feeds if Eddie is in the booth. Can't stand listening to him when there's a game going on.
In the middle of a play Eddie said can I ask you a question....(long pause) then asked his question. Someone needs to tell him to shut up.
And I could hear him eating his soft serve and trying to talk 🙄

Was one of the best when he remembers there is a game going on, In all fairness, when the team sucks and there’s massive coaching issues, they’re just trying not to talk about the issues at hand. They’re just killing time for instead of complaining about the situation. Foley used to say it like it is. Now he has to tow the company line. Maybe one of the reasons he’s leaving. He probably had to swallow all his pride last year with his speech on how JC is the “Great Communicator”. He never said anything like that about Q because he wasn’t forced to. He said nice things about Q, so you can tell he’s been forced to be something he’s not. And if that JC speech wasn’t scripted, tell me why they skipped commercial break for him to talk about JC for 3 minutes straight? I wouldn’t doubt if Foley does games for National tv like he has recently. I think it’s tough for him and Eddy to take this serious anymore…… and they don’t!!!

And I don't remember Eddie defending it but he probably did, I do remember Bobblehead Bruce freaking out behind the Caps bench and went on a rant after the game defending the hit. Campbell was very lucky that all he got was a broken collar bone.

I could have swore there was an Ovechkin Knee-on-knee incident with Campbell--but you're probably right about the collar bone being the incident I'm (mis) remembering. I remember Eddie saying something like, "See, Ovehckin is waving, he didn't mean it" or some shit like that. Either way, it was the type of hit that should have gotten a lengthy suspension--much more than Ovechkin got.

I remember Eddie defending it. It seems like he really wants to not be seen as a homer, and goes too far in the other direction. He also defends bad calls by the refs a lot. I guess it's because he does the national games and doesn't want to get called into an office and get yelled at.

I guess it's because he does the national games and doesn't want to get called into an office and get yelled at. That's exactly why he does that, because he's from Chicago, played for the Hawks, and does local games with Pat, when he does national games he doesn't wanna sound like a homer. But defending a dirty hit to not sound like one isn't professional at all, call it like it is.

Was one of the best when he remembers there is a game going on, I found out from an old buddy that the reason it was more on point with Tallon was simply because the games were simulcast with radio. He had to do real play by play so the radio listener could get the gist of it. When Foley came back it was just TV and they split the duties. I think they tried to make the TV more “fun”. And it worked, not for all though. When Foley didn’t have Eddie in the booth, he was more serious and got the job done without the schtick. Personally, I love what he brings and I’m sad to see him go. The team wasn’t much fun to watch the last 5 years. So I think he sliced it up instead of complaining about the team like he used to!!!

The bold is completely true. I was a great time to watch the games. I wish it was a simulcast for every game and team. Keeps them sharp.
On a side note, it seems like Weideman is a half-step behind on his calls while on TV. On the radio he could get away with that, but he names the player that already passed to puck to someone else already.

Was thinking the same thing. Sounded like a radio broadcast to me. Maybe because we're used to hearing him on radio. I remember Petit painted a picture of the game for me when I used to listen on the old transistor radio.

pretty good article about Foley and his leaving the booth in the Athletic. he and Faulkner really going out of their way to make sure everyone knows he isn't being forced out this time around. sounds more like him having no travel and less teams to prep for last season lead him to realizing that he is done with doing every game... the article: theathletic.com/3146308/2022/02/24/the-inside-story-of-legendary-broadcaster-pat-foleys-retirement-and-final-season-with-the-blackhawks/for those that can't see it, here are the remaining Pat Foley broadcast dates: 2/27, 3/3, 3/6, 3/8, 3/15, 3/19, 3/20, 3/28, 4/3, 4/10, 4/12, 4/14. odd to me that he wouldn't call any of the last 3 home games, but the 4/14 game will be Pat Foley night so...

in other news on the broadcast team, Faulkner says she anticipates John, Troy, and Eddie to all be back next season. she also said they'll announce the GM first and then Foley's replacement, whom they are apparently close to selecting...
edit: o, and John W is almost surely not going to be Pat's replacement...
edit #2: Pat claims to have a surprise guest for one game. fingers crossed that it is Tallon...

If Eddie does come back but misses a similar amount of games as he has this year, I'm hoping they have his son Nick do the games and completely eliminate the Turd-le neck twin from broadcasts. And really hoping it's Ross Jr based on who we've heard so far to be hired for the play by play.
And yes, it would be fun to hear Pat and Dale one last time. Either Dale or Karpovtsev who was one of Pats favorite players:

It's not that I really look for negative stuff to post all the time Phil.....I don't have to look, that was the 3rd or 4th story on BR this morning. This team will go in the new direction the young non-hockey leadership takes it and it's hard to swallow, the lack of a Pres of hockey opps alone could easily spell failure for the next guy who'll have either a few years as an AGM or DHO or none in the BB guy's instance. He'll have no one above him except the '2017 liquor exec of the year' to oversee and assess his progress. Hawks and Bears will both continue to struggle until both MEGA-wealthy families hand over management of the teams to actual professionals instead of their God dammed kids! Hawks' new GM will report directly to 'Prince Daniel' and the Bears' new guy answers only to 'Boy George'...........both newcomers will be filling their position for the first time.....what could possibly go wrong?

You're not following the BIG PICTURE yet. The Hawks will and are being pioneers in the transformation of hockey. There will no longer be any checking or hitting allowed. Basically no men will be allowed to play. Remember they are listening to what "FANS" want.
