Put this under "prospects" and he'd still be top 10.

Probably the BEST free agent signing in Chicago Sports history. Edit: I see that Jay Zawaski agrees with me

Everyone, please stop quoting the post with the Atlanta jerseys. It’s making this thread unreadable. We’re all glad they’re dead and gone. So let’s leave them at that.
We all knew he was done. But it’s a nice finish. I hope he he does some kind of work for the Hawks. Even do some Euro scouting for the Hawks. A lot of times you have best friends you’d love to see more often and get to work with them again. I think he puts the work in and would get the results. Trust me. I see a lot of guys that are ex players that are scouts and they hang out with other scouts and drink beer most of the game and get caught up, instead of meeting the kids before games, or after. Just not very dedicated. And they keep theyre jobs due to their buddy is GM or something high up!!!

Hossa was obviously a key cog in that wheel of 3 cups. Those teams were deep - half of today’s team wouldn’t make those teams or maybe more.

What a fantastic tribute to Hoss during the Seattle game, including announcing his number retirement which was awesome and well deserved. The Hawks were a contender before they signed him, but he was the player that put them over the top and helped lead to the championships. He played with class and heart, never took a shift off, and led by example. One of the all time great Hawks and well deserved honor. He's the first of many from the championship years who will receive this honor. Keith, Toews, Kane, and Seabrook should be locks as well. Sharp and Crawford may also be a consideration.
Since they waited until Hossa officially retired to announce his number retirement, maybe they'll do the same for the others, although Sharp and Crawford, who have already retired, may have to wait for the other 4 before they get their days.

I thought the criteria for number retirement was HOF induction? it has always made me wonder if they would do Seabs or not. I don't see Sharp or Crow getting theirs retired, personally. I think Seabs will, only because they'll need to do his with Chelios so the crowd is more positive...

Not sure being a hall of famer is a requirement for the Hawks, although all but 1 retired number are in the hall. Keith Magnuson is the exception, but he shared his number retirement with Pilote and was huge after his retirement in the Hawks community. Plus his tragic death may have led the Hawks to their decision with him. Because his playing career was not hall of fame material. Loved watching him, and he'd stand up to anyone to protect his teammates. But wasn't a great skater, rarely scored, and not sure how his plus/minus rating would have been (don't think that was a stat back in his playing days). But if I remember correctly, 1, 3, 9, 18, 21, and 35 are the retired numbers with Hossa joining next year. I'm thinking winning 3 Stanley Cups (in Crawfords case 2) might be another criteria for having numbers retired

Crow should not only get his number retired, but he should also be considered for HOF enshrinement in my opinion. Look, I know these are lifetime achievement recognition and numbers based, but Crow as a goalie won two cups. Please do not tell me that MAF has three and I really like and respect him, but he watched Murray for two of those. You going to tell me King Richard or Bobby Lu are worthy and not Crow. Between both they have no cups and bet you that both make it and maybe even Rask (he has one, but watched Thomas get that one). I know Osgood won three and he is not in there and has been eligible since 2014 and the argument will be the same for Crow he had stellar teams in front him. Plus like some have already stated he played great and bailed out the team after 2015.
Btw, I believe MAF should be a HOF, the inaugural season with the Knights he was incredible.

ok, so it looks like the sweater raising will be aired live. i'm assuming if you tune in your normal 30 minutes early to catch the pregame you'll catch the sweater raising but i'm not 100% sure on that.
edit: i'm sure it will be made clearer as the day approaches but i'm getting the impression that the raising ceremony won't be directly ahead of puck drop. best to keep an eye on nbcsch's sked and tune in whenever they start the broadcast that day. The Blackhawks will formally commemorate Hossa's career in the on-ice jersey retirement ceremony as the team send his No. 81 to the United Center rafters. Ticketed fans are encouraged to be in their seats before the ceremony starts at 4:30 p.m. and may revisit the Atrium's activities following its conclusion before the 6 p.m. puck drop. The ceremony will also air live on NBC Sports Chicago locally and on ESPN+ and the NHL Network outside of Chicago.www.nhl.com/blackhawks/news/release-hossa-retirement-ceremony-to-start-at-430-pm-on-sunday/c-337555834
