I can’t imagine Luke doesn’t get to choose his assistants with a rubber stamp from KD - just to make sure someone controversial doesn’t get in. Zawaski said the other day that he was talking to Scott Powers and Powers said that the guy who took over for King in Rockford is the new head coach there. Which is a head scratcher because you’d think King did nothing wrong, if anything he really helped out. So he did nothing to become unemployed. I’d have to think that he’s going to be an assistant with the Hawks. Can’t see how they just let him go. He’s under contract and I doubt the “Family” wants to pay another guy to sit at home!!!

KD already said he would find a way to keep him in the organization.

On the Hogs site still shows Sorensen as interim coach.

Boy you can really tell how bad things are top selling point is before the game starts, surprised he didn’t mention 2 free beers and shoot the puck in between 2nd and 3rd.j Just get them to be hard to play against lots of work ahead hope anthem is still loud for you at end of the year no guarantee it’s gone away before.

Begins at 32:30 in for some reason.
Edit: i had a good feeling about colliton when he was hired and to some extent even with king. But when neither worked out i thought maybe a retread was the way we should go. After watching this interview though, i think we got the perfect guy for this team. Hopefully 3rd time lucky for rookie nhl coaches this go round.

And same with King because he wasn't JC lol plus he had a lot more NHL experience. But Luke trumps them both, he was a beast on the blueline and players loved playing with him and for him.

An interesting response when Lazerus asked if there any untouchables on them team. KD said yes there are based on their contractual status which the players have earned. I thought the interesting word was contractual status, he did not say what the players have accomplished, what they mean to the team, city and fans or by keeping them would help with the rebuild.

What's up with the street backdrop? The Wirtz family did not want to have a one of their business banners as a backdrop or some type of corporate sponsors.

EDIT: Second look it's not the atrium but some store front looking at a bridge crossing. 3rd look now it must be the 2nd floor of the Hawks store at Michigan and Wacker drive.

Not surprising, hopefully he will be a good coach and deserve a raise in a few years.

I like the hiring. I think he’ll be ok. Just sucks to take over a team that’s falling apart. We won’t see what he can do until it’s much later down the road or it’s too late!!! That's the problem for Luke. What the hell is he going to do until he gets some serious talent? No coach would be able to put together a Cup contender with what the Hawks have now in the dressing room. How long can management wait for some signs of progress which may be a long way and time off? Did they hire him to drive the team to the bottom for three, or four, years? Or, to keep getting a little better each year until the draft picks fall into place? But, how are those draft picks going to fall into place, if he leads the team to few more wins each year? As can be seen, this team is in a bad way and is a mess.

He was a big stay at home dman and the Hawks have some big dmen in the system that should thrive under him. I'm excited for next camp with what they have now, I think Lukes gonna like guys like Allan, Crevier, Del Mastro, Vlasic, and Regula. Plus Jones, McCabe, and even Murphy if he's still here. The other coaches didn't have a good system in place and with his mix of intense style and calm demeanor I can see the team playing a strong defensive style.

Thanks to Big T for the link to the Apple podcast (https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/new-chicago-blackhawks-head-coach-luke-richardson-joins/id1080477414?i=1000568308960) on another page. I was completely unaware that LR lost a daughter over 10 years ago. He and I are about the same age (small world, his old teammate Eddie O was 2 years ahead of me at Brother Rice - he bolted to Canada the Fall that I started in 1982; my baseball coach forced us to watch the 1984 Olympics during Spring baseball - boy, 1984 was a letdown), and his daughter was only a couple months apart from my oldest. I have one more reason to root for Luke now, he's been through much more than the on-ice wars.

(not a season ticket holder...only saw a couple of games a year)

Yes, that was me. I was the erstwhile Colin Delia. I always had a problem with Alain Daigle, though. I asked him what letter my stick looked like, he said “L.” I told him he’s right. I asked if he wanted to use my stick, he asked why: “so we can all pronounce you’re name right - you’re not pronouncing the L like you’re supposed to.” That one got a couple ppl in the 2nd balcony laughing. I didn’t get it - I was only 7 y/o. But I had a bucket of popcorn so I was chill.

Well, I guess if Luke does not pan out, we always can name King again interim coach, he will have good experience in that role.

Having these two as assistants gives mgmt someone to fire after this next season. Then Luke can get his people when it may begin to actually make a difference.
